Yes, though not a first time mum. Nothing really challenging. You just have to be strong for yourself and of course, you can ring the nurse department if you need any help.

How long did she tell them she was spending at the poe. Oct 2017 to now is abt 5mths.

I’m not sure...my wife seems not to recall the conversation on the day. According to her it was smooth, she spent few seconds there.
I agree with you that Oct 2017 till now is a long time, this may have contributed partly...

Via Dropbox? Have u been to the US before for this to have been issued via Dropbox? If yes, then when did u renew the visa ? Was she pregnant at the time u both submitted for renewal? How long did u say u wouldd b away for in the form you both filled? How long did she eventually state she would be there for at the port of entry because 5months is quite a long time.
Yes her visa was renewed via dropbox. As I said, it was a family visa (dad, mum & 2# siblings) completed using her profile as she still bears her maiden name. Previous visas issued in 2012 when they attended my sister-inlaw’s wedding.
Yes she was already pregnant when she completed the dropbox process and as you know, there is no option to state that and were not ready to go the mediacal visa route. We eventually notified the embassies of our plans and got feedback. I think the duration stated in the ds160 was about 3weeks.
My visa was issued in 2016 and this was the first time I tried to travel to the US as I have been very busy with work which is relatively comfortable BTW. Intention was to atleast use the visa once before it expires, let it not be they issued a visa and I refused to use it.
What do you think?
Thanks for the responses so far.
I’m still waiting for response from DHS.

@kalelbinl My thoughts exactly. How long was she stamped in for? We are assuming 6 months or was it otherwise? & what duration did she state at the POE? Was she referred to secondary inspection at POE? Can she recall the conversation and can you post the transcript? The answer may be in the details.
Thanks for the feedback.
She was stamped in for 6months. She says it was very smooth @ the POE. She didn’t spend much time there and NO she wasn’t referred to secondary inspection. I was even worried because I kept tracking their flight, before I knew it, my sister-inlaw called that my wife was already downstairs with the taxi.
I’ll still find out more.
Thanks again.

@Kalelbinl she raises a very valid point. Long stay visitors make them very uncomfortable. They might think you peeps are planning to relocate... Also I hope your wife hasn't said anything over the phone/internet about settling in the US. A lot of calls are bugged too.

Hopefully you can sort this out easily. Best of luck.
I agree with you on the ‘long stay’ issue.
I’m still waiting for their response, having completed the complaint form.
I’ll keep the house updated as things unfold.
Thanks a lot guys!

Guys please let's avoid staying long per 1 time visit oh. My mum and kids came in recently. Chicago.

She spent 5 and a half months with my step sister last Year but we didn't think it was an issue. Apparently it was. They took her to Sec inspection and asked her a lot of questions about what she was doing for that period and if she worked etc... checked her return ticket for this trip before letting her go but they kept asking about length of stay.

Thank God my Mum was able to answer truthfully for herself... But just incase let's not make our Mum's stay too long and then put them tru stress later.

We learn everyday. Regards.

Yes o we learn everyday. I had the same thinking too but after my experience @ Heathrow, I now think the 6months is just a standard duration they grant visitors and doesn’t mean you’re welcome to stay for 5months & 2weeks with the thinking “as long as I don’t exceed the 6months, I should be OK”

Don’t bother with the medical visa. I renewed via Dropbox for both pregnancies and I was already pregnant. I declared at POE and carried enough burden of proof. Arm yourself with enough documents and cash and declare at the point of entry that you are here to have your baby. Also send the generic letter Incase the CBP officer asks if you informed the embassy. I hope you are aware that even with medical visa, we have read where they sent pregnant women back. I wish you all the best
Thank you for sharing your experiences. Much appreciated. Yeah merci for the best wishes..we run with it

To correct this.
The visa category is B1/B2 which is Business Tourism and Medical. So regardless of what your purpose is its the SAME visa category that they give B1/B2.

The real issue is your declared intention . You could have declared medical and put those details in your renewal for dropbox. It would then be the embassy's prerogative to call you for your interview or not.

