In a defiant tone Thursday, the Federal Government blamed the passage of anti-open grazing law in some states as the cause of the recent killings by herdsmen in some of the states.

The government has been accused of bias in its handling of the crisis, with critics asking why perpetrators of the violence have not been arrested.

Benue governor, Samuel Ortom, whose state has suffered the latest bout of bloodletting, said two weeks ago that he informed the federal government of planned attacks by herdsmen, yet the state received no protection.

In its latest reaction Thursday, the government did not blame the attackers responsible for at least 72 deaths this year. It said the decision of some states to enact laws to stop open grazing triggered the violence.

It also said the “remote” cause of the violence was the violation of areas demarcated over the years as grazing reserves.

Benue, Taraba and Ekiti are some of the states where the anti-open grazing law has taken effect.
The laws were enacted after several states suffered deadly violence often blamed on herdsmen.

Hundreds of Nigerians were killed in the first two days of this year in some of these clashes in Benue and Taraba states.
The Benue State government organised a mass burial on January 12 for 72 of the victims of the killings in Logo and Guma local government areas of the state.

Speaking on the plans by the federal government to check the deadly clashes between farmers and herders, the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, said the anti-open grazing law sparked off the clashes.

Mr. Dan-Ali, who was briefing State House correspondents at the end of a meeting of security chiefs with President Muhammadu Buhari, urged Nigerians to learn to accept foreigners in their areas.

He also said it is illegal for state governments to set up and arm forest guards.

“Whatever crisis that happened at any time, there has to be remote and immediate causes,” the minister said.
“What are the remote causes of this farmers/herders crisis? Since Independence, we know there used to be a route whereby these cattle rearers use.

“Cattle rearers are all over the nation, you go to Bayelsa, you see them, you go to Ogun, you see them. If those routes are blocked, what happens? These people are Nigerians, it’s just like you going to block river or shoreline, does that make sense to you?

“These are the remote causes. But what are the immediate causes? It is the grazing law. These people are Nigerians, we must learn to live together with each other, that is basic.
“Communities and other people must learn how to accept foreigners within their enclave, finish!” he said.

Mr. Dan-Ali faulted the decision by some states to set up and arm forest guards, saying it is illegal.
He said fully armed militia were arrested in some states, adding that killings were from all sides.

To check the crisis, the minister said the quarterly security meeting with President Buhari decided to set up a commission on small arms proliferation in the country.
He said the decision was “in compliance with the presidential directive for the establishment of National Commission on the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons in the country.”

He said the Ministry of Defence, in conjunction with the office of the National Security Adviser, “has set up a committee to work out modalities to transform the Presidential Committee on Small Arms and Light Weapons, PRESCOM, to a National Commission”.

He said the committee will be inaugurated Thursday at the office of the NSA.

Mr. Dan-Ali also said the meeting discussed the issue of the purchase of “Super Tucano” aircraft from the United States of America, USA.

He said the meeting discussed the terms and conditions of the purchase “and agreed that the conditions are a bit stringent”.

He said the meeting resolved that the Defence Minister and the NSA should meet with the USA Ambassador to Nigeria to review some of the conditions.

He said the cost of the aircraft is $494 million, including for training and maintenance capabilities.

“However, deadline for the payment was given as February 20, this year,” he said.

The Defence Minister said the meeting discussed “some of the issues at hand, that is the farmers/herders crisis, which the IG gave full details”.

Mr. Dan-Ali said the formation of the commission on small arms proliferation is one of the key measures being taken to curb the wanton killings in the country.

He's never hidden his love for what the herdsmen are doing.

Buhari has never hidden his sympathy for the senseless killings perpetrated by his brothers but you see people making arguments to defend him.

Buhari is a monster and bloodthirsty. I hope the goons watching social media see this.

Should we then kill because we don't like the law? Should we then butcher people because a fool was constitutionally made President? What a foolish argument.

I have ruminated over this issue for a long time . I have gone deep and come out of the other side .
First things first .
Buhari like Jonathan and his SE goons ,Yar adua before him ,has shown himself incapable of going beyond crude nepotism .
Just like Jonathan, he is running an extremely clannish government .
Buhari must be a one term president.

