I think it is clear that Kelechi has this same drive to be better at different parts of his game judging by how much he has grown despite little game time when still coming back from that injury and trying to settle into the Leicester side. On the training ground, Kelechi is a beast and puts in the hardwork and time to keep getting better. Even Pep said same thing when the rumors of Kelechi's possible departure to leicester with a buy back clause were becoming strong.

Or do you actually think Kelechi was just allowed to take that freekick against Argentina as an instinctual decision from Mikel and Rohr. No way that is so.... Kelechi had obviously been hitting those freekicks in training and scoring from them too. This is why he was the obvious choice against Argentina. Believe me, that freekick goal was not the first time Iwobi, Mikel and the other Super Eagles regulars were seeing Kelechi score. He had done so in training obviously and he is still pushing to be much better at it.

On Simon Moses, he too can hit a good freekick. Against Swaziland he showed that "twice". In the first leg he hit the post in a 0-0 draw and in Nigeria, he scored in the second leg for a 2-0 win.

I think we should not focus on having just Kelechi as our freekick taker. It is even better to have more than two set-piece kings on the team. Look at Argentina for instance, they have Messi, Dybala, Banega, and even Aguero who can all hit a good freekick. Ofcos Messi is the most unreal of them all. The King himself.

But therein lies my point, we need not just Kelechi but Simon Moses to be growing better at this freekick thing. It enhances again the different ways in which we can hurt opponents and win a game. Also consider that Kelechi is predominantly left footed. Simon being more right footed (even tho can use both feet) will provide another fine angle to free kicks...

One thing I can assure you is that the drive to be the best and keep getting better is there.... maybe not at the highest for all just yet but I see this passionate drive to keep improving in the likes of Ndidi, Kelechi, Awaziem, Ebuehi, Aina and a couple more. Our players are ambitious. That I can assure you.

Exactly my point. I know KC does those stuff. But I want it to be the entire team. it's more joy seeing the Cavani, Neymar, Alves ish happening at every free kick, setpiece than one person just bossing it always.


They should see the need for more practice. The goal scored against Cameroun from corner kick showed they've been practicing dummies on that aspect. let the fire keep burning.

I don't think they will do that, the players and fans are going to Russia. Maybe the English elites and Royals will boycot. Besides FIFA doesn't support mixing football with polítics. If they do, it may earn them sanctioning.

We can manage Ndidi-Ogu combo without Mikel, but we can't manage Ndidi-Onazi combo without Mikel because we will end up losing.Against Senegal we drew with Ogu-Ndidi(no Mikel), against South Africa we lost with Onazi-Ndidi(No Mikel).

Not taking into account the forfeited match against Algeria, Nigeria scored 11 goals during the African World Cup qualifiers with the quartet contributing to seven goals.

Moses, Iwobi, Ndidi and Kelechi have been named in Nigeria's 28-man roster for the international friendlies against Poland and Serbia later this month.

''I must confess to you that Rohr is doing very well. I went through the 28-man list that he just released for the two international friendlies and I concluded that Eagles mean business,'' Okosieme said to Nigerian Telegraph.

''I’m very happy with the current form of four of our players in top clubs in England. I see Moses, Iwobi, Iheanacho and Ndidi as players that will give Argentina and Croatia trouble.

Since Rohr came Omeruo has played just one full match so where did jigsaw get the fact to conclude that he's be average in the Gwg?

Being average does not always translate to being bad.

Omuero has been average despite his showing at the '14 WC and the AFCON triumph a year before, what would have elevated him is if he had built up on those brilliant performances and remained consistent, that wasn't the case and he's seem to have regressed terribly.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were 1-0 victors over their Zambian counterpart at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo on Saturday to seal their spot as Group B champions and secure a ticket to the world most prestigious football event set to hold next year in Russia; but is this current set-up the best we have seen in recent years?


CHUKS- ABSOLUTELY NO!
Over the course of the decade, since Nigeria returned to the world cup finals after missing out in 2006, many super eagles teams have evolved and gone into extinction, many coaches have been recruited to take charge of affairs at the helm in the National team set-up and many players have featured and have been cast away albeit a few, most notable the captain of the current side John Obi Mikel.

