As an experienced ex army boss, is that the best advice he can give to curbs the Menace

What you don’t know and will never know is that words of caution over time have been sent out to Buhari and his men, they simply ignored. Buhari was summoned in November last year when they gathered and he pleaded to act. This is March 2018.

Don’t ever imagine the men who kept Nigeria together are not making efforts behind closed curtain to enthrone sanctity in the polity. Clearly Buhari resent these men yet he is clueless on having a superior approach in keeping Nigeria together beyond his jihardist tendencies.

Is Nigerian Armed Forces = Nigerian Army.
Go back and analyse his post; he was not referring to the president (which he specifically did subsequently in his next sentence)

it's part of human rights to defend his life and properties against dangerous intruders.

If it was people like Goodluck Jonathan, James Ibori or "no level" peeps from the south that made that statement, the military would ve called for their head but hear their soft response to Danjuma.

Owners of Nigeria includes:
The evil genius
The Jukun general
Matthew
The white beard general
Former Turaki Adamawa
The Awolowo impostor
The Sultan and the grand children of Dan
fodio
No 3 person has sworn that if anyone wants to see his red eye the person should call him MATHEW and you just did he further stated that he is not a tax collector n that was why he hated his English name mathew grin

Have the Nigerian army being living up to it responsibility

its good to know that Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma is a former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General

so he knows what he is saying! Even a day old knows that the Nigerian army has being compromised!

I pity anyone who would follow this advice given by the Nigerian military!

Stop supporting ignorance and misinformation; ppl should not be encouraged to make false statement especially expensive ones like that; aimed to dive and incite.

Incite? Are you living in a different country. Tell me one plausible effort the Nigeria Army has made in the face of uncertainty and unnecessary killings?

The excuses now out weigh sound reasoning of most Nigerians.

ThisDaylive: What do you have to say about the level of insecurity in Nigeria?

Junaid Mohammed: It is clear that Buhari is not in charge. Who is in charge of security and who’s in charge of the economy is anybody’s guess. Clearly, Buhari is not in charge; clearly, the Presidency isn’t in charge. Clearly, the National Assembly isn’t in charge –they’re too irresponsible. They’re too obsessed with their own welfare and corruption; humongous and irresponsible salary to pay attention to the well-being and development of citizens of this country. I believe any responsible government confronting any of the challenges Nigeria is confronted with should pause and think –think very seriously about the problems bedeviling the people of this country. Any attempt by anybody to explain away the phenomenon of Boko Haram terrorists, the miscreants in the Niger Delta, and the so-called herdsmen-farmers conflict, will do himself a world of good to look at the underlying facilitation of the problems in this country; from the injustice, total lack of responsible policies, governance, corruption which is endemic and is only being fought selectively, while other people – relations, friends, nephews, and in-laws of the President are at the centre of corruption. I really can’t see how this can be resolved, because they’re multi-ferious and multi-faceted. And I believe there’s no good intention to resolve the issue. And as you must know, some people are playing politics with the Boko Haram insurgency. The army, for example, is guilty of everything in connection with Boko Haram: Abduction of people, seizing people’s farms, raping of women and young girls; taking people’s property especially in Lake Chad (area) which is rich in terms of fish. Instead of protecting people, they’re confiscating what belongs to innocent people. What we have is an army of occupation that does not care about what is happening to hapless, harmless, innocent people.
And, when you look at the top echelon of the Armed Forces, you will see people who are marking time; officers whose tenures were extended not because of their achievements or merit but due to other considerations. We are troubled by some lousy leadership at the cabinet level and at the president’s level. Nigeria is faced with serious nepotism which is a form of corruption; some people who’re related to Buhari have been indicted with serious acts of corruption and he has not done anything. But other people who have no connection with him are being hounded and frustrated.

I agree because it is a total absurdity for the President to be totally in the dark on security issues as well as the activities of his armed forces. It is sad but laughable at the same time.

No amount of military forces can defeat emacipation of a determined mass civilians. T Y Danjuma is far better than the whole nigerian military and their satanic commander.
They even forgot they have people from other regions serving under Nigeria army. If push comes to shove, everyone will defend his region. Buhari does not understand that Fulani can never overrun the whole nation.

Why have you chosen to be neutral in the face of incessant killings by the armed herdsmen? Neutrality is this case is bias. That's why Danjuma gingered you to be combatant instead of your middle neutral no result approach.

The nigerian Army leadership can go and die!! Physically address the issue so we know that critiques are just being 'mischievous'. no!! they'd rather sit on their asses. Bunch of useless abokis and their lackeys. Buhari is a bastard if he does not address this issue. Karma is a bitch, they should watch out ! Starting with the useless President. Aren’t you pathetic to even identify as a Nigerian. You are a disgrace to common sense.

DAPCHI GIRLS SAGA: THE FLYING DIMENSION SURELY RAISES FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS!
I initally decided not to write on the Dapchi Kidnapping saga because I just wanted to "enjoy" what others were writing on it. But that changed I after I read that the girls were flown in planes.

Planes?

Now, let us look at some scenarios:

* If it was just an airstrip (and not conventional airport) that was used, who gave the militant's air traffic clearance to take off and land?

*Most planes that can sit more than 50 passengers use turbine engines and usually need conventional airports to land and take off, so does it mean Boko Haram now has an airport with full complement of control tower and air traffic controllers?

* The closest airfield to Dapchi is in Diffa which is about 200 kilometres from Dapchi. The other conventional airport is in Maiduguri. It may interest you to know that Diffa is in Niger Republic.

* If you check the two pictures (taken via Google Earth) that accompany this post, you will see that the closest airport (or even airstrip), within Nigeria, to Dapchi is the Maiduguri airport.

* Does it mean the girls were first taken to Niger Republic before being flown back to Nigeria.

* Between Diffa (in Niger Republic) and Nigeria, there is a big stream which actually forms the boundary between the two countries. So if they were taken to Diffa by road from Dapchi, how did they cross?

Now the questions:

* Which airport was used to convey the girls in a plane?

* No aircraft can fly in any country's airspace without being picked up by the radar. How come they were not seen via radar?

* Even if you visit flyradar24.com, you will see every aircraft that is airborne in any country at that particular minute. Did anyone see their plane?

I am a reporter. I have put these scenarios and questions across so that readers and commentators can draw their own conclusions.

And it is these scenarios and unanswered questions that make the tales of one Sergeant Bako a bit worthy of being read again even if they sound like moonlight stories.

Happy Palm Sunday...
