Oga Spyder, Here is a crazy idea. Have you thought of slopping the floor so that it does not hold water while the tank is suspended horizontally with concrete pillars say 6 inches above the sloped floor? you could even have the sloped surface covered with roofing material. If you get my drift, it is worth considering from a professional perspective.

My primary concern is water retention. What I wish to do is make any water that gathers there either by rain or leaky pipe to quickly make it's way down. I just want to see how someone else has done it but I do have ideas.

There'll only be a 500-liter tank up there. I want the water to continuously flow through to dissuade algae growth. The smaller the tank the more effective this will be.

No allowance for drainage was made during construction as it was an afterthought. This is why I have to be anal about water collection. It was sloped though but I can't just have it washing down the side of the building so I need to collect it somehow. You can already see it staining the bare block

In sane climes the government provides grants, rebates and other incentives to encourage the use of renewable energy and eco friendly products.
In Nigeria the government not only places duties on them, but increases duties. The same govt that pushes campaings on alternative energy sources, is forcing it's citizens into continued dependence on fossil fuels

The "Nigeria" entity defies sane Logic.

How can they afford to let the masses have constant electricity?... you just might get too comfortable and start thinking of breaking the chains of inflicted economic hardship & mental slavery

Nigeria is not generating up to 11,000MW boss, It was broadcasted on media the first day of the year by APC(the ruling party) that Nigeria is now generating 7000MW, 2weeks after minister of works, housing and power said our MW has dropped back to 5,000MW when there is no regular power supply as usual(I mean our normal 4hrs per day ooo)

Why not use a float switch? There will be no water leakage from the tank. The only water you will deal with is rain water. OR

Some houses in an estate on the island roof their tank, that is, you won't see the tank outside. They use float switches to regulate pumping and discharging of water.

Oga @spyder880 might not be able to use it for a commercial building though because of maintenance issues.

I'm surprised to read this though as I thought you were going to adopt those fancy ground level tank solar pump solution you've been advocating. So you are going to rely on natural gravity after all. Let's face it; when it comes to home water distribution, NOTHING beats gravity. NOTHING!!! . All those talk of solar pump, gushing water from ground zero to mount Everest is just what it is: fighting talk. So weather it's a steel tower or tank on roof all na tower relying on gravity which is the best solution to achieving water pressure at home.

South Africa you cited has an effective and excellent justice system, the former president is currently facing alot of kasala for corruption related cases, kill or reduce corruption in Nigeria and see how the glory of the country will shine, tolerate it with kid gloves and we will be having this same conversation in 2050, the same problem you see in the power sector is replicate in every facet in the country

There is corruption globally but the question is how do other countries punish economic saboteurs, how does the US, China, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Singapore etc deal with corruption and economic saboteurs, therein lies the answer.

Unfortunately, I don't do fighting talk. I leave that to others. I never said that I wasn't going to rely on gravity, only a total fool will say that. What I said was that I will not have an unsightly, potentially unsafe and unnecessary ungainly elevated water tower on "my" site.

I have three separate buildings on my site, each with different needs.

The main house is the one that has an elevated platform (not built specifically as a water stand because it's the reinforced roof of my safe room). I will never have a grotesque elevated water tower on my site. Period. I was an advocate of that before but not anymore.

My BQ is indeed powered by a gravity fed tank on only ~2 feet high platform. See attached picture of the platform and the water pressure. Even water is coming out of the shower.

If I decide not to place a tank on top of my roof due to my fears of a water leak, I will pressurize the flow into this building from that 2' tall tank into the main house.

You should always make sure that your powder is dry ....

I'm not too sure but I think you may have conceptualised 'fighting talk' wrongly. Fighting talk as used with this debate is challenging well tested, tried concept with romantic idealism. It has nothing to do with roforofo fight as you hinted, I trust you know I'm not in that wavelength at all.

Now back to topic. I'm with you looking for an alternative around any building methods or solutions you don't like. I'm like that as well but I'm very practical and realistic and in most cases, any alternative solution I settle for should be superior than that I don't like.

As with this debate and with your quest to achieve useable water pressure at home, any solution that doesn't harvest and incorporate natural gravity, will suffer vexatious recurrent maintenance costs which some will argue is not functional a
nd can't be the best solution.

These bunch of criminals are united in looting the system . The only language they understand is looting. I don’t blame them but the people that keep voting them to power. If only we make suceeed in send couple these criminals to 50+ year in jail, things will change in record time.
