Congratulations. Please what hospital did you have LO in the states & which hospital do you plan on having LO? What other documents will be requested for at POE?

Jenny8935:
Good evening everyone. I have been a silent reader for about 2 months. DH and I went for our interview today but before I proceed let me give a brief history. DH and I applied for a B1/2 visa in July 2014. Had d interview in September 2014. Was asked if I was pregnant and said NO ( I wasn't). Was asked if I intended to receive medical care over there and said NO. Visa granted, traveled in October for the conference but returned last week of October with a missed period. DH and I felt we could use dsame visa for childbirth. Honestly had no clue about medical visa(thought B1/B2 covered all). Also had no idea about this forum or about a change of intent letter. So, started our search for Dr, hospital, got estimates and paid. FF to POE in May 2015, CBS asked why I was in the US and I innocently declared Childbirth (thought I was good to go) was asked why I lied at interview about d pregnancy (thats when I knew there was trouble) .... But told the CBP that I didn't lie cos I wasn't preggy at the time of interview. Asked if I notified d embassy and said NO cos I had no idea that I was to notify. Asked for my estimates, evidence of payment and Dr's appointment and statement which I showed and was stamped in for 6months (was lucky to have had the documents). Had LO mid June 2015. And left after another one month. Traveled again in Aug 2016 for family vacation with DH and 2 older kids and LO (who was 1 at the time). So visa got expired over a year ago and I am preparing for second missionary journey. That's when I came across this forum and have been reading like I am preparing for my final exams. So, got all my documents ready and nicely arranged (thanks to NL) including zero balances, itemized statements and receipts of payment etc, then scheduled my face interview.(applied for medical visa this time)
FF to today, 7am interview at Lagos.

VO: Good morning
We: Good morning
VO: Purpose of travel?
DH: Medical. DW and I are expecting our 4th baby and would like to have the baby in the US for a second time.
VO: Did you say second time?
We: Yes
VO: So, you have had a baby previously in the US?
We: Yes, our third baby
VO: when was the date of birth?
DH: 2016
Me: No,... June 2015
VO: In your last interview in 2014, you were asked if you were going to seek medical care in the US and you said NO, is that right?
We: Yes, but at that time we weren't seeking medical treatment and we were not pregnant. (told the truth like I did at the POE)
VO: Okay..... Types oh.....
VO: what was your budget at the last childbirth
DH: $7k for d delivery proper but over $11k total (excluding accommodation which was free)
VO: what's the budget for this delivery?
Me: a little above $15k including accommodation, would you like to see our budget sheet?
VO: No, if I need documents, I will let you know
VO: what do you do?
DH: (Bleep) with special interest in (bleep)
DW: (Bleep)... at (bleep)
VO: Okay, your visa has been approved..... Bla bla bla

Join me in thanking God for his mercies and for allowing the VO see through my truthfulness, innocence and openness. It really does pay to be truthful and open. All glory to God and thanks to you all. Not even one document sighted or asked for.

Please house, I am new here, tried reading previous posts. I am currently studying in UK, planning to take in middle of this year but will like to have my baby in US as UK doesn't give citizenship at birth.

Please which state in the US should I look at for and which affordable hospital? And also where I can quickly get paper for my child after birth? I have no family member in the US but that's not a problem for me. I am ready to go through it all, I just want America citizenship for my child. Please advise me experienced people. Thanks and God bless.

@ All,

Apologies in advance if I offend. I'm sure some people will be offended.

The thread is not as vibrant as I saw in parts 1 -5 and I think it's for 2 reasons:

1) people are not giving back. I'm sure there have been successful interviews but they are not being shared...or maybe I'm wrong..... POE experiences too are few.....and feedback after birth has almost disappeared. Or maybe fewer people than before are on NL planning this birthing trip. BtW why is it called missionary journey?

2) people are not willing to read/research. A lot of PMs are being exchanged, many people asking for which hospital to use despite the different names and states that have been shared in the past. Specific questions are fine but asking for an "A to Z"/comprehensive guide of the process?? That's all on page 0..
Read @justwise's post undecided

It's sad to see a forum I learnt so much from dwindle. There's a wealth of info here, that you'll be glad you researched it, if you just take the time to read up. You'll also save yourself time and the error of incomplete info from well-meaning relatives and friends. For example my sibling told me it would take 2 weeks to get an expedited U.S. passport. Truly, that's what the websites say but I knew from the experience of mamas here that next day is possible.

When all is done...please tell us how it went/share your experience no matter how *modified* straight forward or k-legged..someone may learn something.

Hi FeminineA, Replied your mail. Let me give you heads up.
Chris Health isn't cheap o. Maybe the hospital bill ($2650) but others doctor, paediatric fees and all others things are not.

As in!!!!! Me sef tire!!! Please newbies readup! Cz it is annoying and irritating to have you ask obvious questions (questions that have been answered and over dealt with...if only YOU READ!!!!e.g "i intend to give birth in the States, please can someone recommend an affordable hospital and dr for me?" )
Gurus in the house arent gurus just cz they have spent ages on this thread, they are gurus because they read up and took notes!! That is why they can answer questions with some level of accuracy!
Please loved ones, dont stop sharing your experiences (Visa, POE, Documentation etc). They are what helps in making the thread worth reading and informative. Mamaron, you said it all. God bless you!

PS: any recent Washington dulles POE experience? Waiting to read!

Good evening everyone. Please I have plans of going to give birth in Florida. Please anybody have idea of cost of accommodation for one bedroom apartment, and contact of someone who can help out. Plus I want to know if it's advisable to give birth in Florida. Finally and Florida mom in this forum, I don't have any family members or friends, so I don't mind meeting some friends here. Thanks

It’s not discounted. You’re even better off buying on Amazon, Target or Walmart cos there are better deals on there still.

Interesting. Have you considered expediting your appointment based on medical reasons?

I'm assuming you are pregnant. Or is the interview for you and hubby?

vitrendy4eva:
They just shifted all appointments scheduled for tomorrow in Lagos to a month later! This doesn't make sense at all. And to believe all they did was send an sms notification at past 3pm.

Houtson is the popular state used by many. So you may want to narrow your search.

looks like some people don't know the meaning of "google it" or there is no search bar on the web pages they use.

someone mentioned in this group that we should research more. the high demand would make these hosptals increase their prices. there loads of hospitals reducing their prices for cash pay people like us. dont let laziness of researching make u pay too much, you know we make our daily living in NAIRA

Hello house,

I applied for my visa interview alone but now I want to apply with hubby.

Problem is I can only change the date of my interview but I can't include a family member.

He also can't include me on his profile to schedule an appointment cos it would show that my mrv receipt has already been used.

Any help on how we can apply together?

Hello everyone, please I need an advice. I had shared my POE experience weeks ago where I wasn’t asked about duration of stay or pregnancy.
DH is joining me soon and I will like to know if he needs to mention child birth at POE or he should simply say vacation. I intend scanning receipts to him and his duration of stay is 4 weeks
Thank you.
