They are actually sold as exotic products. Same way you will pay higher for top of the line brands like Gucci, Ferragamo and the likes unlike mass produced imports like the regular imported shirts, jeans you see around

Once it gets to London, it automatically becomes "foreign".. The London, Holland, Japan, France wax that are usually sold at exuberant prices in Nigeria are usually very very cheap in there respective countries. A piece of Kolanut that is not sold beyond 100naira in Nigeria, but a friend of mine use too sell a piece of it at 1500naira in dubai...
