And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob: And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.

Few days ago, we started a series from the book of Judges; which is centered on Jephthah.

In our memory verse today, we read about a situation in Isreal which propelled the elders of Gilead to go in search of Jephthah.

Could it be that there's nobody in the whole country of Isreal at that time, who is capable of becoming the captain? Or it was a divine arrangements.



Brothers and Sisters , as long as you belong to God's kingdom ; The Lord has made a way of breakthrough for you through His gift that is inside of you

Judges 11:1 says:
_Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a *mighty man of valour*, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah_

It is the Lord that has made Him so, in order to make him fit into His divine arrangements

Philippians 2:13 says:

_For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure_

The Lord has placed some gifts inside of You. Are you making use of it to be a blessing unto lives?

A day is coming when that gift would become a national demand and you will soar higher in God's glory.

One major Factor that determines a man's success in any aspiration or goal ; is the presence of God.

In our memory verse today, we see Jephthah going before the Lord ; irrespective of his gift or what he thinks he posess.


Brethren, it is the presence of God that can make us achieve success and win every battles of life.
Let's not think we know it all; but let's take time to seek His face and we will see more of His grace.

Power is the of strength, why strength is the hope of strong.
For someone to breakthrough there must be a power to or force, to be able to move you on.
The early Apostles needed this power so that they too can be strong.

People to recieve this power are a repented heart, save and separated from sin.

How can one recieve this power for breakthrough?
Buy repenting from kinds of sin and asking for it.

Key was made to open lock door selflly.
And in key it was made one for each door.
And the key our Lord Jesus christ is telling us is the great master key.
It opens all kinds of door and when he opens it no one can close. No wonder he said who is he that will close when our Lord has open.
When He said yes nobody can say no.

The usefulness of this key is to unlock all the lock pleaces in your lives.
All courses following you knowing or unknowing this morning u will get that key and it shall follow u no more.

The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

We all face struggles every now and then in our daily lives. It might be academical, financial, emotional, spiritual e.t.c. However until we get to that point in which we realize that our flesh and strength will fail us, and only God can be the strength of our hearts, we will keep struggling without achieving the desired goals. Take for instance a lifeguard who wants to rescue someone drowning in water. He would only start the rescue operation, after the person drowning has stopped making efforts due to loss of strength. This is because, if the lifeguard attempts to rescue the person drowning while still struggling with his life, there are chances that the drowning person might kick the lifeguard with his legs or arms, jeopardizing the whole process. It is the same with us. Until we get to a point where by we realize our strength, wisdom, ability… can no longer save us, we put God in a position where he waits on us from afar, to realize our helplessness. The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit

Then the man said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob replied, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."

Jacob was a very focussed, goal oriented and hardworking man. He was so diligent that he worked hard for 14 years, to marry the woman she loved. This must be an all time record. He even outmaneuvered Laban, to acquire the best of his flock, in probably the first scientific ingenious in the bible. He like several of us had been wrestling with God, believing he could achieve all on his own. However he got to a point where he realized, that all he had was a figment of what God could bless him with. The source of his strength was broken, and it was apparent to him, that only God could help.
In as much as we are holding on to the steering of our life rather than handing it completely over to Him, God will just be at the back seat, watching us. Our God is a jealous God, who will not share His glory with any man. He wants us to come to the realization that whatever we are, or become, is solely because of Him. It is at this point that he will freely release His blessings on us.

Brokenness is a state of being broken. Broken means being penetrated, splited. scattered!!...

Brokenness is a state of releasing your strength, for God to take control.
In life we hold on to a lot defenses, we go through a lot of things that influence our daily actions and decisions which begins to define us, we build a wall of defense around us as a result of the thiprayer
have been through because we have been terribly hurt and we are trying to shield our heart from future hurt. Thereby closing our heart to even the very will of God or what God wants for us, making us harden our heart and become people defined by what we have been through. I tell you, you need to be broken. Until you have allowed Christ into your life...to break that wall of defense, and repair your wounds you cannot truly heal. You will only continue to hate.

Brokenness is a state of allowing God break out of your life what you use unfavourable experience, pain/hurt and hatred to build.

Topic: *BROKENNESS IN HIS EYES*
Text: 2Sam 12:1-13

[13] *And David said to Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord*......'

The difference between David and Saul is *brokenness.*

Brokenness in the eyes of God means crushed and torn in spirit over sin.

Saul disobeyed, David committed adultery and murder...whose sin weigh higher?? David's right??...before God its not the multitude of our transgression that matters to him, but the state of our brokenness (owing up to your wrong, how remorseful and repentant you are.) When Nathan told David what he did, he said *I have sinned against God* it takes a broken person to genuinely see their wrongs and repent of it. Unlike Saul who tried to defend his wrongs.

don't try to give excuses or justify your wrongs. Fall on your kneels and acknowledge it, just like David did in psalm 51. Using hatred to justify pain is not the best way to heal, you are hurting yourself and sinning against God. Trying to push God out simply because he allow some things happen is not the best way to heal, time will only cover up your wounds until similar experience open it up and you start to bleed again. Christ is the only one that can heal completely from within but until he break you, he cannot heal you.

