I have a bro and sis in the US. Both are citizens, I was told it is easier to file invites for parents rather than siblings. What is the best route for me to go to U.S Is it through applying for student Visa or awaiting an invite from my bro/sis? 2 Likes |

Postfut: just to say the little I know nii oo... actually my brother wants to file for I and my sisters and I think it's will take 5-7 years before it's out or even longer . Except you are ready to wait for a long time but if not, apply student visa and once you get there he/she can now file for you.. remember student visa does not lead to the Green Card.. so chose wisely. I stand to be corrected though, I wish you good luck!! ciao |

So. Like I stated in my last post, my tires were pretty bad so I opted to driving my sister's vehicle. After like two to three days without driving my car, I decided to warm it up a little as it had been sitting in the cold for so long. I put the keys in the ignition, the motor no gree start. I decided to jump start the battery using my sister's car battery. I drove to a place called autozone, bought jumper cables for like $23, drove back home, connected the dead battery to my sister's car battery and tried to start the car. Motor no gree start. It turns out I did a wrong connection and killed my sister's car battery. So I drove my mum's car (the highlander) out of the garage and jump-started both car batteries using her car. I left both cars running, so the alternator could charge the batteries a little. Returned my mum's car and went to prepare for work. I drove to my new job for my orientation (post about my new job coming up). It was a floor orientation and was scheduled to hold from 3pm - 11pm with a 30 minute break. During my 30 minute break, I decided to step out and buy some food. I got into my car and tried to start it, e no gree start. So, here I was, 8:30 pm, the weather was freezing (-2 degrees) in Chicago and my car won't start. I went back inside and through out the orientation, I kept thinking of what to do when it would be time for me to go home. At around 10:00pm, I took an excuse and went to try to start the car, no response. When it was time to leave, I had to ask someone for help, luckily, the security guy had a pair of jumper cables. He helped me get the car started, and I started driving home. Somewhere around my house, I stopped to get gas and totally forgot I was not supposed to turn off the car. 19 Likes |

Once again, I was stuck, I walkrd into the gas station and asked the attendant if he had jumper cables. He affirmed that but said he wouldn't lend it to me, that I had to buy it. I pleaded with the attendant, paddy no gree o. He started speaking Spanish and pretending he was on the phone. I had to go sit in my car and wait and think about what I'd do. Called mumsy, but she had gone to work, so she didn't even pick up. I contemplated running to my house to get my jumper cables but it was too damn cold and I'd freeze to death before I even get home. The only option I had was to call the police and that's what I did. The operator took my name, number, car description and location and asked me to wait, that they are sending a squad car to come help me out. It was 12:10 am and the temperature was dropping really fast. 25 Likes

After what seemed like an eternity, a police car pulled into the gas station and approached my car. I explained what the problem was, he sympathized with me and said I should go into the gas station and keep warm while he heads down to the office to get help. He later came back with a jumper pack and helped kick start my car. I was so grateful, I even asked for a picture. He obliged As I drove home, I kept thinking of how much naija police man for collect for my hand 87 Likes 4 Shares

The next day, I drove to the place my sister bought her car battery and laid a complaint, they gave me a brand new car battery, no questions asked. ______________________________________________ Someome once said "Life is like a bicycle, in order to keep your balance, you have to keep moving" I quit my burger king job, but I was actively searching for another job and i was invited for an interview at a nursing home in Chicago. My relative is a nurse practitioner there, so he assured me he'll pull a lot of strings to make sure I get hired. 30 Likes 2 Shares |

tall2ce: Do not let your Brother and sisters file for you,I repeat do not let them file for you. Such visas take more than 10 years before they get approval,Sometimes 13 years or more. I am sure you do not want to get your life hanging for a Us visa. The irony of this also is once someone petitioned for you,You will find it difficult to get even student or Usa Visiting visa.Because the Petition already shows that you are a potential Immigrant. Go to Usa with a Student Visa.Parents and children filing is easier,After approval its take maximum 1 year. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Frank... Been following your story since last year and i must confess: not only is it an eye opener but also escrow a sense of belonging. One of the things I have learnt from your narrative is that you don't pull over where yellow color is marked(emergency signal) you don't joke with time and even when you should make your employer know what's up(that will make your employer take you more serious) , and for the fact that you can call the police for help and get paid on time even if you decide working on a free day? Wow!! So much for my country to learn. I'll like to seek your opinion mates, with a million at hand, should I travel oversees(yankee) or continue the hustle here? Note: I ain't gay nobody over there.(lol.... That's me feeling in already) More grace and favor upon you Frank ... God bless !! 10 Likes |

Hmmmm.......-2 degrees....and the temperature dropping fast?....and you still sitting in the car? ...that's mad cold. Think some lady in your State got drunk and sat outside on the porch. ..like 2 weeks ago.... found her frozen to death. Bro...new battery is not all... hope you get one rated higher than the one recommended for the car and is good in extreme cold. I use INTERSTATE. Heard Chicago is cold... but they must say freezing cold. 5 Likes 1 Share |