Currently manning the position of the technical adviser of the super eagles is a German, who has had considerable success in charge of his young crop of players in his little time in charge, much to the satisfaction of keen followers of the game in the country. But does clinching a ticket for Nigeria’s fifth showing at a world cup put the current set-up managed by Rohr a class above the teams we have in recent times, Absolutely NO!

One quality that distinguishes the best from the rest is the consistency in performance, a quick glance at football world powerhouses: Brazil, Spain and Germany and you see sides that do not just perform in qualifiers but also translate their performances into major tournaments on a consistent basis. And to that effect, this team cannot be regarded as one of the best, let alone being referred to as the best.

Gernot Rohr’s Eagles qualified for the world cup from the supposed “Group of Death” with a game to spare without needing permutations, mathematics or prayers that other group matches go in our favour(something that most super eagle’s fans have gotten used to), but nevertheless the team has not played to full potential evident in the way other opposing teams played (most notably the surprising 4-0 victory over the defending AFCON champions) and how they struggled against tactically-minded opponents.

Clement Westerhof is regarded as the best coach Nigeria has ever had because of his notable success with the Green Eagles as he conquered Africa and set Nigeria on the world football map, as the Green Eagles climbed to fifth on the FIFA ranking, Nigeria’s best ever.
Stephen Keshi’s side dominated headlines as they became AFCON Champions in 2013 in fashionable fashion, going on to make an impressive showing at the world cup and the man is still considered Nigeria’s best behind the Dutch coach.

The FIFA world cup in Russia is still far ahead and after securing a spot at the event, Gernot Rohr and his boys will be relishing the chance to stake their claim in the echelons of football most successful sides, but before then, he must ensure that his team excels on all front and this starts by stepping up their game in the race for AFCON 2019 in which they have started in a sloppy manner.

While many may not agree with me on this, I believe with the use of facts, I can gain people on my side.

Appointed August 2016 to make the Super Eagles qualify for the Russia 2018 World Cup, Gernot Rohr was able to handle the pressure with minimal time on his side. Nigeria, pitted against the Best teams in Africa in a group of death, Algeria, filled with excellent players, Cameroon, the current Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions and Zambia, 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Nigeria excellently scaled through with a game to spare and famously defeated the reigning African Champions, Cameroon by 4 goals to nil in Uyo, looking at the fact that the 64 years old is just few months over a year at the helm of affairs. The only blemish so far has been losing to South Africa at home.

Clement Westerhof , highly regarded by many as the best coach Nigeria ever had cannot match the achievements of Gernot Rohr in terms of years. When Dutch man took over in 1989, he was unable to glide Nigeria through to the 1990 World Cup and also lost to Algeria after getting to the final of the 1990 African Cup of Nations.

The 77 years old was not immediately a success story in Nigeria history of football after coming third at the 1992 AFCON losing to arch-rivals, Ghana in the semi-finals. But here is a former Bayern Munich player, Gernot Rohr, who is soaring high among his fellow coaches who has managed either the Green Eagles or Super Eagles.

Westerhof was even criticized by a member of the team, Rasheed Yekini when he said, “I have also been against this coach (Westerhof)… It is no secret that I don’t like him and he doesn’t like me. I tried to go against him long ago, but my teammates did not support me. As a result, I was played out of the game. I never saw the ball” which many considered to be the reason for his infamous goal celebration in the net as against celebrating with his team mate. This is far from happening in the current Nigeria National team set-up as a result of having a cool-headed Technical Adviser, Rohr in the team.

Gernot Rohr has shown himself to be very unique among coaches we ever had. We are known to lose players to heavyweights of international football having lost David Adetokunbo Alaba to Austria, Bamidele Alli, Gabriel Agbolanhor and the host of others to England just to mention a few. But, now we have Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina and others in the team, Akpom of Arsenal having don the green white green colours of the country and for the first time in our history, International teams are afraid of losing Nigerian prospects who grew up in their country to their source, all thanks to this tactician, who is going far and wide to get players for the country.

Finally, the issue of interference and corruption as had been often seen and heard off in the super eagles is now a thing of the past. There is fairness and equity in the team. Only a good form gives one a chance in the national team, only those deserving of a starting berth gets it. I strongly believe Nigeria is headed the right direction with the help of this “unknown” German.

