LaudableXX: All my family members immediate and extended all attended Federal Universities and Institutions. States' tertiary institutions are mediocre and expensive. No value for money. |

LaudableXX: Your comprehension skills need some brush up, where did I mention black are majority in the UK? Or you don't understand what is the meaning of constituency. To repeat my self, majority in their constituency are blacks and non-whites. To hold a position in a parliament you have to be voted in by your constituency. I hope you learnt something new today. |

ositadima1:You mentioned it in your previous post. Go back and read it, and stop denying what you said. Were you not the same one who said that black politicians won seats into the UK parliament, in your bid to draw an analogy with your story about those Yoruba people becoming a minority tribe in Lagos? Were you not the one who wrote this? ositadima1: |

Re: Yoruba Mandatory For Admission In Lagos Tertiary Institutions by LaudableXX: 1:10pm On Feb 13, 2018 |
ositadima1:You are the one playing dumb. When you goof, you should apologise and seek enlightenment, but you are too dumb to do that. Someone has corrected you that not all the black politicians elected into the UK parliament, came from a predominantly black community. And you used your own keyboard to type the fact that the Yoruba people could become a minority in future, which was why you cited the UK example, to highlight what could happen in Lagos, in the near future. So why are you denying it? ositadima1: ositadima1: |

LaudableXX: If you didn't want to be lumped in with the rest of the e-tribal warriors on Nairaland, you would couch your words better. I can only go by what you put down, as well as your choice of words. Secondly, given that it is a mandatory requirement for admission and may disadvantage non-lagosians who are unable to be sufficiently skilled in the language, it may well be far from 'harmless'. |

daywatcher: Chi Onwurah is the MP for Newcastle Constituency which is 88% white. Chuka Umunna is the MP for Streatham Constituency which is 58.2% white. Fiona Onasanya is the MP for Peterborough Constituency which is 70.9% white. Kate Badenoch is the MP for Edmonton Constituency which is 64.7% white. Indirectly it supports my original point, you may not need ethnic majority to get elected to political position in a democracy. I envisage an Igbo governor elect for Lagos State, after all it's not by ethnicity as pointed out by friend; LaudableXX: 2 Likes |

Re: Yoruba Mandatory For Admission In Lagos Tertiary Institutions by daywatcher: 2:44pm On Feb 13, 2018 |
ositadima1: You are right but its highly unlikely or even impossible Yorubaland, and by extension Nigeria, will get there anytime soon. Because, if an Igbo becomes governor of Eko-Lagos he or she will devote significant effort into relegating or promoting Igbo culture over Yoruba culture. For this reason and the foreseeable future a Yoruba man will always govern Eko-Lagos. 1 Like |

And finally the dust settles...the law was done for a purpose. The West,Yorubaland had continued to attract both foreigners and Nigerian since time immemorial..main reason the capital was taken to Lagos.Azikiwe was one of the first Igbos to fight tooth and nail that Lagos is not Yorubaland..lol...as if it can be taken or carried by Chukueku bus to the SE.It is difficult to claim Lagos away from the Yorubas especially Aworis who came from I've just like other Yorubas.Benin people later came and became the first king in Lagos Island.Lagos formally had 5 local governments until it was widened... taking part of the former western region,15 local governments were created from this part....to make up the present local governments where Ijebu etc could now claim that they are Lagos indigenes.Lagos is a blessed state and as such a lot of mouth skirmishes like this will arise but Yorubas will always be the Obas and owners of their ancestral land. The Igbos, especially should take heart and live happily amongst the Yorubas because Lagos will forever be a Yorubaland and we will forever protect it with all we have got...even legally.May all tribes continue to prosper in Lagos state and Nigeria as a whole.EKO KONI BAJE O...ITESIWAJU EKO LO JE WA LOGUN.IT IS OUR ANCESTRAL LAND AND GOD IN HIS INFINITE MERCIES WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE IT GROW ASTRONOMICALLY AS WE CONTINUE TO RULE IT TO GREATNESS.. 2 Likes |

daywatcher: Yeah, but it's possible, if Lagos experience a change in ethnic demography, in other words if the Yoruba man gets outnumbered as more and more people migrate over the years, acquiring properties as well. After all, domination is a numbers thing. |

Re: Yoruba Mandatory For Admission In Lagos Tertiary Institutions by ositadima1(m): 3:34pm On Feb 13, 2018 |
daywatcher: I don't think there is much that can be done, it might take decades but ethnicity will mean less and less expecially in the urban areas. It's already happening, in other places too. |

texazzpete: sorry my sister. Yoruba is an homogeneous language in SW part of Nigeria. and in some west Africa... we can make the Yoruba language the lingua franca in the nearest future. when most residents of Lagos most have assimilate the culture. mandarins is China official language they also have hundreds of ethnic language. like uiyghur. if the Yoruba are taking step to reverse colonization. you shouldn't fault them. others should find means to do so. 2 Likes |
