gogedda:Yes I have experienced this in Stanbic. They will need to send a mail to the headquarter and wait for the response and that should be between 10am-12pm |

Investnow2017:Thanks bro. The tip is rich. Better rates, stronger stout, and more delicious suya for you. Also, I was thinking about putting like 100K per month at 364 days tenure. So, from January to December, I'd have 12 different bills. Is this strategy okay? I can't afford putting mills at once because I'm relying on a monthly income. Thanks. |

Can someone just please explain this thing to me in simple way.? |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Investnow2017: 1:03pm On Jan 22, 2018 |
Cripstwick:You mean you plan to invest N100k every month in this manner? That is a good strategy. Because by the time it is ripe, you would be reaping N100k every month as they mature. |

dotcomnamename:What are you waiting for? With the way rates are going down? You may not be that lucky tomorrow. Hope you remember that last week"so stop rate for 91days was 12.1%? You are missing a fantastic rate and I bet someone else would have taken it before you go back for it |

@dotcomnamename Nice update. Please can you confirm from your account officer how long this offer will last. Like is First bank running out of 87 days TB for secondary market sell? I would appreciate if you can give a response to this but if not possible, I can understand. Thanks dotcomnamename: |

TONY56:Would you rather top up existing Mutual Funds than to go for Treasury Bills 12.20% 87Days? Security wise? |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by TONY56: 6:38pm On Jan 22, 2018 |
dotcomnamename:I will go for 12.2% Treasury Bill cause the mutual fund performance is a function of the TB rates. The largest investments of mutual funds are invested in Treasury Bills. So since TB rates are falling, mutual funds ROI will equally fall and with TB, you have up front interest which you can also reinvest for better returns and it's tax free unlike Mutual Funds. That's my take. Also, risk wise, the mutual funds are a lot riskier than TB. if your operator of Mutual fund collapses, your investments collapses with it but your TB investments are safe and secured if your bank fails or goes under because your investment is with Federal Government of Nigeria |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by freeman67: 8:54pm On Jan 22, 2018 |
TONY56:Yes mutual funds have more risk than TB that is because they do not rely solely on TB. They invest in shares and commercial papers too. Apart from Money Market Funds all others have a mix of shares in it. |

Good morning all, I did TB at FirstBank yesterday, secondary market but my interest hasn't being paid till now. Is this normal? I tick the option that ask if I want my interest to be paid to me immediately and not after maturity |

shogbenga:This is a good question because with Afrinvest you don't need to go to the bank, they actually send you the rates by email. Today they even had 13.10% for 170 days. I'm interested in investing through them since I'm a 9-5er. Their only charge is a 0,35% custody fee. Is this fair compared to what banks charge? Thanks. @investnow2017 @Tony56 @all the inhouse experts abeg no jump me pass. |

For over 2 months or so, GTB has been unable to get Tbills for 91days period for a friend of mine. Is it a bank issue or 91days tbills is very hard to get?? |

Tojued:Pple talk about banks mostly because; 1)It is easier to invest in banks because almost everyone here already have a bank account or a requirement to own 1 before attempting to invest. 2)Most people around here have a branch of their preferred bank in @least their state capital. Its not that common with investment houses.. People have more access to investment houses mostly in Lagos, Abuja and Port harcourt. 3) At maturity it is easier to use the money straight from your account as it drops without going through the hassles of moving the money from the investment house to your bank. 4) Some banks have even cheaper custody fee...eg FBN has a Custody fee of 0.1%and a transaction fee of N100 for every transaction. 5)Lot of people coming here for the first do not know much about investment houses. Some even get to know them here. These are the few reasons I see why it seem people here prefer banks to investment houses. I'm not in anyway condemning investment houses as people uses have areas they benefit more than using a bank. |

Good afternoon house, pls I need candid advice from the Guru in the house about my friend who bought treasury bills at secondary market at13% from Stanbic bank. Before Tbills purchase Amount in bank account: 5,010,654.05 (five million, ten thousand) Face value invested: 5,000,000 (five million) Tenor: 91 days Rate: 13% After T bills purchase transaction: Amount in bank account:152, 271.85 Tbills amount deducted: 4,857,534.25 Transaction fee: 300 SFKP fee: 547.95 When he approached the bank before he bought the Tbills, he was told that the secondary rate for 91 days was 13% and he filled it in the form and he was dully debited 3 hrs later. From the look of things above, he is suppose to have more than the above in his bank account as his current balance. From my own calculation, i feel he was charged at a rate lower than what he was told. Pls kindly help out Gurus with the calculation. He is planing on going back to complain at the bank. Correct me if am wrong. Was he really charge a rate of 13% ? |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Lexit: 5:40pm On Jan 23, 2018 |
Let the person ask for proof of investment first. It should contain the actual rate he was charged. gogedda: |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Rijo02: 6:14pm On Jan 23, 2018 |
From my calculation: Stop rate (%) = (Face value invested - Tbills amount deducted)/Face value invested This gave a stop rate of 2.89% and completely doesn't make sense. I advise you discuss with your account officer for clarifications. Goodluck gogedda: |
