Hi MsNgo/40, what part of the States are you located? I'm in Chi town too but TX is home for me.

Oh...I won't give specifics... although a few guys on this website know the state. I'm in the southern or southeastern portion of the U.S. though...a ways away from Chi-town...but closer to u.
It's like a 12-14 hour drive from Chi-town to where I live.
Every time I visit there though (so far and thank God), and depending on which airport I'm flying from, I take a direct flight (no stops) and it takes no more than 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours...
Who doesn't love Texas? I wouldn't mind living there...heard it's nice. ...

Unnecessary PM is understatement bro..... I don't really have problem with people making enquires but I can't just cope with people with diff format all in the name of getting something from you.

Bros you started this thread by mentioning how you were able to secure a job with your Nigerian degree here in u.s and after that you avoided that topic completely. I have already written my board exams and I believe the information you give will be valuable for people here cos nobody would go for a student loan if they know they can use their Nigerian degree here .Goldenboy Opened a thread on how people here can manage their finances and invest back home what is the purpose of the threadExcept maybe the aim of is to serenade the people back home with pictures of u.s cos we know that with spirit (cheapest)airline you can get to Chicago in less than 2 hours

I have a very good friend here who is making about $65k working in Real Estate company with Naija certificate. His first contract was $25k I think.
I have replied to several emaisl and phone calls since I started this thread but people are taking it for granted.

There are several things you can do here with Naija certificate e.g Insurance, Real Estate, Salesforce and AWS will cost about $500 - $600 to learn.

Lastly, you don't necessarily need student loan to get your master degree here if your are hard working.

It's what it's and we have to do what is necessary to survive by wearing thermal underwear, winter jacket and boot.
The good thing about advance country like U.S is that heat/heater is everywhere from your your apartment to your car, bus, train, stores and every indoor places you go.

The only problem is when you are shoveling your driveway and car out of snow.

It's not easy to drive in heavy snow as well.

But guess what.......we all get used to it.

It's not easy get credit card for new immigrant because we have no history in U.S but as soon as you are here, how to build credit card should be on your top list because it will help in a very long way.

Waiting for wifey to be through with her masters 1st. It will be difficult if not impossible for both of us to be studing at the same time. Masters class is from 7pm- 10pm, twice of 3times in a week.

Also daycare closes at 5:30pm and we have a baby.

People make good money with Nursing Assistance nowadays. You will definitely make more money with web developer/programmer. It's a about your passion.

Don't mind chase and capital one, their shakara too much. They denied my application too. But I have Disco, Amex and Capital one with 0 annual fee. Capital one sent approval letter later after 4months.

Credit one is good for credit builder too with $75 annual fee(mine is $25)

Pls negotiate your $75 annual fee with Credit One. Just shakara them you want to close your account, when they ask you why, tell them you can't afford $75 annual fee. Thank me later