His Super Eagles has defiled all odds and make Nigerians dream again. With this, I can say this is the best Nigeria National Team set-up ever.

As far as potential goes, they have the best potential of all the other teams, but as far as actual value goes, in icon4s' voice, they aren't there yet

The guy has earned his stripes in Rohr's Super Eagles set up, he deserves his respect. Just because Ebuehi has been unearthed, does not mean we should bury Shehu who has put in a great amount of service in recent times

But chairman,omeruo is not dt bad,going out on loan from a prestige club like Chelsea is a norm. At least,it took moses four seasons,b4 he could cement a first team place,besides playing for Chelsea means u av to attain some certain football IQ level,if omeruo is dt bad,he won't be recognized at all,let alone of given him a contract extension by a year(till 2019).meaning,dey still believe in him.he might have dropped in form in recent times,doesn't mean he can't pick up his best again

Ndubuisi Okosieme is a senior bro to Nkiru Okosieme of Old Falcons team that represent Nigeria at maiden edition of women WC.

Ndubuisi Okosieme was member of Nigeria Maroc 88 team and highly respected by then coach Manfred Hoener.He normally inter changed Okosieme and Wole Odegbami another good dribbler a junior bro to Segun Odegbami.

I know a lot rate Finidi George and Tijani Babangida but if we want to talk of real traditional winger then great Segun Odegbami,Wole Odegbami,Uwem Ekarika,Benji Nzeakor,Emma Okocha Jayjay senior bro and wonder boy Ndubuisi Okosieme.

Ndubuisi Okosieme was solid player with great flair on the ball,pacy,skillful and wizard when it comes to dribbling and i will never forget one of his dribbling against Cameroon at Maroc 88 that left his marker on the ground.

Honestly i don't know why Ndubuisi left football so early cos after Maroc 88 he left the stage and only remember him after i saw his sister Nkiru in the the falcon team with Chioma Ajunwa of Atlanta fame,Ann Chiejene and Florence Omagbemi

What i want to see in the friendlies.

1. A steady start: In recent games, we seem to start slowly and grow into the game. I will like to see us start faster.

2. 3-5-2 formation, we should get another look at the formation. I will also like to see us switch systems in the middle of a match.

3. New system, we should introduce another system and see how that works.

4. Game for Uche Agbo, constantly invited with no games.

5. Goalkeeping, How do the goalkeepers fare? Ezenwa will be rusty. But Akpeyi and Uzoho have been playing.

6. Joel Obi, Does he add something new?

. yes, you're right. Shehu is not below average infact he did very well at WCQ, that statement was meant specifically for Omeruo. i only called Shehu because as an example how people claim some players are better in a 4 mans defence meanwhile Ebuehi had not been given a chance to prove hie mettle.

In my opinion, Omeruo should have left Chelsea long ago. He was dropped to the under 23 in Chelsea, who also dropped him and he had to go back to Turkey.

After a fantastic 2014 WC, Omeruo could have gotten a solid move to a top league where he can improve. He didn't and has depreciated since. He has moved from the best defender in the team to 4th choice. All these loan moves are not beneficial.

That's how some said here that Shehu is better than Ebuehi in 4 man defence but Ebuehi is better in a 3 man defence, as if the former is player in a 4 man defence at his club. It can be ridiculous to you but that's my opinion based on their performance in Eagles and Omeruo getting loans should not be the yardstick in this case.

I watched Awaziem against South Africa in 4-3-3 formation and he struggle all through and had a performance that should be forgotten but watching him against Argentina especially in the 2nd half in 3-5-2 the guy looked solid and fit in.

That's my reason for picking Awaziem as the best in 3-5-2 formation,if he prove it in 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 in any of our friendlies,no issue but for now I know him as better defender in 3-5-2 based on his performance with eagles.

I think those who are of opinions that Shehu is good at 4-4-2 and Ebuhei at 3-5-2 are using Super eagles to analyse it and not their club cos not everyone has access to the club clips,so they have a very valid point until Ebuhei prove them wrong in 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formation.

If you don't rate Omeruo no issue cos it's your opinion which i must respect and i think my opinion too should be respected.
