Took a white guy from Ikoyi to international airport this morning on a 1.7boost. His fare was 3,300, he gave me £20 + $5, promised to hit me up when he’s back. I drove to the airport car park and I slept till 2:30pm then I went online, I got a request and the person canceled, I checked her destination it was VI , sweet market. I called her till she answered and she wanted to deliver something. I billed her 15k and am done for the day. Just 2 trips! God is Good wink

I knew this from the get go, even when people were putting big cars on the platform, I had always been pragmatic.

My only mistake was starting the business with Nigerian used cars. I even bought two at once. Had to dispose them after six months and start afresh again. But the experience has been helpful.

What's it with naija used cars?

they are not well maintained, either the engine shorts oil or the transmission does not shift well or car overheats.

Most times I just look for one with a sharp body and interior, then replace engine and transmission.

When experienced drivers gross over #200,000 in one week and you are netting less than #70,000, don't cry ooo. Lol cheesy grin

P.S Am sipping whiskey at home. These days I work less than 8hours daily. No more night shifts.

I have paid my dues.

Your response clearly signifies you don't have experience.

This is what I mean.

Under rental, you only take care of minor repairs or even no repairs at all like in my own case. I like doing all repairs myself to ensure quality

Under HP, everything is on you driver, everything for at least 18 months. Suspension, ac, linkage, and maybe engine (if unlucky).

To survive you need to save at 8 to 10k weekly to cover for any expenses minus regular service.

You need to pay rentals, maybe 35k

Fuel 10 to 15k weekly (depends on the car)

You will eat, your family, extended, mistresses and concubines.

Under HP the minimum amount you should make weekly is 100k to be comfortable.

To make a consistent 100k weekly is not by reading the advice by gurus here.

Everyone knows theory is way different from practical.

Like they will always say, experience is the best teacher.

I still stand by my earlier assertion : DRIVING UNDER HP ARRANGEMENT FOR A NEW DRIVER W/O E-HAILING EXPERIENCE IS SUICIDAL.

I absolutely agree.
Before anyone can come and claim that experience is overrated, the person should first gross #100,000+ week in, week out; for minimum of 4 consecutive weeks

High mileage, implying weakened struts and suspension parts ... frequent repairs, more downtime, lost income opportunities for e- hailing driver

I would have just continued with my normal day. Who knows, maybe I'll make another #20,000 extra income.
As e- hailing drivers, our skill and our time are the commodities we are selling. We should always maximize!
