Op please don't take this advice. Don't do the ghost corper thing but ignore the bolded. That it worked for someone doesn't mean it will work that way for you or anyone else. Besides that was 20 years ago not in this era that things are worse. A bird in the hand (Msc in US) is worth 2 in the bush (Prospective job after nysc). I am telling you what I would do if I was in similar situation. Don't waste your chance.
But you have never been in that situation. Even the masters in USA is not even all it is cracked up to be. I would even prefer him going to Canada to do it and can settle there much better. The relative left 20 years ago but returned to 9ja just a few years back. People like me have been in the diaspora system long enough to see how things have changed. Even for those coming to do masters.

I always give the same advice I just did to my relatives and friends. About half of them half of them have come and returned to 9ja already. And they are glad they did NYSC. First things first. Other can follow.

So many people think that America of today is America of Bill Clinton before 9/11. Even student visa to the US isn't paying again. I know of two people that went to the US under student visa and we're shocked when they were told to go home after graduation.

Canada is the only place that is paying for now.
Who told them to go home after graduation? I’m curious

Even in Nigeria, universities don't accept HND for straight Masters, how come it's happening in USA. Just curious.
They do accept HND without the yeye PGD sef. Straight HND. Just do a credential evaluation, preferebly with WES and they will evaluate your HND to a four year US Bachelors degree. That’s all you need. It’s about $300.

Hey! Stop lying to us here
According to US Immigration Laws, the earliest time you can get an F1 student visa is 4 months to the start of your program. If your program starts in August, the earliest time to get your visa is April. So stop lying to us here.

Hello Everyone,
I am a fresh graduate from a reputable Federal Polytechnic in Nigeria, I graduated in 2017 and I am supposed to go for youth service this year (2018 Batch A Corps) which will commence soon. But I have an issue bothering me which I need a good advice on.

Last year 2017 my sister who is in USA for close to 12 years wanted me to come and hustle abroad but it's not easy for youth to go there but through schooling, so she helped me to find a good public University to do Masters, I have done the necessary processing and I have been offered an admission for the Fall Semester starting August 2018, my Visa has also been granted.

The issue on ground now is that I want to have the NYSC certificate, probably if I can runs it as a ghost Corper and get the certificate on my behalf or if an exemption can be possible.

Please I need your sincere advice. Thanks.

This is a very simple thing. While i was in service in year 2015/2016, i knew some fellow corp members who left the country then and still got their certificates sent to them when service ended. All they did was to contact the LGI and made arrangements with him and he was just taking their allowee and was signing their CDS and PVs for them.

America is a nice place filled with opportunities. I am saying this cos i have been there too. I got the visa immediately after i finished service December 2016 and i traveled there January last year but returned back June endin just to sort some things here. I am still goin back there later this year and start my life there afresh. Just take this candid advice.

Go for your masters. You can serve anytime you choose to return to Nigeria even if you are above 30 by then. What the NYSC law states is that you must serve if you graduate from a full-time programme when you were 30years old or younger. If you refuse to serve now and travel out of Nigeria, it will be assumed that you evaded service. Anytime you are ready, you can always go back to your school re-fill the mobilisation form and get called up for service. Those obviously old men you see at NYSC camp are examples. They didn't reduce their age. I met a politician during my service year in same situation. He evaded service and had to come back when he was denied some political appointments. He was 45years old then and it showed clearly on all the credentials he used for verification. Don't let NYSC be an impedance to realization of your dreams.

Go abroad if you have papers and can make them permanent, you can always go for your NYSC at any age as long as you graduated before the age of 30.

My 2 cents.

I don’t think that accurate. Once you are above 28, you don’t need to do the NYSC thing, and don’t need to show proof of youth service before applying for a job.
