Ojukwu killed major ifeajunna claimed he was a traitor Ifeajunna won a gold medal for Nigeria, joined Nzeogwu in his coup died in the name of Nigeria, this is definition of a patriotic Nigerian Yet how was he buried? like a dog, but the ojukwu that killed him a hero Conclusion:The Majority are always stupid. |

LZAA:Nzeogwus death was an accident and also he was buried with military honors too same with ojukwu, Ifeajunna was trying to prevent the Biafra war a man who truly cared for his people My point is why are evil men getting heroes burials |

Dfire:With the Republic. The the stanza in the national anthem that says "the labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain" meant both biafran and Nigerian soldiers as the war ended with no victor no vanquished |

Dfire:Even Robert. E. Lee who led the CSA in battle against the Union and other notable confederate officers in the American civil war (who resigned their US commission to fight for the confederates) were pardoned, and had their ranks in the United states army restored to pre-war status by the united states congress and all benefits paid including burials in arlington memorial with full military honors. This is what is expected for full reconstruction and reconciliation. Ur comment shows ur little knowledge of professional soldiery and the spirit of comradeship that exists in professional militaries around the world. |

Neddyogu:like obafemi awolowo said the American civil war was a civilized war led by good men with good intentions the American civil war was about the liberation of slaves, nothing compared to the Biafra war This is Nigeria not America you can't compare Gowon with Abraham Lincoln stop spilling nonsense here they should have killed him surrender or not based on the brutality of the civil war |

Dfire:Oga, invest your time elsewhere because there's nothing you can do to change what has happened. If you're that inquisitive then go and interview the government and not nairaland. Still you could simply ask Google. |

dvaliant:This is a very childish comment to make, and very predictable too the last resort of Someone who is dumbfounded but still determined to say rubbish Now there were some people accusing me of diverting topic from Fulani herdsmen... now using your view I could ask them, why can't they take their complaints to the Nigerian government or better still carry cutlass and travel to Benue instead of crying here? That's how you sound You said 'ask Google' forgetting that Google is a collection of different blogs with different people with different posts if everyone on Google was like you the response to all questions would be 'ask Yahoo' PS this post can be found on Google |

Dfire:Point out one case in recent military history where Rebel leader not captured in battle is summarily executed in peacetime by the ruling government. The worst case is a detention. Never an execution. It was a war, not a coup d'etat. If you think the American civil war was about slavery, u are wrong. it was about preservation of states' rights and having stronger state powers as opposed to a stronger central government. (the southern states felt the Lincoln-led federal government was smoldering states' rights). the slavery- abolitionist trump card was played by the Lincoln administration as a final stroke to break the confederacy. The american civil war was NOT all about ending slavery (which is still legal in the united states, cos it can be used by the government as a punitive action for certain crimes. Just read the 13th amendment of the US constitution). You are clearly a kid with minimal knowledge of history or military affairs. |

Neddyogu:This just proves that people are being sacrificed as pawns in recent military, why don't you ask me about the old ones maybe 17th century, and I'm still asking why wasn't major Ifeajunna given a military burial stop talking about the military like its secret cult honestly your question is stupid I should give you a case of a war man who ran away after a bloody war came back and was killed, a true rebel would never come back if he wasn't 100% sure of amnesty. Your question is just too stupid I think you're 14 you can't even listen to yourself you even said not captured in battle of course it's impossible, I could have said Saddam Hussein Just listen to yourself, a war and coup d'etat which is more bloody |
| Re: Why Was Ojukwu Given A State Burial By Nigerian Government? by Neddyogu(m): 3:52pm On Jan 24, 2018 |
Dfire:Against what government was Saddam a rebel? You are clearly an i.diot cos Ojukwu never came back before recieving a state pardon. He came home afterwards, Like R.E. Lee, George Pickett and a whole lotta others. |

Dfire:As long as what you say and what the signed documents of surrender carry what u think we know is inconsequential so better unknow it. |
| Re: Why Was Ojukwu Given A State Burial By Nigerian Government? by Neddyogu(m): 4:44pm On Jan 24, 2018 |
Dfire:Are you trying to say Gadaffi and Saddam were rebel combatants or what? What exactly is ur point?Against what govts were they rebels i ask u. Look, it is customary for military leaders, heads of state and other decorated soldiers, marines, airmen or sailors to be accorded burials with full military honors. that is at the discretion of the government of the day. Granted, not all fallen heroes can be granted such and so different countries have special days they remember and honour such men. In Nigeria, its the ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY. So just live with it kiddo. Ojukwu and a few rebel officers such as Conrad Nwawo were reabsorbed into the Nigerian army and ranks and pensions restored. |

Dfire:It's good for one to be properly informed. Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu let a coup in 1966 against the state, and one of their target was to eliminate the then Head of State Aguiyi Ironsi and other principal officers. I believe to you he is the Patriot? Ojukwu fought against the killings of the southerners in the North which the then HOS Gowon did nothing to stop the massacre. |

Dfire:No, you can't. I didn't ask the question. You did. You have been everywhere on this thread, looking for answers. Ojukwu may not have received such respect if it was not GEJ. That is for sure. But if you go back to history, the then Eastern Region included Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa-ibom and Cross River. Ojukwu was their governor. When he was forced to defend the then East, that included all these people. He may have been an Igbo man, but he fought the northen oligarchs on behalf of the whole old East. So to thses guys, he was their hero. Not the villain he is being painted by FG. I can't tell u much here, but you can read books and do some research....help yourself man. |