Out of the broken pieces of life Jesus can make a mighty edifice of hope

- lord I am sorry for trying to defend my sin, please forgive me. I am sincerely sorry today

-Lord I have sinned, I have spent time hating, hurting and fighting. I am sooorry. I know I am wrong. I own up to it please forgive me.

- Lord heal me completely, heal the wounds of the past and present pain of hurt. Heal me lord!!

Text: psam 51: 17 *The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.     You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God*

A broken spirit is a spirit broken down with sorrow for sin, humbled and thoroughly penitent, one who realises his wrong and is sorrow about it. If you have gotten to the stage of life where you dont feel guilty for your sins, it means you have not been broken as a matter of fact,it means you have built defenses of sin in your heart, a bridge that blocks out your conscience from receiving signal from the holy spirit. Thereby giving you license and liberty to continue to live in sin and fall out of grace. A broken spirit is a spirit who realises his wrong, broken down to repentance, one that is consumed by grieve , humbled to repent of his wrongs.

God is not interested in why we sin, he already knows that, he is not interested in excuses, justification, even sacrifices. Sacrifice is like paying for your sins and God is not asking you to pay, God wants you to realise, remorse and repent! A broken spirit and a contrite heart God will not despise. The state of repentance and remorsefulness is what God is interested about, not the weight of our sins so don't let the devil deceieve you that your sins are too much and you can't be forgiven, Jesus died because our sins were too much and he to cleanse us from them all. So get on you kneel and make it right with God today. So he can heal your heart.
Broken hearts can become blessed heart if you let Jesus do the mending.

The person of a broken heart is the one that is humble enough to admit his/her mistake and ready for correction and restoration. Psalms 18 : 6 says *Though the Lord be high, yet hath He respect unto the lowly, but the proud He knoweth afar off.*
Having a broken heart, that is, realizing one's error and ready to repent with all genuineness, not by just shedding crocodile tears, but with the kind of repentance that comes from the heart.
As *big* and *holy* as God is, HE draws near to any person with a broken heart. This is indeed a good gesture from a loving father.
In what way have you and I erred or went astray from the truth, let come back to HIM with a broken heart and HE will surely get closer to us to restore us to HIMSELF.

I pray that the grace for us to humble ourselves for godly restoration, God shall grant to us in Jesus mighty name, amen.

Are you sick and hurt physically or spiritually? Are you undergoing any form of pains? I'm happy to inform you that the great physician is near to heal, to deliver and to put an ointment of peace in those hurtful situations for you and I to be made whole and happy.
What we just need to do to enjoy this is to accept our inadequacies and mistakes with a *broken heart* and He shall surely do the needful. Open up to Him soberly to let Him know the state of things, because HE knows all things. He never sleep nor slumber, and His eyes are in every place looking at the good and the bad. So no reason to hide anything from Him.

*But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness ,goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Against such there is no law*

The entire commandment of God can be summarized in just to laws as stated in Mark 12;30-31

1. Love God with whole of your heart and strength
2. Love your neighbour as thy self.

These two laws are the foundations of our Christian faith. In fact the God we serve is said to be love himself (1John 2:5) and that same love was demonstrated Him (John 3:16).
Rom 5:8 also gave us hint to the depth of His love. It says *"But God showed His love towards us that while we were yet in sin, Christ died for us"*
What a great God of love we serve. This should be a lesson for us today that we serve a 'love' God that needs to be loved and as His children we also need to show His virtue of love in our daily activities.

Yesterday we learnt that God is love, his nature is love and that just like him we need to love likewise.
However it might be pretty difficult for any one to emulate such kind of love. As God's kind of love is not the Philae love nor is it sexual love. The God kind of love is AGAPE love John 3:16. Only God can live this and it is only by His spirit can we do the same. And this is one very thing Gal 5;22 had pointed out to us; a nature of this God's spirit is love.

And so friends we can't truly live out God's kind of love except we posses His spirit; the infilling of the Holy spirit as it is the holy spirit that can help us live out the true, pure and undiluted love of God despite any circumstances around us. Ps 133:1-2, Eph 4:3,

Trust the Lord and His spirit to help you live out His love today that people might witness that you had been with Christ

We have learnt thus far about the who and 'whats' of true LOVE. However, we can't truly understand this concept of love except we live by it. James 1:20, 1John 3:16
So today, we shall briefly consider the theme
"Yielding to the spirit of love"
Just as mentioned earlier, the spirit of true love is not that of Philae or sexual love neither is it that which people parades in a day like this(Valentine's day). What we mean by the spirit of true love is the spirit of Agape which is the spirit of God. John 3:16
However to live by this love, some basic things has to be put in place
Kindly note the following ways to build and yield to the spirit of love

1.Through constant studying of the book of love(The Bible)
2.A constant meditation on the love of God through His word
3. Through yielding to a daily prayer life
4. Through daily practice of true love
5. Through witnessing to others
6. Through finding ways of helping and making a positive difference in people's life
7. Through obedience

Putting these basic keys in mind and doing them will set you up for a new dispensation of this spirit of love which should be desired by all men.

