texazzpete: Yeah, it's sort of harsh but guess the real owners of Lagos are tired of the "no man's land" rhetorics. It's only right they set the record straight. 38 Likes 1 Share |

valentineuwakwe: Must they copy Lagos state When Northern states started their Sharia law, did others in the South follow? No. So it’s not compulsory for other states to follow. If you must attend school in the West, you can go to Osun, Oyo, Ondo for now where there is no law about Yoruba language being used for admission. 11 Likes |

It is a good decision /program. How will you implement this program? Does that means an Ibo boy from Anambra State or Hausa boy from Kano State can not apply to higher institution that belongs to Lagos State? |

And the govt keeps quiet. Later, you wonder why we don't grow as a nation. I no wan learn am, no be by force; and it shouldn't hinder one's progress in goals. It is funny how people blame the north for their archaic religious laws but are complacent and even supportive if it's their own tribe. I would not support this type of divisive law that shouldn't be set by the state or lga if it were igbo, so i will not support it now. The govt should make it easy to sue Lagos state or any other state on this type of foolishness. |

A poorly thought out law I must say , it will only set a precedence and act as catalyst tribal and ethnic driven agendas to spread across the land . |

akeentech:And you think that makes sense? What's the use addressing people when majority of them don't understand what you are saying? So, just because I speak French and I want to address a particular audience, I will now use French when I can speak the language that a great percentage of them understand? You are addressing them because there is a message you want to pass across to them. If at the end of the speech the intended message wasn't passed across, then there was no address. 3 Likes |

Interesting. Was it not this same month that the French government asked Nigerians to come school in France as they were now offering courses in English. Here in Nigeria, we are moving backward. What is the value of Yoruba language to a person studying an Engineering course? Retrogressive policies 1 Like |

vioment:You are the foolish one, is it your business on how Yorubas make laws on their land. When your brothers were calling "Lagos a no man's land" did you call them out? No I guess, so leave us to make laws how we see fit for our state. 27 Likes 1 Share |

Vado: Honestly this a good move from Lagos State. Meanwhile, the only means to make a language acceptable is via commerce, science and technology and manufacturing. Conquest itself cannot sustain a language otherwise, Latin wouldn't have died by now even Fulfide of the Fulani would hold sway in the Northern part of Nigeria! A language is sustainable only through science and technology coupled with manufacturing of the peopl. Manufacturing conquers the world!English will continue to dominate because of Manufacturing, science and Technology. if Lagos starts manufacturing shoes, tables, clothes, computers and their manuals are written in Yoruba, the world would be forced to learn Yoruba.Otherwise, the enactment remains dead as the arid desert! See how the world is switching to Chinese. 12 Likes 2 Shares |

1shortblackboy: There's an issue of educational inequality in the People's Republic of China. This is not a tribal issue. Njgerians should realize this law is only applicable to state owned institutions therefore they have the right. That's why we have federal universities. 4 Likes 1 Share |
