Josfactz:Don't get me wrong oh, yes Muslims are also targeted but the main genesis of this conflict has roots from previously condoned religious conflicts which several government administrations failed to prevent. It sad to see irresponsibility of the past snowballing into what we have now. |

Barely two weeks after the release of some lecturers prospecting for oil at the Chad Basin, the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC,has concluded arrangement to recommence exploration activities at the basin, Managing Director of NNPC,Maikanti Baru, has said. Oil exploration activities at the Chad Basin was suspended for months due to the abduction of the three lecturers from the University of Maiduguri which raised fresh security concerns. Baru, who led a team of the company’s top management staff to the Kaduna International Trade fair on Wednesday said the NNPC has discovered four locations in the BenueTrough which has renewed its hope on the prospect of an oil find in the basin and is ready to go back. “On the Lake Chad oil exploration,we have been working tirelessly and we thank the President for rescuing some of the lecturers that were involved in the exploration in the region. We are going back to the Chad Basin with full force,” He said. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/oil-search-nnpc-going-back-to-chad-basin-in-full-force--gmd.html?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C7767307892 until chad will negotiate with boko haram to kidnap this second batch of explorers |

http://nauticafrica.com/media/news/nigerian-navy-special-boat-service-patrol-boats-handover/#pop_nav POSTED 05 DECEMBER 2017 In the present maritime environment, and with the ratifying of various maritime conventions and regulations, training is essential to ensure that industry has personnel that is suitably and adequately trained to meet all the safety and regulatory requirements. Nautic Africa provides a variety of specialised maritime courses. This past month, Nautic Marine Service Manager Fabio Torrente & Service Training Officer Neil de Villiers undertook two days of product familiarisation training, as well as handover and acceptance testing of the four new 9.5m Guardian Fast Patrol Boats to the Nigerian Special Boat Service in a Navy Base on Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. The first four vessels delivered are ideally suited to military training of Special Forces, shore to shore operations, rescue and patrol operations, and are part of a consignment of a total of 14 boats to be supplied. The subsequent 10 vessels which are being delivered progressively, are all 8.5m Ballistically Protected Guardian Fast Patrol boats which are ideally suited to either ship to shore, or shore to shore fast patrol and security intervention duties, for both the Nigerian Navy, and the Navy’s Special Boat Services, thereby substantially increasing the capacity and the capability of the Nigerian’s security services in combatting the ever increasing acts of piracy and intimidation in the Gulf of Guinea, and in the Niger Delta. 18 Nigerian Navy SBS, Maintenance and Technical Personnel attended the very successful familiarisation training and vessel acceptance testing event. Nautic offer training and facilitation in the following fields: Diving, Crane Operations, Skipper Training, Welding, Vessel Handling, Vessel familiarisation, Remote Operated vehicles, safety Procedures and On-board Maintenance, and certified STCW Courses

Nigeria Navy should imbibe culture of proper storage of not-in-use patrol boats. One of the recently purchased French-built OCEA FPB 72 patrol boats, has been gathering dust in Lagos dock since God knows when. Everyday I pass through the area, not far from CBD Lagos, it always looks dustier than it was the week before. Maybe, this coming rain will do the washing for them. BTW, aren't they supposed to have some proper storage place such as we have hangars for aircraft ![]() |

nemesis4u:Lol, looks like someone needs to remind them that if you spend thousands of dollars of taxpayer's money to purchase a security apparatus, you should be able to to spare couple of dollars to properly store it. But, my utmost concern is why the boat is sitting duck doing nothing when criminal activities in the Gulf of Guinea hasn't diminish? Guess some things are beyond us. |

Xbee007:No particular insight into the details, but NN bought 4. Don't know how many have been delivered so far, but based on SA ops doctrine: 1 on ops; 1 used for training; 1 on maintenance; 1 on reserve. Again, don't know NN doctrine, but based on that logical cycle, there's always going to be at least 1 Ocea vessel on dry dock. |