To my main point . After much analysis , I have come to the conclusion That someone somewhere ordered these so-called herdsmen to forcefully settle on other people's land and if they meet any resistance, murder ,plunder and destroy.
This new terror started under Jonathan with the Fulani/ herdsmen using the vacuum of leadership to continue their expansionist tendencies. It has continued .
The cattles are just occupational disguise . The mission is to forcefully occupy the people's land.
The villagers did not steal their cattle. Those are just made up excuses to continue their terror .
Anyone who has travelled widely in Nigeria will tell you that there are thousand of hectares of unoccupied grasslands in the north that are faraway from human habitation. But it is exactly where people live and settle that they want to graze their cow .
Tell that to the dogs
These herdsmen not only kill , they slaughter their victims in a Textbook Jihadist style .
Even the single roaming herder rapes women(kufirs) .
The Fulanis are not only involved in jihadist /ISIS related activities in Maiduguri, they are active in Mali , Central African Republic,Chad ,Nigeria etc .
Did people actually listen to that professor of nonsense who claimed Benue belong to the Fulani ?
Can you remember that Rep who said that Bayelsa's oil belongs to Jigawa?
People laughed that away as if it was clown talking .I have heard that deluded supremacist crap many times . Believe me , they are serious and they act to that ideology .They really do believe that they are special and Nigeria belongs to them to lord over.

What should be done ?
Everybody must put pressure on their governors to pass the anti grazing law . After more than 50 years of putting up with the self entitled antics of a minority ,

1 nomadic education, we fund it

2 No religion in census ,we allow it .

3 money on a self inflicted NW/NE boko haram wound , we waste money to fight it .

4 A Minority with more representation in parliament, we allow it .

5 Change the structure of the country for progress to happen , they fight it

6 More states and LG to siphon funds , we Sidon dey look .

7 Sharia in a country that is supposed to be secular , we do nothing .

8 They ban beer , Ban wine yet partake in sharing the funds from alcohol thereby allow the petulance of the Fulani elites to continue to use religion to emasculate and lord over their masses .

At what stage do we say that
enough is enough .

Everybody must send a clear message to their leaders ,Obas , politicians .
Enough is enough .
And they must be ready to exchange these myopic, corrupt and idiotic self serving leaders with people who are ready to make a stand .

No cattle colony
No government funded ranches ( apart from normal technical assistance to Nigerians.)
No killers to be allowed to settle in our midst .

The issues we have ended up dealing with is to support the medieval culture of a minority/non indigenous tribe who have shown an unwillingness to move beyond the 9th century.

EDIT

After my comment , I came about this video saying exactly what is happening from those at the receiving end .
Please watch this video.

Now it is getting clearer, Buhari and his gang should know that one day, they would be made to account for their deeds and it will be said, were their deeds not written in the hearts and minds of Nigerian chronicles?

Their names would be mentioned and their wickedness would be remembered even unto their 10th generation

Buhari and his gang are certified mad men , was it not the killings by herdsmen that necessitated the anti grazing bills in the first place, If Fulanis were just passing through communities in peace and not attacking them would there be need for any anti grazing law ...What about Adamawa and Kaduna states that have been attacked relentlessly by blood thirsty herdsmen, do they also have anti grazing laws ..As at today only two states in Nigeria have anti grazing laws enacted yet Fulani herdsmen are actively carrying out attacks in 28 states ..Did Olu Falae also enact anti grazing laws for herdsmen to keep humiliating him every now and then on his own private farm with no response from the Buhari govt ...Nigerian it is clear that the Buhari govt is an attempt to re-enact the jihadist sagas of Usman Dan Fodio in the 21st century..

First they're foreigners who have a right to go through Nigeria with their cattle because of ECOWAS protocols even if they kill and destroy.
Now they're Nigerians who have a right to reside in any part of the country they want according to the constitution even if they kill and destroy.
The FG has totally acquited the herdsmen of all atrocities the herdsmen openly confessed to even on live TV. It's clearly evident to all eyes that the FG is complicit in the genocide being perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen, you accept them in your communities, allow them destroy your crops, rápe your women, burn your houses, kill your men and kids etc, you either accept these criminals or get killed while this FG looked away. Nigeria is really a zoo created by Buhari cool

So what the FG is saying is that they are hell bound on forcing fulani grazing route / colonies on Nigerians even at the cost of any number of deaths.

If not for some 15m simpletons we wouldn't be in this shitty situation where a nepotistic bigot keeps poking fingers in our faces that opinions of the majority don't matter.

Do we need any other evidence to confirm these guys are complicit in the killings?
