why making these fraudulent incomplete numbers by now when alot of traceable, legit law abiding citizens residing currently in Nigeria have not been given chance to register and collect voters card instantly like it was done for my personal and business taxpayer Identification registration i appled for in Oyo state.

The solution to a free and fair 2019 election i always say is using BVN as a default registration system so far our full traceable biometric info is already available with the Government..

I pray 2019 election is without violence and God's almighty loving peaceful Will be done. Amen

Please present facts with states and LGAs and wards that do not have registeration centers in the SE. Do a bit of comparison with other regions where they have the highest number of voters already and make this issue a trending one that people in the affected areas should support. This would demonstrate your assertions that voters registeration in SE is much more cumbersome and most likely deliberate. The time to act is now not after the deed is done already at the scheduled polls. Social media is a powerful tool and people reserve the right to bring up cases of injustice on it.

My people, the Igbos only prefer to play their own politics on social media with hatred and bitterness. They won't register now. Even if they register, on election day, they won't come out to vote but when someone from the north or someone who's not their candidate wins, they will retire to the social media to cry foul or even for a group, demanding for secession. We Igbos need to learn the intricacies of Nigerian politics.
My brother, am Igbo n its hurts me that we Igbos r the architects of our own political misfortune n what makes it more ironical n painful is that we r good at pointing fingers at the wrong people or reasons for our political backwardness n misfortune

Since from day one you guys hated Buhari, is not because of his incompetency but because he is a Northerner and a Muslim.

My problem with you people is you misunderstood politics, politics is a game but you are taking it too serious and personal, i guess you guys need some turtorials from your Northern and Southwest counterparts.

No permanent friend no permanent enemy, all you need is the strongest allies.
You are very wrong, historically, Igbos have been voting for Northern Muslims until buhari appeared on the scene and showed the whole world his nepotistic, ethnocentric & religious agenda. Many Igbos voted for Shagari in 1979, many Igbos voted for Bashir Tofa in 1993, many Igbos voted for Shehu Yaradua in 2007. All these guys are Northern Muslims yet we voted for them because they were not religious bigots, ethnic or nepotistic but buhari has shown that he is so primitive and myopic in reasoning and actions. This same man despite being an ex military head of state went and challenged a state governor (Lam Adeshina) of old Oyo state and accused him of killing fulanis when there was riots in the state but he forgot that there has always been riots in the Nkorth that always resulted in the deaths of Southerners. This same buhari organized a coup & due to his inherent bigotry, he kept his brother who happens to be the president in house arrest but sent his deputy, Alex Ekwueme of blessed memory to prison (Alex Ekwueme was later proved to be clean and was even poorer than he was before becoming the vice president). This same buhari championed voting on religious lines during his campaigns, this same buhari threw Federal character into the Dustbin & for the very first time appointed his northern brothers to be in charge of all the important security positions. Yet, you are not seeing all these because you are not only hypocritical but also a bigot like buhari. Try to be objective and you will see that Buhari is exactly what he is being called.

But my problem with you people is that you are too proud to admit your shortcomings. Imagine saying Nigeria is dead without Ibos! With Ibos, is Nigeria not dead already?

The way you lie through your teeth should be a topic of scientific research shocked.

Why did your "huge" numbers in the North not stop Buhari from getting a landslide victory in the region in 2015?

Why did your 70% population of Lagos not give PDP victory in Lagos? Y'all just love to fool yourselves.

President Buhari clearly won the election without the Ibos in 2015 and that's an indisputable documented fact.

220,000 PVCs Still Lying Waste in Anmabra, Says REC

The Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji, yesterday said no fewer than 220,000 Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) are yet to be collected by the owners in the state.

Orji made the disclosure during a visit to Obi of Onitsha, Obi Alfred Achebe, lamenting that the level of voter apathy had dropped significantly following the modifications of the services being rendered by the commission.

He explained that the commission had succeeded in restoring the confidence of the electorate which was evident in the massive turnout of voters in the November 18 governorship election adjudged by many to be free, fair and credible.

He said the visit to the monarch was to solicit his support, especially in the area of sensitising his people on the need for the eligible voters to get registered and obtain their permanent voters cards.
According to Orji, the commission has, in addition to the registration centres across the 21 local government areas of the state, created floating centres in the councils to reduce the frustration often experienced by the electorate.

He further solicited the assistance of the traditional ruler in securing a land for an office accommodation in the district, assuring that the funds to raise the structure would not be a challenge.
Achebe while responding, commended the proactive disposition of the electoral umpire particularly in the area of continuous voter registration exercise.

He however, expressed worry over the wide gap existing between the eligible voters and those who have their names registered, as well as those who have collected their voters cards and those willing to exercise their franchise.

The monarch called on the eligible voters to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise to ensure they got registered, while urging those who were yet to collect their cards to do so.
He further urged the commission to improve the working condition of the staff to ensure they put in their best to their duty, just as he canvassed for the recruitment undergraduates and teachers to assist in sensitising the public on the need to participate in the electoral process.

On the request by the INEC boss to assist the commission secure a land for an office accommodation in the zone, Achebe said the area was faced with scarcity of land, but promised to liaise with the government to realise the dream.

It's a fraud. Recipe for rigging for Buhari. NW is never that populous.
The entire population of the NW is not more than 20 million while many of the so-called voters list is made up of underaged and foreigners from Niger, Chad, etc.
I don't understand the magic the PDP intends to perform without closely-monitoring the voters registeration and INEC's perfidy.

