Only if we could have little Lagos element in positions of decision making in the federal level, Nigeria will be better off

I know this is the truth but my question is..

Will a country like Nigeria able to manage the engineering properly ? We’ll see to this in the future..

We heard the same endless argument and the same doom and gloom prophecies about Eko Atlantic and how it won't survive ordinary rainfall, but Eko Atlantic is still standing majestically without a puddle of water after rainfalls that that crippled many parts of Lagos.

Sometimes I thank God that many of our so-called leaders of tomorrow are not in charge of anything in Nigeria, it seems these old public officials have better ideas, can do spirit and the mental fortitude to move forward, do great things, to develop than our so-called backward thinking, negativity obsessed and incapacitated youths who can not take any risk or face challenges for their own good.

The developed countries faced many adversities before arriving at the term developed counties, they faced, they survived and learn from many challenges, but not our own youths, its the other way around with them, they want a clean and fairytale world where everything is laid out for them, smooth and easy.

Nothing in life comes easy, but you can not learn and develop without taking the first step and learning from your errors or by getting bogged down with negativity and can't do or don't do attitude that many of our youths shamefully display all over the place.

Nigerian youths are not ready for anything.

Its easy for you to point out what other countries are doing well when you are only here in lagos.
You said Amstadam. Do you know the kind of scheduled maintenance they run on their dykes?
You said palm island/world islands in Dubia. Do you know that up to date, they still have to replenish their beaches with sand due to the massive removal rate of beach sand caused by blocking of the natural flow of water by these artificial islands.
The problem with nigeria is that we haven't walked, yet we wana run.
I am not against the project buy the person you are trying to prove a point to understands better than you.
Even if they have plans for dredging and creating water ways to prevent flood, what is the probability that someone like you, or your friends will not dump refuse to block it.
Take a look at your street and see the gutters, see the dirts littered everywhere, and ask your self. Can human beings living in these places and a government that cannot provide basic amenities run a maintenance schedule that will stand its ground against a force of nature in a never ending battle?
Has is occurred to you that lagos is the only "mega city" in the world that has only one means of transportation? The roads ate not even close to good enough.
Its a good project, but im sorry we not yet matured in mind for all these. We should be making good roads to link outside the state so that people can live outside lagos and work in lagos. This will help in depopulating the state.

My question is when will you guys "mature in mind for all these"? The successive Lagos administrations is telling you that they are ready, yet you are saying that you are not mature yet.

Have you traveled by the Oworonshoki end of the Third Mainland Bridge lately?

Ever wondered about what is going on at the Oworoshoki waterfront?

Indeed, anyone that has passed through that part of Lagos would have noticed an enormous “sand filling” – or land reclamation work – going on there.

Once-upon-a-time, not-too-long-ago, that spot used to be a beehive of illegal dredging activities in Lagos.

So, after sand-filling the waterfront, whats next?

Well, here is whats next.

The Lagos State Government is working to transform the Oworonshoki Waterfront into one of the biggest transportation, tourism and entertainment hubs in Nigeria.

Yes. An elegant Mega Ferry and Bus terminus is about to be built at that once blighted location.

And that’s not all.

The Mega Jetty and Bus terminal will have other entertainment and Tourism facilities like multiple Boutique, hotels, museums/art galleries, sport and recreational facilities as well as a 1000 capacity car park, based on the design master plan of the area.

Upon completion, Lagosians would be able to embark on travel from Oworonshoki either via water, using the Jetty Terminal or via Ultra-Modern Buses departing from the New Bus Terminal.

This project is part of a grand design by the Lagos state government to reduce human and vehicular traffic gridlocks on the roads connecting the Island, Apapa and other parts of the Mainland.

Clearly, Ambode is not joking!

#AmbodeIsNotJoking

Source:

https://autojosh.com/ambode-is-not-joking-at-oworonshoki/

I see this almost everyday, but I must say that this is dangerous. It's just a matter of time, the Atlantic ocean would claim its space from Eko Atlantic and the lagoon would take back what belongs to her from this sandfilling.

You are a little bit behind.

The Mile 2 jetty was concessioned with the same cinema hall, entertainment, shopping mall, and many other life supporting facilities theme like what they are doing in Oworonshoki.

the concession agreement is build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) bases.

http://businessandmaritimewestafrica.com/maritime-development/lasg-concessions-mile-2-jetty-to-private-operator

Mile 2 and the surrounding areas are actually benefiting more than a lot of communities in Lagos state, they have the Lagos Metro and a 10 lane freeway with BRT and a world-class jetty to follow.

Stay up to date.

Staying update does not end on just what is written for me and you for reading sake and possible applause. Action speak louder. There are so many projects going on at the same time that may not or never be completed by this present administration. All this we know is just to consolidate their grip on the state as the ruling party for fear of possible take over by their rival party. The Badagry express project is moving on a snail speed. The Oshodi transport interchange, the airport road project, the abeokuta Rd the Oshodi BRT track project, the expansion and illumination of the Lekki epe expressway from Abraham Adesanya roundabout to Epe and so on. Why not focus on one and let's see how it goes.

By the time they are done..most of the houses around will have to evacuate...its simple logic, when u fill a parcel of land and increase its level..what happens to the surrounding areas. If you are going to spew negativity about what they are starting and not completing in Lagos, you should first show us the ones they started and later abandoned. Support your negativity with facts.

1. The people we elect and put in office are coming up with ideas, solutions, economic plans, and transportation solutions, they are basically doing what we are paying them to do while people like you needlessly wail, shout and want us to believe that their actions are all doom and gloom actions when in fact it's the other way around

2. Money or expansion of IGR/Base generates funding and financial capacities needed to build everything on your list. What they are doing in Oworonshoki means billions more in the state's account to fund social and communal services like schools, hospitals and so on, not the other way around.

You can not build or equip any hospital or school without money.

This is public administration 101.

3. Have they stopped building schools, hospitals and so on just because they are building jetties?? The answer is no. So, you have zero arguments here, you are just basically grasping at straw with that weak argument.

4. Credible and competent people can walk and chew gum at the same time, meaning they can build jetties, generate funds and build hospitals at the same time. They don't have to sit on their hands and do nothing until they've finished building hospitals, schools, roads, and bridges. Show us where that's done?

Sometimes I just wonder about you people. I won't wan't some of you to be in charge of anything in Nigeria.

The fact that you typed this epistle without even understanding my points makes trying to explain to you any further a lost cause.
Go in peace

with every land reclamation project on the Lagod lagoon, several sites are undergoing severe flooding due to displacement, affecting lives and property...

Lagos state should get huge drains and other flood defences / storm walls in place before starting these huge projects..

Akoka Shomolu LGA is a perfect example..
the street from.St Finbarrs Pako bus stop to Ilaje waterside is regularly submerged ...to the point that. one needs a canoe not a car to move around even.during the dry season!!!!

This road was hundreds of feet away from.the mangrove swamp many years ago. Currently it sits adjacent or under the Lagoon particularly at high tide !!!

Other areas include parts of Gbagada and Oworo!!

Incessant appeals to both local n state governments have been ignored!!

It shouldbe Ambode for all not for the Elite!!
