Hope the binl in your name isn’t short for bin laden. How long was your wife stamped in for? You weren’t even allowed onto US soil. Most people are bounced at the CBP desk. Ask your wife what she was told at POE.

No, we’re christians. She was stamped in for 6months with no issues @ POE.

Hmmm Na wah o!
Your name must have been flagged by homeland security, for whatever reasons I can't fathom at the moment.
Was your wife asked if she was pregnant when she applied for the visa?
I think you are on the right track in trying to get answers.
At times these people make mistakes too. I've heard of someone who was sent back as a result of a mistaken Identity,so if you've checked yourself and can't truly find any reason for this, then I'll advise you follow it up to a logical conclusion. Best of luck

Family/ group visa (B1/B2) was issued via dropbox.
We notified both embassies (Abuja & Lagos) before she travelled in Oct 2017.

Good morning dear NLanders.

I just started reading up a few days ago and I've learned so much. Thanks to everyone out here for the valuable info

Have a few questions please. I have my interview in just about a weeks time, but I havnt yet seen an answer to some of my questions in previous posts. Please forgive me if it has already been answered but I'm scared I might not get to the answer before it's too late.

1. How much should be in my bank statements? Do I need exactly the amount in my budget sheet? Or a little more? My budget is about $10k (hope that's not too small), using 360 as the exchange rate, I have about 8k in my bank account and 5k in my mutual funds. Do you think this suffices? Do they actually consider the mutual funds statement? I was denied some years ago when applying for B2 and the guy just glanced at the mutual funds statement for 5 secs and put it aside.

2. I filled my uncle as my US contact and relative. However he is not a citizen, his papers are still being processed, but he told me he can legally stay in the US as long as it's still being processed. I hope this would not pose a problem at the embassy or at POE? Under his status I filled Legal resident

3. If this would pose a problem, can I fill another ds160 and change the one I have already filled without them knowing or having a record of the original form?

4. If I fill that I'm staying in an accommodation, would they ask me for proof of payment at POE? I don't want to be sent back if I don't have any o!

5. Also an accomidation would further increase my budget by about 2-3k$. Hope this won't be a problem as I would not have enough funds to cover the budget in my accounts

Sorry for the long questions but I'm getting really desperate!

Thanks in advance

Via Dropbox? Have u been to the US before for this to have been issued via Dropbox? If yes, then when did u renew the visa ? Was she pregnant at the time u both submitted for renewal? How long did u say u wouldd b away for in the form you both filled? How long did she eventually state she would be there for at the port of entry because 5months is quite a long time.

@kalelbinl My thoughts exactly. How long was she stamped in for? We are assuming 6 months or was it otherwise? & what duration did she state at the POE? Was she referred to secondary inspection at POE? Can she recall the conversation and can you post the transcript? The answer may be in the details.

I think your total budget should be between something like 12-16k USD, 10k is a bit on the low side, taking into consideration that the budget is all inclusive ( air ticket,Dr, hospital, shopping etc). Your budget shouldn't be exactly everything in your account, there should still be something left to fall back on when you come back. Your mutual fund account should be ok for presentation.
2) You should be fine since your uncle is a legal resident.
3) Yes you can fill another ds160 if the need arises
4) Yes, they can ask for your hotel reservation,so you should have evidence of your hotel reservation just incase you are asked. You can book hotel reservation on booking.com without paying anything, payment is when you show up at the hotel in person.
5) You should have enough money in your account to cover your budget and even have extra left

That also the rate banks also use for bta too.

Thank you sooo much!

From what you said it means I can keep my uncle on the form. No need to change my ds-160 or book accommodation.

I would just increase my budget and ensure i have some more funds.

Thanks once again

This is a 1st for me o.Most people here that had this issue of their passports not being stamped, were usually permitted to stay for 6months when they check it online. Don't know why yours was for just one month. Check online, there should be a place you can apply for extension.

Hi house, a quick question please. In the past, has travelling days before or days after the 4th of July (America's Independence) affected the mood of CBP officers at POE? It's a sincere question please and your responses will help me pick a favourable travel date. Thank you all in advance *smiles*
Meanwhile, any recent POE experience at Washington Dulles...please share. Gracias!

@Kalelbinl she raises a very valid point. Long stay visitors make them very uncomfortable. They might think you peeps are planning to relocate... Also I hope your wife hasn't said anything over the phone/internet about settling in the US. A lot of calls are bugged too.

Hopefully you can sort this out easily. Best of luck.

@Ugoguchy don't be afraid of Airbnb smiley

Just check location and reviews very carefully. So far I've had only good experiences with it.

Guys please let's avoid staying long per 1 time visit oh. My mum and kids came in recently. Chicago.

She spent 5 and a half months with my step sister last Year but we didn't think it was an issue. Apparently it was. They took her to Sec inspection and asked her a lot of questions about what she was doing for that period and if she worked etc... checked her return ticket for this trip before letting her go but they kept asking about length of stay.

Thank God my Mum was able to answer truthfully for herself... But just incase let's not make our Mum's stay too long and then put them tru stress later.

We learn everyday. Regards.

Since baby is not out yet, why not book the appointment now. People should book their appointment ahead of time just after EDD.

Sorry darling, I'm just seeing your reply now. Honestly, I've been hearing appointment here n there but never knew it works almost the same way with Visa interview appointment, thought it's something I can book n be scheduled for the next day. Mine is Lagos and I was able to book for 13th March, though baby is expected to arrive before weekend(by God's Grace). For those that might be interested, 6th n 8th are now oo. Afrobrown2000

I appreciate your prompt response Ozycy, remain Blessed.

That should be September 04 most likely, I'm assuming you only landed the US just this March. America date sequence differs from ours, don't forget.... So, just double check
