AutoJoshNIG: Ambode is the joker of the century. The Lagos light Rail System - how far has it gone? Instead of distracting people with this Oworonsoki scheme, and dissipating money on many needless projects, let him complete the light rail first so that it will ease up traffic in Lagos!! 2 Likes |

maasoap: If you say "for lagos state,it is" wrt my post, then you mean that land reclamation is actually the least of the problem.. But I think you are trying to say the opposite. Well you may say the state needs more land hence you support the reclamation. But do you know that people somewhere in this same world you and I live in, work in Sweden and live in Denmark and vice versa, to name a few? All they need to do is either board a train or drive and cross. My point is, instead of reclaiming lands which will pose a hazard due to our poor maintenance culture, why not make good roads, train system available so peeps can come from other state and work in lagos and still go back without hitch. Those countries doing land reclamation have exploited all possible safer options before going ahead. But we? No!! We just want to be like them. Like I said, I am not against the reclamation, but we need to do the basics first. What do I know anyways? 2 Likes |

udi4eva:. They are building roads, they are building bridges, they are building waterways infrastructures like the one we are talking about in this thread and they are building a metro rail system, so, exactly what are you crying over? What are you complaining about that they are not actually doing today? Do you need proof because I have a lot to show you.? And do you have your own studies that say this project is going to be underwater? Do you? Did they not dredge Eko Atlantic and did we not listen to the same doom and gloom prophesies like you are spewing here? Is Eko Atlantic flooding or is it under water? All you have is hysterics with zero facts. 1 Like |

By the way, Lagos is naturally below the sea level. So we need mega canals to drain our mega drainages in our mega city. https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/guardian.ng/features/science/confronting-climate-change-doom-in-lagos/amp AutoReportNG: 2 Likes 1 Share |

shervydman: You are right, most times while passing through that place in a public bus, u say laymen who can't even define dredging arguing. Saying the place will sink, disaster will happen, etc...and I kept wondering? Do people say sth cos they know it or cos they feel it will happen. Dredging is an age long practice and has no side effect. Many islands in the world today are artificial, and nothing has happened. |

shervydman: I have watched the documentary on how the palms island in UAE was built/constructed and what they paid attention to or took into considerations. My question is do we as a nation have that sincerity of purpose? The dredging of Eko Atlantic city occasioned some serious disaster part of the island that is still being litigated upon till tomorrow. Drive to Ikate after the Elegushi Water front and see the disaster that the Eko Atlantic city project occasioned. This is a fantastic project if you ask me, but do you know how many persons on the other side of the bridge 'maroko' or so lost their houses to flooding during last year raining season cos this was ill planned? Or are those not Nigerians, were they ever compensated? Was there a proper environmental impact assessment? Has the palms Island sitting in the middle of the sea ever being flooded? Lekki and the entire island was flooded last year due to poor environmental impact assessment. Do we have a 5, 10, 15, 30 year plan/ study on how such projects impact on the environment? 3 Likes |

Keep building without building the people... Development should be people oriented.. Lagos needs mass housing.. Here you are talking about land filling.. APC and their propaganda.. uote author=AutoJoshNIG post=65837938]Have you traveled by the Oworonshoki end of the Third Mainland Bridge lately? Ever wondered about what is going on at the Oworoshoki waterfront? Indeed, anyone that has passed through that part of Lagos would have noticed an enormous “sand filling” – or land reclamation work – going on there. Once-upon-a-time, not-too-long-ago, that spot used to be a beehive of illegal dredging activities in Lagos. So, after sand-filling the waterfront, whats next? Well, here is whats next. The Lagos State Government is working to transform the Oworonshoki Waterfront into one of the biggest transportation, tourism and entertainment hubs in Nigeria. Yes. An elegant Mega Ferry and Bus terminus is about to be built at that once blighted location. And that’s not all. The Mega Jetty and Bus terminal will have other entertainment and Tourism facilities like multiple Boutique, hotels, museums/art galleries, sport and recreational facilities as well as a 1000 capacity car park, based on the design master plan of the area. Upon completion, Lagosians would be able to embark on travel from Oworonshoki either via water, using the Jetty Terminal or via Ultra-Modern Buses departing from the New Bus Terminal. This project is part of a grand design by the Lagos state government to reduce human and vehicular traffic gridlocks on the roads connecting the Island, Apapa and other parts of the Mainland. Clearly, Ambode is not joking! #AmbodeIsNotJoking Source: https://autojosh.com/ambode-is-not-joking-at-oworonshoki/ [/quote] 1 Like |

And many people would do the same if they had the chance. Good efficient transport systems will decongest the city and reduce pollution. 1 Like |

I love how some of these critics think they're engineers or scientists. Please, if you don't have scientific data and studies proving this will cause it to be underwater (as you failed to prove with Eko Atlantic), then just keep your ignorant opinions to yourselves. The time of ignorant baseless statements being accepted as facts has long since passed. Back up your claims with solid studies and scientific evidence, or keep your negative statements to yourselves, because they are nothing more than useless comments that have no basis in fact. And should be treated as such. 2 Likes |

0monnak0da: Amsterdam is below sea level and they have a network of Dykes, barriers and DAMs yet Amsterdam still gets its fair share of flooding. Recently the UK got seriously flooded even with its vast network of canals. Check out Venice's predicament here. http://www.ancient-origins.net/ancient-places-europe/construction-venice-floating-city-001750 Engineering is marvelous but it has its limitations and fails 99.9% of the time whenever it clashes with nature.
