Hi. What if you aim to proceed to top North American schools for PhD after an MSc in the UK. Is this a good plan? How revered are UK schools in this regard?

The UK certificate is widely respected around the world so it will give an added advantage especially if your certificate is from one of the top universities in the UK.

You need to email they and indicate that you want to do a TB test for student visa, they will reply and you take it up from there.

Any pharmacist who has converted or about to convert in the UK? I intend applying for OSPAP for September 2018 session, can soneone guild me through the whole process.
Thanks

1. Do IELTS.

2. Submit IELTS results and university documents to GPhC, await adjudication.

3. Choose OSPAP university of your choice and apply to them.

4. Get your admission letter and apply for your student visa.

5. Come to UK and pass the OSPAP course (Avoid Uni'Sunderland, the OSPAP course is 'hard like stone' there).

6. Start your preregistration placement after passing the OSPAP course. You will need a Tier 1 or 2 visa e.t.c. It's hard to get this visa, and it's not a given that you will get it after you pass your OSPAP course. Plan accordingly.

7. Complete your preregistration placement and undergo your GPhC licensing exam.

8. Get licensed and enjoy your money.

Good luck!

Finally, the chicken has come home to roost.
Madam Over Sabi has finally agreed that it’s a truism that some UK schools do require IELTS from Nigerian students. That is the point I have been trying to make.
How can someone say “it is negligible if 10% of universities require IELTS? Agreed, 10% is small, but definitely NOT negligible especially when you want to make a sweeping general statement.

Let me make it clear (to Madam Aphrodite) and to other Nairalanders. I am currently attending a university in the UK. I am not talking about the kind of university that Madam Aphrodite attended. I am attending a University that is among the TOP 3 in the UK (Using any reputable global ranking). I did not have a C in WASSCE or NECO-SSCE, I had a B3 in NECO-SSCE and an A1 in English Language. YET, I had to write IELTS to get admission into my current Postgraduate course. Granted, my university does admit Nigerain students with WASSCE credits in English, my particular course required the IELTS, and I wrote it, and I am where I am today.

Aunty Aphrodite claimed to have got admission into 5 different unis, with none requiring IELTS, and she claims about 20 of her friends too got admitted without IELTS, so as far as she knows (and she doesn’t know very far), IELTS is not required by UK universities. No one can be farther away from the truth.

And when confronted with raw facts by someone with hard facts, she now resorted to denigrating the Welsh University. Meanwhile, Wales is in the UK. Meanwhile she had earlier insisted that IELTS is not required.

Very shameful is her statement that she “knows what’s up” while I am “from no where” were as, I can bet, the UK university she attended is nowhere near the one I am currently attending.

My dear Nairalanders, always take time to read the webpages of your prospective schools, and if you require clarification, your BEST bet is to contact the school FIRST. If you decide to come to Nairaland first, chances are people like Aphrodite may be the first to commend on your post, and give you wrong information such as “UK schools don’t require IELTS”.

Don’t know much about oxford Brookes.

Coventry is lovely, it has a great number of Nigerian students which has its pros (you network with fellow Nigerians and hear survival tips) and cons (you can easily be led astray). It has a number of student jobs too, and the school is situated around the city centre.

My preference will be Portsmouth. Lovely lovely place! Moderate Nigerian population that seem to be responsible. Not as much student jobs in Portsmouth itself (compared to Coventry) but you can find lots in Southampton.

Study wise, I think both are great. But I would lean towards Portsmouth more. Hope this helps.

Good day to everyone here. Can any one please provide information about British universities that accept ND(lower credit,2.82) holders into one or two years top up degree programmes??

Check QS rankings for the top schools in the UK. Break the list in half and pick the top 5 schools of the second half (that is, if the list is top 200 unis in UK, break this in half, leave the top 100 alone, and focus on the lower 100).

Browse through your course page on the websites of each of these 5 schools, then look for the email address of the program officer (like someone to contact for enquiries) and send a mail to the person summarising your problem and enquiry.

If all 5 say no, go lower on your list of UK schools and repeat. If all say Yes, go to the top half you initially ignored and try your luck there (if you care about ranking, that is!)

I have done alot of research. I haven't seen any university that accepts ND. Most I saw accepted only HND holders hence my question.

You may wish to follow the advice offered by Aphrodite above.

Better still, let “the person” do the research by him/herself.

His advice wasn't useful. He never made mention of any UK university that accepts ND holders for a one year top up degree programme. The "person" is a 17yr old boy and he isn't paying. Nothing wrong if I decide to help my younger brother.

Go back and read her advice again.
You want to sit down in your room, for someone to go and research Universities accepting OND for you?
Have you heard of “Google”? She is your friend.
Read Aphrodite’s advice. It’s the most useful advise you will get on the subject matter.

Are you also suggesting that a 17yo, who has bagged an ND cannot carry out this basic search?

(b). When is 28 days will start counting? is it after visa interview and application?

(a). The minimum that you need in any account is about £9k (for schools outside London) and £11k (for schools in London). This is open to correction I always advice to use the exchange rate on abokifx dot com Cos it’s black market rate and will save you any embarrassment in case of fluctuations.

(b). Lol this is a very funny question. The 28 day rule is before your application or interview date. To be on the safe side, leave it for 28 days before your application date. The longer it stays, the better.

(c). He can pay money into the account and can take money out, but it shouldn’t go below the money the embassy needs even for an hour!

I hope you know your dad is meant to write a letter to confirm that he is your dad and is willing to sponsor you. Also ensure that that isn’t a company account, it should be in your dad’s name.

Good luck.
