Does the same apply to others in your region? When your people refuse to sell land to yorubas because of they commited the crime of being Yoruba, do you have any issue with it? When they spew hatred towards us, do you react to it? When they call Lagos no man's land, do you call them to order? Quit being an hypocrite and be proud of your ethnicity. State of origin means where you originated from so even if all your amcestors were born in Lagos, DNA will always reveal who the legitimates are and who the illegitimates are so stop deceiving yourself.
people that usually make this statement havent actually sought to buy land in the towns and cities in the east before

What is the question again? And please do not divert my point, which is since me and you have equal rights in Lagos, this city belongs to me as much as it belongs to you.
td2tnkstr:
.
Now you answer my own questions.
1. Do you or do you not have problems with your people treating others the direct opposite way you demand they treat you?
2. Why are you ashamed of your own ethnicity? Why are you ashamed to lay claims to Aba, Onitsha, Enugu and the rest? Afterall you all claim they are more developed than the southwest.
3. Why always coveting westerners possession? (which is a sin going by the bible)
I'm waiting.

Does it matter? We hear the stories. Same way people who claim yorubas are not trustworthy have never had any dealing with them. What is your point?

That is not all. Lagos is our ancestral land. Our possession, our heritage. No matter how many centuries you live here, you will always be seen as a visitor.
We can contest for gubernatorial position which is a dream you can never achieve.
Now you answer my own questions.
1. Do you or do you not have problems with your people treating others the direct opposite way you demand they treat you?
2. Why are you ashamed of your own ethnicity? Why are you ashamed to lay claims to Ana, Onitsha, Enugu and the rest? Afterall you all claim they are more developed than the southwest.
3. Why always coveting westerners possession? (which is a sin going by the bible)

First question makes no sense to me.

Second question, Lagos is a state in Nigeria, until you break away from Nigeria. Lagos is my City.

Third question, I never converted anyone's possession, everything I own I worked hard for it.

I was even surprised you didn't reply the Osita guy, did you hear what he said. He said Yorubas are having their way in Lagos because we are the dominant tribe and that if tomorrow by reason of migration his people dominate by population in Lagos they will be the one having their way.

Can you just imagine when is not like we displaced another tribe to over take Lagos, I told him they must bring about a genocide on all Yorubas on our ancestral land before they can take over Lagos.

Waa she re jare. Thumbs up.

The question doesnt make sense to you because you are an hypocrite. I know igbos to be bloody hypocrites. You treat people badly but expect them to pet you and babyfeed you. Ironic! What doesnt make sense to me is your hypocrisy and sense of entitlement.

This law should only be valid for people of Yoruba origin so it can be fair. You don't want to eliminate all the smart people from other areas in the country from Lady or Unilag just because they cant pass Yoruba exam. That would be most unfair.

PS: I'm Yoruba.

Please read the OP again... For tertiary institutions in particular, the law affects only those owned by, or operated on behalf of the Lagos State government.

French is the official language of the enclave of Quebec. the vast majority of residents in Quebec are french speaking.

your analogy is not apt, as English remains the official language in ALL territories in Nigeria.

You miss my point. It is sought to draw your attention to the fact that while English Language is as National in Canada as French it would not be it to insist on conducting your affairs in English Language in Quebec. I hope you got my drift.

Yoruba can only enact such a law wen they form a country. As long as they are still within Nigeria, this law is very dead long before it will arrive. During the next admissions, No one will even talk about this and besides we all know Lagos is not yoruba land.

Your response discloses part of the problems the Nigerian State is faced with. The sooner we run a proper Federation the better. We lay claim to a Federal arrangement and run a Unitary system in reality which is why somebody called IGP sits faraway at Abuja pretending to be policing the large mass that Nigeria is and the Fulanis insist on their nomadic lifestyle which is alien to the other Federating units of Nigeria. To say Lagos is not Yoruba is to say Owerri is not Igbo and Kano is not Hausa simply because they have become cosmopolitan.

If you can’t learn or speak Yoruba, pls, go back to your region

If you see Yorubas in your region, make it compulsory for them to speak your language

Oga, go back and read the constitution. Lagos state house of assembly has the right to make laws pertaining to educational institutions established and run by the state. If you do not like this law, go to a federal institution. Chikena!

I definitely would read the constitution on that. Thanks for the reminder and your maturity in pointing it out. As for the other haters, no yoruba learning or speaking for me. If you no dey speak english or pidgin, that means we no suppose communicate.

we can't manufacture ordinary pencil!...
hence my notion that we should jettison non-working languages for working ones so that we can CATCH UP with the rest of the world technically! even English language hasn't advanced us much.

If you don’t like it, move back to your red mud region
Let them sign every thing that they want to sign, Na today?

The fact remains that as long as we are in Nigeria, No citizen will be denied their right. Everyone who passes jamb post jamb n waec in Lagos will gain admission. This last just like the other useless ones the Lagos assembly has passed is useless n dead before arrival.

As long as its one Nigeria, Every citizen will enjoy everything available.

Keep kwayiet dia! shocked The fact that you never heard about such a law, does not mean that it doesn't exist. Anambra and Imo states enacted the law on teaching and studying of Igbo language and made it compulsory till today, for all students at primary and secondary school level to study and pass it, in order to be promoted to the next class.

And why is it 'justifiable' for such a law to be enacted in Igbo land, but it is not permissible, for Lagos state to do the same? Stop this hypocrisy, biko. According to you, Lagos is not Yoruba land....okay, I guess it must be Ibibio land or Kalabari land then, not so? shocked

No need to call ibibio or Kalahari here, U know personally who Lagos belongs to. It's public knowledge
