efesodje:Wow! I now understand better. But still, does that mean the war can't be won cos of the massive nature the base has? Are they moving from one space to another through holes or something? Can't they be choked up or something? Just thinking.... |

Boyooosa: Try reading about the Vietnam war. About how the most sophisticated military in the world-the US was defeated by a ragtag collection of guerrilla Vietnam fighters. You can't beat me in my house If you don't know the plan and layout of my house. A similar situation is playing out at Sambisa. The terrain is new to our soldiers but known to the boko haram fighters. The huge landscape also plays a major obstacle too 2 Likes |

efesodje:I understand how difficult it is to curtail them in regards to the porous nature of our boundaries both locally and internationally, vis-à-vis their main base and various escape routes. But something I think of is; the NA needs to decide their strategy. Do they want to use numbers or logic. They need to determine this and go all out. Pushing and drawing will cause more disaster. NA needs to decide! |

Boyooosa: I believe the Boko Haram strategists are employing a form of Guerrilla warfare called Hit-and-run in addition with Attrition warfare. Basically they involve this: Hit-and-run tactics is a tactical doctrine where the purpose of the combat involved is not to seize control of territory, but to inflict damage on a target and immediately exit the area to avoid the enemy's defense and/or retaliation. Such raids can also expose enemy defensive weaknesses and achieve a psychological effect on the enemy's morale Attrition warfare is a military strategy consisting of belligerent attempts to win a war by wearing down the enemy to the point of collapse through continuous losses in personnel and material. Now how to deal with such a guerrilla force: When dealing with insurgents on a tactical level, the 3 F's must be followed. Find them. Fix them. Finish them. Find them. By whatever means necessary. Use all intelligence resources to find them. Invite them to attack you. Finding them is key. Fix them. Restrict their mobility through use of cordons, blocking forces, artillery fires, etc. The insurgents must not be allowed to escape. Finish them. The easy part. Self explanatory. Soften with artillery fires and close air support. Use ground troops in at least a 3 on 1 ratio to mop up the rest. Now for step 3: Finish Them to be successful you need to clear the area of civilian populace and like I explained earlier, due to the large geographic expanse of the sambisa zone you have a lot of civilian population living in various areas. This poses a problem because for the Finish Them step to be complete you need to completely wipe that region with bombs and every heavy military artillery possible. Here lies the problem |

efesodje:You sound tech here, I don't know ur background anyway. But ur 3Fs coincides with my thinking and I want to believe that the NA intelligence team knows better. Now, doing some breakdown on ur 1st F. Do u think that the NA has even.gotten the adequate information on the insurgents; who they are, their cause, their desperation & motivation, then, their backups. Underline the word 'adequate'. And don't assume. Your number two to me, is going all out to fix them, with whatever strategy(s). Ranging from declaring full against the insurgents, sacrificing both personnel n civilians, applying any means possible like locals (this should be done vastly), choke them up with the aid of neighborhoods n neighbouring countries to fighting with mass if possible. Then, on the final note, ur 3rd F, relies on the success of the previous two Fs. It is the war that is visible to u, u can fight much more of winning. Odi clearance was possible because of the mushroom nature it had but in this case, the target"s base is porous and as well scanty. By implication, it requires more sacrifice comparatively. The decision now lies in btw more sacrifice and result or less sacrifice and cancerous breakdown. |

Strike forces are hard bastards no nonsense taking dudes, swift hard and devastating blows on the enemy, deploying them entails a lot of high tech resources, they are like the us marines, and green berets, for a commander to die like this is a serious loss, I think the minister of defence is not paying attention to the challenges faced by or troops, they are getting killed by the day, I would insist on a coordinated attack and cordon of the north east, (activate black-out and lock-down) immediately Intel is received that shekau is within our borders, call up our reserves and see the result other than kill our finest warriors |

Boyooosa:sambisa is very large and there are areas so difficult to reach that it near impossible to navigate, what I suggest is a cordon wall separating niger and Chad like the Us did to Mexico, then the massacre of BH will begin |

efesodje:in addiction to your strategies another way they could be completely subjugated is by starvation, the army should identify and cut off all their supply rout, once they don't have access to ammunitions, medical supply, fuel supply and most especially food supply the will lost the zeal to continue "can a hungry man fight"? taking advantage of this situation an all out attack should be lunched against them through air and land, once this is done they will be completely obliterated. |

okerekeikpo: boko haram will not succeed without Nigerian military and government connections - they have access to agents, spies and members entrenched inside Nigerian government and military. I bet they receive text messages and info from DHQ, soldiers and politicians. One theory is that Buhari and some Northerners started it as backup in case they did not win elections, afterwards the organization went rogue and they have problems controlling the many factions that emerged from it - it is the same with Fulani herdsmen, an invasion of Southern and middle belt lands that can no longer be controlled by the same people who started it. |

Don't you think it will be suicidal putting civilians to work in such porous place and esposing them to the risk of those unrepentant suicide bombers...just thinking anyway. |

Boyooosa: Have you ever heard of Chris kyle, , have you heard of combat engineers or defence contractors? military engineering is that engineer activity undertaken, regardless of component or service, to shape the physical operating environment. Military engineering incorporates support to maneuver and to the force as a whole, including military engineering functions such as engineer support to force protection, counter-improvised explosive devices, environmental protection, engineer intelligence and military search. The word engineer was initially used in the context of warfare, dating back to 1325 when engine’er (literally, one who operates an engine) referred to "a constructor of military engines".In this context, "engine" referred to a military machine, i. e., a mechanical contraption used in war (for example, a catapult). As the design of civilian structures such as bridges and buildings developed as a technical discipline, the term civil engineering entered the lexicon as a way to distinguish between those specializing in the construction of such non-military projects and those involved in the older discipline. As the prevalence of civil engineering outstripped engineering in a military context and the number of disciplines expanded, the original military meaning of the word “engineering” is now largely obsolete. In its place, the term "military engineering" has come to be used. They are also known as sappers or pioneers and recently they constructed a road leading into Sambisa Forest, I mean Gwoza-Yamtake-Bita-Tokumbere-Sambisa and Gwoza-Yamtake-Bita roads being built in combat zones, as for your question defence contractors are known to carry out tasks in combat zones too, they are experts in this so leave the rest to them what we need is a leader that's willing, which we don't have, and a lot of concrete cement and steel, which we have in abundance in nigeria. 1 Like |