Since you've read the thread you know that issues can arise at POE and subsequent renewals. Be prepared that's all.
Thank you for the clarification. My understanding was that since tourism was the basis for issuance of the B1/B2 visa renewing via drop box and now stating childbirth as the intention is a change in visa category which is not allowed for dropbox applications .Nevertheless I stand corrected .Yeah ' Be prepared'the age long motto of the boys scouts is our song and mantra.Nice one and many thanks!

Please house I need an advise on these.. My wife got an invite to come visit from an uncle of hers and on the invite letter the visit is scheduled for August this year.. She's barely a week pregnant.. My question is can she apply for visiting visa if gotten travel with it to give birth? The second question is now that we have confirmed the pregnancy should we go ahead with the visiting visa or go for medical visa since we are looking out for her to give birth there. Please we need to be guided properly not to make mistakes so we can act fast.... Not forgetting is her first pregnancy... Thank you..

Good morning all. I want to sincerely appreciate you guys for your good works here more grace. Kudos
Please I will like the house to help me out!!
I went for a missionary journey in 2015, and during my visa interview I stated that I was going to give birth and visa was approved.
In August 2017 I wanted to apply a visa for my daughter for vacation the visa was denied.
VO: where is she going
Me: texas
VO with who and what is she going there for
Me she will be going with me, for vacation.
VO: you have a visa?
Me: yes (handed over the passport as she stretched her hand for it)
VO: your passport will soon expire (by Sept 2017)
Me: yes thought it has to expire before I could proceed for renewal
VO: no she gave back the passport and asked me to
renewal. She gave us green paper. And return the passport.
I submitted my passport via drop box for renewal and I was asked to appear for interview and my expired visa was stamped cancelled witout any prejudice.
My interview:
Me: good morning with a smile
VO: morning, your passport
Me: gave him
VO: why are you going to Florida
Me: for vacation type type
VO: have travelled before
Me: yes
VO : purpose and where
Me: texas to give birth
VO : what's is the name of hospital
Me: WHMC houston Txs
VO: your receipts of payments
Me: gave him my doctor receipt and hospital with my Zero balances
VO: itemised receipts
Me: these were the only receipt and letter given
Vo: initial doctor bill
Me: I did not come with it, however, I showed them in my last interview
VO: baby birth certificate
Me: I didn't come with it but I showed him her usa passport book
VO: faced the computer typed! What do you do?
Me: civil servant
VO: where
ME: I mentioned the name of my org. Here in Abj
VO: what do you do ther'e
ME: I told him my work schedules
VO: what is your husband doing
Me: business man
VO: what type of business
Me: mentioned
VO: typed looked back and checked something on the wall
Sorry you are not eligible. blabla and return my passport
Waoh!!!? I was like what happened?
I later realised that was mistake in the form my agent submitted for me.
It was asked in the form if I have travelled to usa before he said NO!!!!!!
I know the house will be blaming me of usin an agent.!!
He was the one that helped me for the first visa and it was given!! I did my daughters own she Was denied I was like if I have allowed him to help me do it may be he would have been able to advise professionally so I decided to use him for the renewal Hmmm!
Please what can I do?
Would these not affect my first next attempt?
Like how many months should I give before applying again?
I also want to apply with my husband and daughter since my LO doesn't need visa for vacation. Pls I need a candid advise thank you

Critical question: Is the budget sheet supposed to be from the doctor or hospital? I have even seen some examples here where people write it by hand. Isn’t it just to show a total based on the different costs of medical and non medical expenses? The applicant even added another $15k for emergencies and showed account statements that more than covered that.

VO: Is there any other person travelling with you?
Mum: Yes, another child of mine with his wife though i will be leaving with my daughter(My bro's wife will also be delivering same period)

Despite all we packed for her, no single document was checked. In all, she was out around 10:50am. We bless God for all and thanks to this great family. I had to read various transcripts to prepare my mind and hers too. God bless you all.

Your personal budget (expense) sheet does not have to be from a doctor or hospital but you should have some kind of documentation from your doctor or hospital that specifies the cost of the treatment otherwise there is no proof that the numbers on your budget sheet are correct. Ideally, provide an additional letter from any personnel at the hospital or clinic where you will be seen that includes prices and a contact phone where the officer can call in case he/she should have any questions or want to confirm the prices and/or your appointment.
