Even poor countries in the world do not have to suffer this much. Not that there is light in the city and darkness in the villages; not that power goes out for few hours in a day only. Why really can't we just have electrical power in that country for decades now?

We can actually have it. Just that some people benefit more from Nigeria being in darkness.

Bad leadership.
Bizarre refusal to exploit coal for electricity, maybe because the largest deposits are in Enugu (read Igbo Land).

China connects 2 billion people with electricity. They use coal. Why cant Nigeria connect just 180 million people using coal plus gas?

Because China decentralized its electricity grid, each region generates and and distributes its own power

Until we restructure, we are going nowhere

When you say even poor countries what do you mean ?

Are you aware that Nigeria today has more extremely poor people than any other place in earth and does that not technically make Nigeria the poorest country on earth because a country is only as rich as it's people...

You have said it all, we have to decentralize, restructure and massively roll out prepaid meters that will not be bypassed.

The blame for the lack of coal power, and absence of commercial cattle ranching is shared between the Federal Government and state governments.

Even people like you who have kept quiet about it own a slice of the blame.

Can Enugu State Government please help us out here, since FG is not doing its work in this particular case?

The constitution of the Fulani Republic of Nigeria does not allow that
Even when you generate you must put it to national grid to give the North first before the remainder is rationed to you

Close your mouth

Coal power is cheap but environmentally unfriendly.

I would advice we go for Biogas power systems and decentralize electricity sector

Stop spreading most misinformation. Coal power is cheap. Most US electricity comes from coal. Most of China's electricity comes from coal.

But if you guys say because it is largely in Enugu ( Igbo Land) it will not be used for electricity and we will remain in darkness competing for scarce gas, no problem. Let's stay like that na. Shebi na all of us dey suffer am?!

All we need to do is:

-Decentralize the government. Give resources control to the states. Give infrastructural power (roads, edifices, power grinds) to LGAs.

-Privatize, companies like PHCN and NNPC should be broken up into private companies/businesses that solely for providing goods like gas and electricity.

-Deregulation, have the market determine prices for things such as gas (if we did that during the Fuel Subsidy problems we would've been paying N90-100 and opposed to the N200

It could all be so simple. But no, we have to be stupid.

Someone explain to me why is it that in order to fix a road: LGA chairman has to open yansh for governor, then the governor has to open yansh for FG, then maybe if the president likes you...he'll send some money for the road that the governor will then chop. Only for the road to be subpar and in need fixing again in a couple months time.

If we restructure the LGA can simply have the contractors fix road without any Governor or FG interference but no...let's keep doing Afonja vs Igbos.

I have come to realize that we have so much hate for each other its blindind us from progress. That and our egos. As long as another tribe we dont like is suffering we will be fine with suffering. We dont care if the president is thief as long as he is our "brother". Some people will vote for buhari because "is it your business for who i want to vote" or "I'll vote buhari again and you will keep crying". Only for us to complain about government incompetence after the damage is done. Every election I see bright candidates with FRESH IDEAS but we want to vote them in because "we don't know them". Mtschewww I no fit laugh.

I mean it's clear as day that we need to restructure this country. Why a multi ethic state like Nigeria is be ran like a central state (where politicians off different ethnic will fight to the death and sacrifice their own people to attain that central power) I dont know. My brother the reason why we dont have electricity is the same reason why we have bad road, no healthcare, dirty water, Fulani killing, lack of education, violence, etc. The foundation of the country is rotten. Restructuring is needed whether we like it or not.

Because of the powers behind the importation of generators

Thesame reason we keep refining crude oil outside Nigeria

You are correct sir. People who are saying good leaders alone will solve the problems are only partially right. Good leaders under a defective structure like Nigeria will not achieve anything. It is like planting a good seed in a bad soil.
