I ventured into farming last year after several discouraging words from friends for 2 years. I decided to tell nobody before my first. I started with tomatoes, maize and later vegetables ( ewedu and efo). The first 3 plots was a disaster, I struggle to pay for clearing and did the rest myself. I spent 2 months working on the farm, with slightly over 30minutes to and another 30 minutes from the farm everyday. I left the village without informing anyone because of shame of failure. I made NOTHING from my efforts and had to help someone with weeding to get money to leave.

Expect nothing fabulous from this field. At best you will recoup your expenditure but not some commensurate profits to the labour, time, logistics and invested fund (if it were a borrowed fund).

1. Your row and within row spacings are too wide.

2. Your plant population is low. Therefore, you will contend greatly with weed management.

Nonetheless, I wish you all the best.

I am writing about my experience not because I feel I have arrived, but just to tell anyone wanting to do farming that no matter how many seminars you attend, your mistakes are going to be your ultimate teacher. I moved to another village and within 2 weeks, I was planting another plot of maize (early may) since then I have settled with maize and vegetable, leaving the more complicated tomatoes out of my farm. (I also have cassava for family consumption)

Today I have what it takes to cultivate one or two acres, but I want to conclude my study on Small Well Taken Care Of Farm when produce is scarce against Large Farm When Everyone Is Planting. in case you are wondering, there is a small pond near that has helped with watering, I used the same for vegetables between October and February.

I appreciate your contribution sir, though this is my 3rd maize efforts after the 1st failed one, the last 2 had been good. But this one is about the timing, not hoping to make a million from it. My rows are 4 feet apart and in row is 3

This portion has been thoroughly used even before I planted vegetables in October. so I mixed the soil with dry chicken and pig waste. In 3 days, they will be 4 weeks after which I will apply urea. But they are already looking beautifully green.

Because crops and plants depend so much on water, Super Gro is meant to improve the quality and quantity of water as required by these crops and plants for wonderful growth and production by adding the essential nutrients they require for that purpose. No wonder, Super Gro helps you make the most use of water: water, one of the basic fundamentals of life itself. Water, good quality water, is an issue of such importance that governments, states, provinces and major suburban areas around the world have created agencies to ensure its long-term

Surfactants are wetting agents that are used in several ways:
As emulsifiers to disperse oils.

As dispersing agents, to reduce adhesion between particles of chemicals, so
they will spread and remain in solution longer.
Features of Super Gro

Easy to use.
Long shelf life.

Because Super Gro makes water to be wetter, it helps to retain the water under the soil much longer which ensures that the soil continues to be wet even in dry warm weather, which also makes the crops/plants maintain their evergreen outlook and growth during dry season (drought).
Biodegradable - leaves no harmful residue on the products of the crops and plants.
Super Gro being natural does not have chemicals that could leave any harmful residue on the soil, unlike other types of fertilizers…
It does not adversely alter soil pH.
Reduces watering time, by reducing run-off and evaporation.
It increases plant and crop yields - increased maximum production is assured.
It is highly concentrated and, therefore, very economical - a little quantity goes a very long way.
It is user-friendly, environment-friendly and nature-friendly.
It acts as a sticker on plants because it has internal ability to absorb solar energy and gum it to the plant for efficient and maximum production.
The crops and plants will have greener and healthier outlook at all times and at any
weather.
It enables farmers save a lot of time - a minimum portion of land produces maximum output (maximum yield).
It enables farmers save a lot of money - a minimum input produces maximum output (maximum yield).

During my short time as a farmer, I have experimented with both the local way of multiple seeds per hold and the modern one seed per hole, and like you rightly said, one seed per hole is always best when your farm is rainfed from planting to harvest. In this case I didn't wait for the rain and had to do the local multiple seeds per hole to ease watering. That is the reason I made my rows 4 feet's apart, its also why, even though they look green and healthy, I still want to apply some urea.
'If you must crowd your plants, feed them' is a phrase I learned a long time ago.

Thank you for your observation sirs

I av a simple suggestion for you to increase ur yield now that tge maize are beginning to tarsel.
Approach any abbatior around u, go along with d 20litre paint bucket and collect the stomach slug mind you not poop o.
Apply inbetween the plants in measure of milk cups and cover up.
What it will do for you in to increase number of heads per stick and bigger seedling.
You may wish to line out a section of the field and compare at harvest.
Wishing you more successes. Agric pays, nxt time hire some machines to reduce cost and energy input on farm.

Re: My Two Plots Of Maize Farm (planted 16/02!2018) by NextDayPP: 6:56pm On May 25, 2018
My question when I started this thread was, how much can one make from 2 plots of maize farm. I made 57,600.. I also said I would harvest between 1st and 3rd of May. My harvest was done 2nd and 4th. About 80% on the 2nd, while the remaining 20% was 2 days later. I want to also point out that my 2 plots was about 4 rows by 120f less. I also gave out to a lot of ppl because it was very close to the village. One thing that reduced my income heavily was the attack of birds. I was told by the locals that it was that bad because I was the only one with matured maize around, more so that the area is close to a river and and swamp. I believed the locals submission because it makes sense.

Like I said, my first harvest was 2nd May. In the early hours of 3rd May, there was rain, so when it was daybreak, I went back to the farm and planted another set of maize, including the remaining 20% area that were to be harvested on the 4th. As I write this, the new plants of maize are 3 weeks old. Pics later.

Again it's about timing, the first came 3 weeks ago when the price from farm was good and the new ones will be ready mid July when price of maize would be on the rise again. Price of maize usually comes down to the bottom between mid May through June. It begins to rise again in July.

By the way, I sold at 7 for #200, the smaller ones was 8.
