And you don't think Ezenwa would have did the same today?
How did his saves against Angola compare to Ajiboye's? I'm talking strenght of opposition etc

TheSuperNerd:
Actually they were.... Ezenwa was marvellous against Angola.

But you see... One point must be made. I have always rated Ajiboye ahead of Ezenwa personally. I just haven't seen the need to engage in the Goalkeepers talk much.

From the 2007 U-17 WC to the 2009 U-20 AYC, Ajiboye has always been in my heart. What Ajiboye showed today in just his first CHAN GAME at such a crucial stage was simply World class and just a reminder of the abilities that I knew he already possessed. That guy has real class between the sticks.

You needed to see how relaxed I was when I remembered that Ajiboye was on the bench when Ezenwa was being treated for his injury. I was just smiling because I knew that if Ajiboye comes in, Sudan no go score again. Looollll Yes! I was that confident because like you said, you just know a good player when you see him. He doesn't need many games. wink

So uhmmm... Consider my meme a joke. I was only telling you Ezenwa's mind as regards your comment... Looolll... Nothing serious to it... Hahahahahahahahaha...

Everton tried to stop him from going to Germany but he was dead set on the move. I am proud that the young man elected to leave his comfort zone. I am sure Rohr will have his eye on him

TheSuperNerd:
E go shock people when Alampasu is given a chance to man the posts for just one game and he also produces magic... Then talks will be on who to drop between Ezenwa and Ajiboye... because Uzoho and Alampasu will become untouchables... grin

Someone should just ask Rohr on Ebuehi... Lolll
Lol. In Ebuehi’s case, he will fit in nicely in a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formation because he has 3 lungs needed for the role.

But I’m happy that there is such competition for the GK spots. It will keep all keepers in contention on their toes, and result in very little complacency from them in the upcoming friendlies and training sessions.

I believe this is the first major tourney since the 1998 World Cup where no one is really sure about the World Cup-bound goalkeepers. In 1998, the big debate was whether to recall Rufai from semi-retirement or stick with Abiodun Baruwa and Willy Okpara, who both failed to impress in the then pre-WC friendlies.

I only asked because I didn't watch the Angola game. That's all
Ezenwa is too playful for my liking. But I won't take anything away from him.

Some of those our players when dey chop better bench will be allowed to go compete. Nigeria has too many players abroad. But well the policy should not be something that will favor only Nigeria

Modified
Let’s not also forget some Scandinavian leagues and Asian leagues that run a different calendar somewhat
tbaba1234:
Except it is within Africa. Few European clubs will want to release players in the middle of the season.

Happy for Ademola Lookman's move... (First reported on the thread by Oasis007 and followed by Oloriooko)

RB Leipzig have a strong reputation for building and working with some of the world's finest young talents. Lookman gets to meet Forsberg and co... Wish him the very best... Hope he becomes an Eagle and not a Lion wink

Nigerian youngster Noah Okafor signs pro deal with FC Basel
by Tolu Olasoji, Correspondent

https://images.performgroup.com/di/library/GOAL/12/79/noah-okafor-basel_jjoul5x3c8xb1kxcdwnherc0q.jpg

The teenager has been tied to a two-and-a-half years deal with the Swiss top-flight champions

Noah Okafor has signed his first professional contract with Swiss giants, FC Basel in a deal that runs through till the summer of 2020.

The winger, of Nigerian descent, was rewarded for his superb displays in the youth rank and has become a member of Raphael Wicky's side. He will wear the no. 11 jersey.

Okafor, 17, has been with the Swiss Super League side since he was eight, coming through the ranks. He scored twice, laying four others in five Uefa Youth League games with the U19 side this season.

A member of Switzerland U18 side, the youngster is described as a 'very versatile player', according to sporting director Marco Streller.

The club's personnel was also excited as the teenager committed his future to the club, despite interests from top European sides.
"Noah is a very versatile player, a great talent from our own ranks," said Streller.

"Many top clubs in Europe showed a real interest in him, so we are very happy that he has made the commitment to FCB and that we have been able to retain him."

Okafor will be looking to help the second-placed Basel retain their league title and also progress past Manchester City in the knockout stage of the Uefa Champions League.

The Swiss youth international is still eligible to play for Nigeria.

The silent rise of Noah Okafor at Basel.

We lost out on Manuel Akanji. I hope we don't lose out on Okafor.

He is majorly a LW who also features as a LM and surprisingly a CF. His Stats are mainly from Swiss U-18 elite league games and UEFA Youth league games.

He has 8 goals from 12 appearances in the U-18 elite league for Basel.
In the UYL, he has 2 goals and 4 assists in 5 appearnaces.

In 15 appearances as a LW, his stats read 8 goals and 4 assists.
In two appearances as a CF, he has one goal.
As an LM, no goal.

I say we should keep an eye on Basel's newest no.11

Mickael2:
the reference point here is the 2010 WC, so that means we need to consider his exploits in the U23 not U17 and Vanzekin was a class apart in that tourney.

See in the GK department, special talents come up every year and the national team alone cannot groom all of them. Was De Gea groomed by the Spanish national team? Neur? MaTStegen? The goalkeeping department is groomed by the clubsides, all the Gks of the top footballing countries were groomed there and if you ask me Ajiboye has been groomed well by the NPFL, the only issue is that our coaches are not up to the required standard
Ajiboye is no way rated among the top best goalies in the World. If that is grooming well in your books, no problem.

How can you ask about Spanish National team and grooming De Gea. You are clearly off track. Get the point.

The Europeans have a system that helps in grooming their top talents. We have been fortunate to have some of our special talent groomed in the same system. Iheanacho is a clear case.

Some of our special talents will not have the opportunity to get into such system, and we need to make conscious efforts to help groom and expose them.

Ajiboye was outstanding. We do not produce keepers like him regularly but we did not make efforts to help him grow despite his immense talent. We should do more.

The point is too simple.

Vanzekin is and was no where in talent close to Akpan Bassey, let alone Ajiboye. I wonder why you are bringing him into the picture.

Based on these three alone (leaving out Alampasu for now), I foresee the arrangement to be this after the competition for places.... (just an early forecast with no deep discussion into it)

Rohr's likely Top 3 in order:

-Uzoho

-Ezenwa

-Ajiboye

My top three in order:

-Uzoho

-Ajiboye

-Ezenwa

I do not believe that Ezenwa is better than Alampasu. So I wonder the clamor for him to go to Russia ahead of Alampasu.

The Goalkeeping Department should screen and select the best. I am tired of the gimmicks.

I hope you all remember Akpan David Udoh of Amuneke's 2015 U-17 Golden Eaglets team.

He is another for the long term future. He is in Israel with Ihud Bnei Sakhnin and features prominently for their U-19. Hoping his growth/Development yields fine fruit.

I remember many comparing him to an Enyeama back in Chile 2015.

If he continues to start and starts scoring, Osimhen could be going to the world cup

If I throw in Alampasu and Rohr gives him just one game... then I think Ezenwa may not be on the plane to Russia because Alampasu will most likely not disappoint. He has been patiently waiting for his turn.

I believe we should select and take the best too. I hope Enrico Pionetti does his job and not allow Alloy Agu bring in his politics...

Look at his injury, He came rushing out with his feet when Eze had it covered,

The reports from camp showed that Ajiboye was better. The game yesterday proved the report right. For a long time I have clamored for fairness in selection and that camping results are more accurate than the so called historical, experience, club position sentimental choices.

I can not say more than that.