Topic: *FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT "LOVE"*
Text: *Galatians 5:22-23*

The fruit of the spirit has also been misinterpreted as characteristics that believers should somehow manufacture in their live. But the key to understand these qualities is in the name. And of the spirit explains exactly who causes that growth it is not our striving or straining, but the power of the Holy Spirit.
The fruit of *LOVE * may be the best example.

The English word love has very broad meaning, but the Greek language was very precis. The which the Holy Spirit manifests in believers is *Agape*. This love is not a feeling but a choice (Phil 2:3).
Agapa is used in all of the "hard" love verses in the New Testament.

1. Greater love has no one than this... John 15:13.
2. For this is the message which you have heard from thr beginning... 1John 3:11.
3. Love your enemies, do good to them... Luke 6:35.
4. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments... 1John 5:3.
It is because of love that God carried out His plan to save the world: For God so loved the world... John 3:16. We should love Love the Lord of our God and love our neighbour as yourself (Mark 12:30-31.
Love is the greatest gift God can give. First Corinthians 13 says that agape is patient.
Is this kind of *LOVE* in you?

When God's Spirit is at work in a
person, amazing things happen .
The person's whole life blossoms
and bears beautiful fruit. And the
most wonderful fruit of all is the
giving and receiving of true love.
The greatest love and
examples of love
Many of the examples of
human love in the Bible didn’t
involve any special help from
God. Even without His help,
people can have a grateful type
of love and appreciation for
their Creator.
But the Bible also reveals how
we can experience love for God
and love for people that far
exceeds mere human
capability! This highest and
purest form of love is God’s
divine and sublime love that
He offers to share with us!
In fact, love summarizes and
epitomizes the ultimate nature
of God. “He who does not love
does not know God, for God is
love” (1 John 4:8 , emphasis
added throughout). We can
learn about love from Love
Himself. God wants to
transform us so that our
character is also defined
by love.
First, consider God’s decision
to create human beings. He
didn’t need us. And God knew
what to expect initially from
His wayward creatures—
mostly grief. But because of
God’s desire to share
everything with others, He is
creating “sons and daughters”
for His expanding family (2
Corinthians 6:18 ).
Even before creation, God the
Father and the One who
became Jesus Christ knew that
to transform human beings
spiritually and bring them into
the Kingdom of God, Christ
would have to sacrifice His life
for humanity’s sins (Hebrews
10:12 ; Revelation 13:8 ).
“For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whoever believes in
Him should not perish but
have everlasting life” (John
3:16 ). That greatest-ever
demonstration of love was the
ultimate sacrifice God the
Father and Jesus Christ made
for each of us.

In our Bible text today,  we see our Commander (Jesus Christ)  who did a very difficult thing as a result of the joy which He had; knowing that once again we can have an unbroken relationship with Him. 

In our Christian race,  several challenges will come our way,  but the Joy which we have through the Holy Spirit will keep us going.

Psalms 33:21 says:

_For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name_

Brothers and Sisters, the trust we have in Jesus gives us Joy through the Holy Spirit; and this makes us rejoice even in the face of unpleasant situation knowing that our victory is ahead.

Our love for God is not complete without joy . no matter the trials , persecutions, temptation we face in our christian race, joy is an important fruit of the spirit we need to exhibit in everyday of our lives. No wonder in Philippians 4:4
*:Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice*
Irrespective of what we face , joy in the Lord always show our sincere love for God. This is another key in obeying the great commandant
Acts 5:41
*And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name*

The apostles were full of joy having being persecuted because of Jesus . This trait was discovered in the life of Jesus in Hebrew 12:2

If Jesus can do this just to save us . then the Apostles in looking up to Jesus count it worthy to suffer shame in his name .My dear brothers and sisters are we always joyful wen we face trials because of Jesus or we are always sad .
Joyfulness is equal to gratefulness
I pray that the Lord will grant us the grace to rejoice always in the Lord irrespective of the situation we are in Jesus name

The greatest reason to be joyful as a child of God is because of our salvation . from our text above the 72 were full of joy because of their spiritual maturity but Jesus told them to be more joyful because their names are in the book of life.

Psalm 51:12

*Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.*

In the Bible verse above king David was begging God to restore unto him the joy of salvation so that he will not be cast away from God's presence. He previously wrote in
psalm 16:11
: *Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.*

Luke 15:7
*:I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.*

After the parable of the lost sheep Jesus made us to understand that there is fullness of joy in heaven for for every soul that is come to salvation
As a child of God , we are expected to be joyful because of our salvation and also make heaven rejoice by winning soul for Christ . the grace to do it, God Almighty will grant it to us in Jesus mighty name