jakeporeshenko:Right. Didn't know the final number. My argument though, stands. simply seeing 1/2 at the docks doesn't mean the NN isn't properly utilising them. and now that you tell me the fleet will be 11, there'll always be 4 on dry dock at all times. BTW, jake, why's nigeria not forcing the french to build these domestically? |
| Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Nobody: 12:49am On Mar 02, 2018 |
Frumentum:can we really "force" the French to do anything ? they have been f*cking us sideways since independence and the civil war. but on a serious note, i think Algerian once explained that these boats are aluminium weld and they have a special or rather delicate process of manufacturing. anddd most of these orders are follow-up orders (the boats are being purchased in pairs) NN couldn't demand that Ocea set up shop in Nigeria after purchasing 2-3 boats from the start. NN didn't know they'll eventually end up getting 11, call it lack of foresight or lack of financial confidence. when i think of it i guess thats why our military chiefs always get things in 2s and 3s and hardly strike large arms deals (including the jf17) they are being cautious. |
| Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Nobody: 1:05am On Mar 02, 2018 |
jakeporeshenko:Of course you can. French shipyards aren't exactly inundated with naval orders at the moment. 2 in France and the skills transfer to Nigeria would seem to me to be the most obvious thing, aluminium weld notwithstanding. |
| Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Nobody: 1:58am On Mar 02, 2018 |
Frumentum:wait do you mean set up a new shipyard or using an existing facility? |
| Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Nobody: 3:03am On Mar 02, 2018 |
jakeporeshenko:Either, or, depending on what you have. Get an offset deal whereby if Nigeria buys say 11 Ocea vessels, the company commits to building 9 of those vessels in Nigeria. That's a standard practise in the defence industry when you have an open bid process. That's how we ended up manufacturing the Agusta choppers for ourselves and others like Nigeria. If Nigeria can build 40m vessels, the skills are there to absorb the aluminium weld for the Ocea. The French or any other arms manufacturer (including Saffers) won't suggest it if they're not competing with anybody else, or the buyer doesn't insist. |

abiodunalasa:You've being posting several dumb post bro. Try not to post/comment about anything beyond your knowledge. You earlier claimed intelligence agencies don't know their work and now boko haram is about religion. Many of you have never being to the North East and you can't understand how difficult it is to protect some of this villages with less than 100 people. The next village might be over 10km away without motorable road. Most of them are farmers with bicycles and motorcycles and some settle in the middle of their farms. Everything about the north east is completely different from the south west or south South you know. |

CaptainStephen: like I advised him, research about intl terrorism, what you for example what we call boko haram is actually an assortment of ISWA, AQIM & FLM just to give you a clue, you may be at the fore front, however, you may not have an idea how big what you are dealing with. |

jpphilips:oga I understand you well, I am speaking about some of these ROOT causes traceable to the early fifties before AQIM, MAJAO and others came to light. These are after shocks and more will still come in my own opinion. Don't mix the growth of terrorism in Nigeria to the Sahel. Unlike the Sahel where clamour for independence turned insurgency by indigenes seeking for a state of AZAWAD, the Libyan and Sudanese connection giving birth to AQIM, Ours have steamed from roots involving religious intolerance, perpetually encouraged indoctrination allowed to continue due to ignorance and poverty. These were all cracks on the walls which finally lead to the collapse of what we sadly have now. I could go on and on but there is a limit to what I can say before I end up somewhere nasty. |

BHTs have always enjoyed tacit supports from its hundred of thousands of sympathizers in the North which is why any Imam that publicly criticize the group, for its atrocities, is automatically signing his death warrant. Even if BHTs don't necessarily have foot soldiers in that locale. Take Kano and Kaduna for instance, dozens of Imams have been assassinated by the group's sympathizers. We shouldn't forget the Kano 2014 bombing that saw well over 200 souls lost just because Sanusi Lamido spoke against BHTs. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/11/bomb-blasts-kill-200-kano-central-mosque/ I can recall the premature explosion that occurred in a built-up area in Kaduna several years ago. The bomb maker, his toddler, wife and some family members died when karma struck them in their home(that doubles as IED making factory. The bomb maker was just a civilian who suddenly decided that he would be making bombs for BHTs. He did succeed in killing hundred of people. There are homes you will see in the North with glaring anti-west graffitis written on their walls, typical of terrorist organizations. The North fostered and nurtured Boko Haram, especially the fundamentalist Muslim population in Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto and Borno. And the only reason they are screaming blue murder now is because BHTs focuses most of its attacks on Muslims population. Walahi, if it had been Christian and other minority groups bearing the brunt of this psychoes alone, they wouldn't have given enough hoot.
