Nigerian Trained Physiotherapists Practicing In Nigeria Or In Diaspora. by Thetherapist: 11:33am On Apr 03, 2016 |
Good day colleagues. I have decided to create this thread for all Nigerian trained physiotherapist practicing in Nigeria or in Diaspora to network together on way forward in this our noble profession. Its no longer news that the Nigeria society of physiotherapy is only out there to get our dues as physiotherapists with nothing to show for it or how else do we explain the shortage of physiotherapists in most of our tertiary health facilities and none in majority of state hospitals. MRTB isn't helping in any way as far as I'm concerned. Would stop here so as not to spread our dirty linen in public This thread is thus created for the following reasons: 1. To share information on job vacancies in various federal, state and private clinics that we are aware of. 2. To share lnformation on locum oppurtunities (some government hospitals in dare need of physiotherapists recruit on contract basis) 3. To discuss about leaving the country in search of greener pastures. How to get licensed in those countries, what the pay is, best way to get in. Other issues that you feel necessary can also be added. Thanks |

So I will start the thread with the liitle I know about relocating to Canada as a physiotherapist. I was discussing with a senior colleague few years back and I was made to realize the easiest way to migrate to Canada as a physiotherapist is through a study permit. You enrol for a 2 years masters program me after which you get entitled to 3 years PGWP. The three years I learnt can be effective for you to sort out your licensing process and get your way into applying for PR. You can start licensing process also while studying for your masters. The little challenge here is getting a supervisor for masters in rehabilitation science. Hence, the major reason why most colleagues there go for masters in public health, kinesiology or even disability studies ( chances of being admitted into this programmes as seems higher than going for masters in rehabilitation science) Another means of migrating to Canada is through the Canadian express entry. This new Canadian immigration process has become more tasking for not only physiotherapist but all professionals that requires a license to practice in Canada. You need to be available in Canada to write the licensure exam. Getting a job offer increase your score on the profile and your chances of being selected. Yet no license to practice for getting a job offer Chances to getting nominated by a province is also slim as its a regulated profession http://www.alliancept.org/credential_applicants_overview.php You can check on that link for the processes to getting a license NOTE: This is based on my own personal research. Any addition, subtraction or more explanation to that is welcome especially from physiotherapist practicing in Canada, in the express entry profile or a Nigerian trained physiotherapist in Canada for a masters degree Information about other countries is welcome 1 Like |

Interested in masters in physiotherapy in Canada? Here is a link to the list of universities http://www.physiotherapyeducation.ca/CanadianPrograms.html Note that the MPT is the entry level to practicing as a physiotherapist in Canada just like our B.Physio and BMR. So don't get confused in your search. |

I need you all to join me here, then I can talk more about migrating to other countries and the process/ processes to getting a locum job in our various government hospitals. I think I will stop here till I get more influx of physiotherapist. Don't want this thread to be a one man thing |

BolaMure: Sorry this is coming late. I created this page to get influx of physiotherapist sharing ideas just like what we have for nurses, pharmacist and doctors on this forum but it's like our colleagues are not interested in such. I really don't know much about Dubai. But you have an edge with your masters as regards migrating to Canada. What is your total CRS score on the EE profile. What about your spouse. Send me a PM. Let's talk further 1 Like |

ChucksEnagic:With your bachelor's you need 2 years experience, while with your Matsters you need 1 year experience to qualify for the DHA exam. After passing the exam ,you have to apply for job like any other applicant. The employer has to sponsor your visa. |

Haaa... Finally I found a physiotherapist forum. Who can help me? I want to relocate to Canada, I have read through the Canadian federal skilled part2 forum, it seems it's more of bankers, managers etc... I did a little research, physiotherapy is not listed. Please is it possible physiotherapists go through that process and gets good CRS points without licensure from The Alliance? Please I need to understand this .. Thanks |
Re: Nigerian Trained Physiotherapists Practicing In Nigeria Or In Diaspora. by Thetherapist: 8:54am On Mar 19, 2018 |
chicyclass: Of course, you can get a good CRS point without licensure from the alliance. Licensure from the alliance is a long process on its own from credential evaluation to writing IELTS Academic to doing bridging courses ( if need be) before the final exam. If you can ace IELTS with at least 3 years work experience, and younger. U can get a good CRS score to eventually get ITA. I know of two physiotherapist that landed this year and same last year. So its not something tedious with adequate knowledge and preps. Visit the Canada immigration thread here on Nairaland and read the first few pages to understand how the whole process works. You can start credential evaluation with the alliance when you get COPR. 1 Like |

@TheTherapist @Ibrahim This thread needs to come alive for all physiotherapists. Not just physiotherapists travelling abroad. With internship hardship. we can have to come together. |
Re: Nigerian Trained Physiotherapists Practicing In Nigeria Or In Diaspora. by Thetherapist: 11:29am On Aug 06, 2018 |
chicyclass: Sorry for the late response. I actually don't get mentions on Nairaland. So I tend to respond late. For ECA assessment, u can do ECA for your physiotherapy degree and get ITA. Just that you can't practice as a Physio when you land in Canada if you are not licensed. Licensing process is a long thing. So I advice you make it one thing at a time. Face the EE and get ITA. Then licensing can come in after that |

Hey! I saw your post on Canny immi Visa... Have your question on ICES been answered?? It is not compulsory to upload transcript, the one school sends is enough. I am also using ICES, i hope it comes out positive. PS: you pointed me in the right direction when I was in doubt. God bless. Thetherapist: |