Olufemi Atoyebi, Eniola Akinkuotu and Adelani Adepegba, Abuja
The North- West geopolitical zone has the highest number of registered voters in the country with a total of 18,505 ,984 voters , according to statistics obtained by The PUNCH from the Independent National Electoral Commission .

The South - West zone , which comprises Ekiti , Lagos , Ondo, Ogun, Osun and Oyo states , comes second with a total number of 14, 626, 800 registered voters , while the South - East which has the lowest number of states has 8 ,293 ,093 registered voters .

According to the statistics Lagos now has 6, 048 ,156 registered voters , while Kano comes second with 5, 149 ,070 voters .

With a total of 754, 394 , Bayelsa has the lowest number of registered voters , which is lower than the Federal Capital Territory with a total of 952 , 815 .

So far, the total number of registered voters across the country is 73,944 ,312 .
The number of registered voters was as of January 2018.

However, INEC projects that the number of registered voters might reach 80 million before the December 2018 deadline for voter registration.

The total number of voters in the 2015 elections was 68, 833, 476 .

Over 5 ,110 ,836 persons have registered between April 2017 when the Continuous Voter Registration began and January 31, 2018.

The number of uncollected Permanent Voter Cards remains high as less than half of the registered voters have collected their PVCs.
Lagos , according to INEC , has over 1 .4 million uncollected voter cards.

*Buhari will seek re -election in 2019 –SGF

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, on Thursday affirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari would seek re- election in 2019.
He stated that there was no alternative to Buhari , adding that other presidential aspirants had nothing to offer.

The SGF spoke at the Unity Fountain in Abuja while addressing a rally organised by the Democratic Youth Congress , led by its National Chairman, Kassim Mohammed.
The group had urged Buhari to declare his intention to contest in the 2019 presidential election .

Mustapha said, “ We do not have an alternative to President Muhammadu Buhari for now. I will present your message to him . I congratulate you for your support for President Muhammadu Buhari to run in 2019.”

The SGF, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters , Gideon Sammani, said Buhari was widely known for his stance against corruption and indiscipline , noting that many people feared him because of his uncompromising position on graft .

Mustapha argued that it was the corrupt individuals that were against the President because they were apprehensive that they might be brought to book .

He added , “ We all know that Buhari is transparent , honest . He has come with the change philosophy. He has lived for this long to bring change to this nation . Since his military days, he stood to fight corruption and indiscipline.

“ Many people fear him because he does not compromise , and corrupt people are afraid that they will be brought to book . And those who have already looted the treasury of this nation are being probed by the security agencies . By the grace of God Buhari will not relent in this fight .

“ He will continue ; the politics of this nation is no more the politics of money or do - or - die. Anybody who wants to lead this nation must make sacrifices . Buhari has already transformed and changed the image of leadership and that of our leaders in this country , both locally and internationally , ” the SGF noted .
The convener of the rally stated that his team was ready to work for Buhari ’s re- election in 2019, adding that they were working with over 15 state governors to actualise the goal .

“ We are calling on Buhari to come out and make a public statement to run in 2019.
“ If this does not happen between now and Monday, we will be forced to go to court and invite him to come and make a public statement. Some of our leaders are misleading the youths in Nigeria that power should be given to the youths ; we are not in a hurry, ” Mohammed said.

*Akinjide tells INEC to delist underage voters

A former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory , Jumoke Akinjide , has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to remove the names of underage children who registered to vote in the northern part of the country .
Akinjide made the call on Thursday during the 2018 Peoples Democratic Party Youth summit , which was held in Ibadan , Oyo State.

The meeting , which had in attendance hundreds of youths from across the 351 wards of Oyo State , unanimously called on INEC to scrutinise the voter register and delete names of those who were not eligible to vote .

Akinjide , who commended the restiveness of Nigerian youths over the years, said, “ When youths are involved in politics , they are on the right track to progress. Youths should make a difference . I want youths to make a success of their participation in politics . And the INEC should provide a fertile ground for democracy to thrive. INEC should take all reasonable steps for democracy to work in Nigeria . It should not only promise what is right, it must convincingly be seen as doing so .

“ One of the surest ways to go about this is by disinfecting the system from its moral virus by disallowing underage voters or by stopping aliens from neighbouring countries from getting Permanent Voter Cards which , in most places , are not even accessible to eligible Nigerian voters . ”

Present at the summit were a former Majority leader, House of Representatives, Mulikat Akande - Adeola ; Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, a former Secretary to the Oyo State Government , Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli ; and the PDP National Youth leader , Udeh Okoye , among others.

That's not true...You dont know how rigging works. Registered voters are are not underage....but during elections, we all know that it is impossible for all registered voters at a particular polling unit to come for actual voting...so, the rigging machineries will bring underage voters to makeup the numbers of the absent registered voters!
Technically, zones with highest numbers of registered voters will most likely have highest number of votes

Spot on. I remember during the 2011 election violence, a part of the offense of the killed youth corpers was that they refused to release unused ballot papers to some locals who later mobilized and pounced on them for the loss of the election. Even the police were unable to protect the corpers who made it to their station.

Alas! The 2011 election violence had shed some light on what awaits any inec official that prevents the locals from having their way in the core northern states. It is therefore safe to say that elections in Nigeria is treated as a war and therefore a matter of life and death by some of the participants.

This also corroborates what the inec boss (Osaze-Uzzi) stated as the reason why underaged voters were being allowed unchecked. https://www.nairaland.com/4349507/why-underage-persons-registered-north

A very grim reality and a huge setback for Nigeria!
