I have interacted with many Muslims from Turkey,Pakistan and Iran who do dot follow this trend blindly but in Nigeria and particularly among Yoruba if you do not have an Arabic name they are not happy.
What is the evidence to back this up
The current President of Turkey is Recep Erdogan a well known Muslim.
Let us take for example the namesame
Hassan Abbas

What have they got to do with Islam
Sani Abacha was a Muslim as was Tafawa Balewa
Their names are not Arabic

Islam teaches people to have GOOD NAMES IT DOES not say Arabic names.

Are Arabic names the only good names?

Its just a fad/ trend i guess.
Since everyone's doing it, you have a native name and then an Arabic/English name too. It has become the norm.
It doesn't make it right or even wrong though.
