There is currently a clash on Federal University Oye Ekiti at the moment.

Below are the words from an eyewitness. From a whatsapp Voice note

"Very Early this morning there was a disagreement between a Bike Man and a HOD of a Department (Name Withheld). Which leads to the HOD been physically assaulted by the bike man and some Indegenes.

So some students need to take sides to support and rescue the HOD out of the ugly situation.

This Leads to a Fight between students and Indegenes. And later leads to the blockage of motorists on the Campus road

Later the Indengenes were seen with Dangerous weapons like. Local Hunting Guns, Machetes, and some Traditional Rings (Iroka).

The SUG Assitance President. Comr Ayodinho Was also assaulted in his pursuit for some Aluta Movements."

Two Students Were Said to be dead (Yet To be Confirmed as the time of writing this post)

The Riot is still ongoing

All students are enjoined to stay at home till t he issue is properly resolved"

A bike man and HOD?

I'm sure it was a minor incident but the students escalated it to the point of compulsory closure of the school.... sense will not kill me!

Stay at home? I would advise all students move to the school premises ASAP. The indigenes can strike at night. Clashes between students and indigenes leave behind victims, many who won't be alive to tell the tale. Ilaro still rings a bell. Dead men don't talk.

Ignorance

As a former student, I know students are always ready to escalate simple matters to the point of crisis.

In the end, it is the students that will suffer.

Too stupid to realise you cannot cheat or threaten your host community.

In about the year 2003, LASU students tried it with the Ojo/Iba community and the danfo transporters till the traditional ruler declared a 1month war with the students. Na student suffer pass in that crisis.

OSU students too thought themselves to be aluta demons and eventually embraced a confrontation with the Ago-Iwoye community who are more Ijebu demons than any student demons can be. Last last, it was the student pleading with the state government to help them relocate the school to another location, when they saw demon that pass their own aluta by the time the Ago community used 4 days to give the students the attention they had been craving.

It's sad how students said to be educated engage in brawls like this. Something that a simple dialogue would have settled has already claimed two lives.
