If there were no injustice the pope would have excommunicated the diocese. But the pope saw the facts and decided to accept the okpalaeke's resignation. Point of correction, not all pope comes from Italy. The last pope is from germany, the current one is from south america.

u didn't read what I wrote, read clearly, I didn't write "all pope comes from Italy". are u saying since six years the pope is just seeing the facts. its so sad this is playing out.

so the grudge is against the Cardinal.
Yes and then same man was rejected by his own people

The main issue came at the ordination a bishop from same awka said we train and we share to them

That was when mbaise people rejected him completely

One thing about mbaise people is this we are never intimidated call us all the bad names we don't care.

If that bishop was from anywhere apart from awka we won't complain cardinal arinze should know mbaise can never be intimidated

The more reason why God will never appoint anyone of them as bishop because he saw their hearts. Even una like make una get 1000 priests none is worthy. Very rebellious people. Tueh!

you have to blame the priest in the diocese for allowing this to play out for long. if truly he was rejected by his people, Catholic faithfuls of mbaise should have pointed it out to the Vatican. even before the ordination or appointment. this has played out too long.

You can't get to vertican without cardinal arinze

He decides who goes and who stays he is the pope eye in Nigeria

So the only option left was the media and protest

Rebellious? The church has a rule to appoint priest

Our last bishop had names sent to Rome for possible replacement and disregarding those names is an insult to our bishop and our people and won't stand

And you think God appoint bishop?
Get up from your sleep

The town involved is hated by all and themselves for obvious reasons. Their ladies are overripe with no suitors willing to take the risk because of the devilish myth(?) surrounding the town.

Let me see how Mbaise people will become the bishop of that same Mbaise or any other place for that matter. cheesy

Calm down, bro. This resistance has nothing to do with some kind of "courage". You've not fought some kind of war. Basically, the hierarchy in Rome probably looked at this saga, shook their heads pitifully at the rascality of the people and let things be.

But this is an embarrassment for Igbos - the only tribe in Nigeria where you can see these disgraceful antics. Like how years ago, Imo and Abia were disgracing themselves nationally sacking each other's non-indigenous fellow Igbo men from their civil service. Enugu has done it to Anambra civil servants before too.

After, the same comedians would be singing "Igbo bu otu".
"Biafra" gba kwa oku.

The Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria (currently an Italian man) is the liason between the Nigerian Catholic Church and Rome. The Cardinals in Rome have absolutely nothing to do with the administration of the Church in Nigeria. Arinze probably hasn't set foot in Nigeria for several years.

This is how you delude yourselves with conspiracy theories.

It was as I predicted earlier on, the Bishop would most likely resign as he has done and the Pope would appoint an administrator. Ahiara diocese should forget about having a Bishop for the next ten years at least before Rome might choose to look their way cos non of the rascals would be made a Bishop.

Educate me and show me a single evidence of how Arinze is involved in selecting Bishops.

Or did you just assume:
1) Arinze is an Anambra man (who is not even from the Awka diocese in question grin)
2) Arinze is a cardinal.
Therefore, any Anambra man ordained as a Bishop is as a result of Arinze's meddling?

Is not a disgrace to Catholicism, its the ignorance of the people. The same problem that befalls this nation (tribalism) is what you see happened there at ahiara diocese.
How can Nigeria be one, when tribalism is even practised among the same people with different dialects? Shame on the Ahiara Christian Community. They may live to regret this, but God is merciful. So brother, rephrase your statement because when you Catholics, you are generalising it like it occurs everywhere. This same similar issues occurs when higher institution want to appoint VCs and Rectors, they tribalize it. So how can this stop?,

What exactly is this saying? Some church has become political altar. Any way what Nigerians are seeing today in the hands of this administration is what mbaise would see when that new bishop assumes. Mark my word today because it must surely happen. You can deceive people but definitely not God.

Mazi Vitalis, so you're from Mbaise, my belove homeland? At the topic, though I'm not a Catholic member but I think people that knows nothing about the issue should just keep quiet and stop shouting igbo this and igbo that. In the whole of Imo State, Mbaise has the highest number of Catholic priests and the most qualified ones for such post. So, how can someone from from believe that he can continue to suppress the will and wish of a whole people just to install his stooge on over qualified one to determine their "catholical" bearing?
