successinlife:How can you compare Ife to Lagos? Lagos is a Country in a Country |
| Re: Moshood Abiola University Vs Alex Ekwueme University by tunene66: 6:50pm On Feb 04, 2018 |
ObaIgwe1:Let's remember that the renaming of the University of Ife was done under a military administration, some kicked against it then using the same reason people did when GEJ renamed University of Lagos, Moshood Abiola University |
| Re: Moshood Abiola University Vs Alex Ekwueme University by Ngokafor(f): 6:52pm On Feb 04, 2018 |
Yorubas are funny people i swear....I am just smh reading their reasons for rejecting the name Moshood Abiola.. As usual they are already preempting Igbos and insisting we would have have done the same thing for UNN.. ![]() Yet they claim to love Abiola and June 12 so much...very odd set of people. |
| Re: Moshood Abiola University Vs Alex Ekwueme University by Shikena(m): 6:52pm On Feb 04, 2018 |
successinlife:There were protests back then but IBB won't have it - military dictatorship. Besides, OAU was Awolowo's vision. He built the school. UNILAG's history is different. There is no basis for changing the name to MKO's after about 50 years of existence. |
| Re: Moshood Abiola University Vs Alex Ekwueme University by Alariiwo: 6:52pm On Feb 04, 2018 |
Unilag is a brand on its own.. an ivory tower in Africa. The one renamed after Ekweme is unknown, hence the silence. He should have renamed UNN after him, let's see what their reactions would be. |
| Re: Moshood Abiola University Vs Alex Ekwueme University by Ngokafor(f): 6:52pm On Feb 04, 2018 |
ObaIgwe1:You lots should learn to talk about what you know instead of throwing false postulations around....Nnamdi Azikiwe did not want UNN named after him, while Odumegwu Ojukwu led a secession against Nigeri,so the Nigerian Government would not name any monument after him.. Be that as it may...Igbos would not have minded having UNN named after them...We are not as petty as your people biko. |

Ngokafor:There is Moshood Abiola polytechnic existing already in another South West State. Why should Jonathan rename a top uni after him again in a different state? who send am. Instead of declaring him winner in the annuled election, he was busy chasing shadows. Nonsense! |

Ngokafor:The petty one here is you.. with your useless GEJ. Nothing stops him from declaring Abiola winner and making him GCFR. That would have been the most appropriate thing to do. I don't expect it to go well with you since you lots voted against him. Still won't change the fact that he won. You could have asked him to rename Nigeria after Abiola so we can clap for him. Nonsense! |

asuustrike2009:Leave the ranters to bear their own woes. Why will you compare Unilag to Federal University Ebonyi. When OAU was renamed from Uniife, it was easy cos of two reasons, 1. the contribution of Awolowo to education was unrivaled. 2. It was done shortly after he passed on in 1987. The Ebonyi renaming followed similar pattern. The school is still young and the renaming was done during the burial of Ekwueme. For Unilag, the renaming was very ill-thought. It was too political. Plus University of Lagos name has grown over many decades. Jonathan wanted to score cheap political point in South West and the SW people would have none of it... Imagine that OBJ dies today, and they decide to change University of Ibadan to Olusegun Obasanjo University. Dem no go try am. They will pick the new Federal University in Ekiti to rename. It is what it is.. |

Alex and Abiola they are incomparable and incompatible, just to show you an example write Alex computer recognizes his name then write Abiola computer doesn't know that one. the way his people rejected his name when Jonathan named unilag Abiola university that is the way computer is rejecting his name when typed Abiola. |

Ngokafor:I thought I was the only one reading their comments here and shaking my head too. Their hypocrisy stinks to the high heavens. Shebi they are bragging and chestbeating about how they removed GEJ...i am patiently waiting for 2019 lemme see how they will remove Buhari who has brought poverty and suffering to their doorstep so that I will see how formidable they claim they are in deciding the political process of this country. Hypocrites!! |

pinnket:Same way the Old Boys of the first secondary school in Nigeria fought for three years to get Lagos State Government revert to it's old name, CMS Grammar School, Lagos. In 1973, the state government changed the CMS Grammar School, Lagos to Lagos Anglican Boys Grammar School, Bariga. LASG reverted to the old name in 1976 after much pressure from the Old Grammarians' Society (OGS), the school's Old Boys' Association. |
