But was Gen. Robert E. Lee buried with full state honors? What of Jefferson Davis, 'Stonewall' Jackson and co.?

That is why I said it was long after the civil war they were later recognized as American soldiers. They all died a long time ago before the American government later recognized all of them as Americans. Many of them are now buried at the national army cemetery as American soldiers
