Almost 8 years ago, three (3) very close communities – with the combined land mass that is not up to that of Surulere – were promised 3 flyovers each.

Typically, residents of these communities received the promise with joy and great expectations.

These communities, Alagbole-Akute-Ijoko area of Ogun state, are at the Lagos-Ogun state border – and just a few minutes away from Ojodu-Berger in Lagos state.

A great number of residents of these areas work in Lagos state, although their taxes are remitted to the Ogun state government.

The 3 flyovers being constructed are located at Alagbole-Odo-Yakoyo, Akute-Ijoko and Sango-Ijoko-Abiodun-Ojodu.

The 3 flyovers are part of a 32km road construction project, that also includes the construction of 5 bridges.



The project commenced sometime in 2012 and was expected to be delivered under 30 months. Sadly, the delivery date has been surpassed by a few years shy of a decade.

Indeed, the project timeline suffered several setbacks. At different times, construction activities at these sites have suffered different states of abandonment.

All these have contributed to the enormous inconveniences and hardship suffered by residents of Lambe, Akute, Ajuwon, Ijoko, etc. Motorists also have had to put up with the most horrific road conditions at these locations.

The on and off construction activities on the some of these bridges have also cost the lives of many residents.



Indeed, the residents of these locations understand that to make omelette one must break eggs. However, preparing the omelette at these flyovers is taking far longer and more agonizing experiences than the residents bargained for.



Thankfully, in recent days, construction activities at the Alagbole-Odo-Yakoyo flyover has picked up an impressive pace. The Sango-Ijoko flyover construction work has also resumed, although at an unimpressive pace.

Sadly, the Akute-Ijoko flyover is currently suffering total abandonment.

Hopefully, before the 2019 general elections, at least one of the 3 flyovers is expected to be completed. The politicians would need it for bragging rights.

Amosun should step up his game of the entire state development, there are other upcoming new towns in Ogun State that he has not shown any sign that there is a government apart from collecting home owners levies from them.

That's one useless governor. The guy started those projects six years ago and everything has been Abandoned as far back as 2014/2015. One year to leave office, the fool wants to construct 100 fresh roads. The suffering people go through in that route is insane. Gov Ambode is just three years in office and has done x40 what this village goat couldn't do. From Sango to Ifo, and Atan to Agbara where the fool is generating insane IGR, those areas are abandoned and made to look like dustbin. Not one single project. The guy is too busy fixing empty roads in his villages in Abk. Mad man. He spent eight years only fixing Abk. I've moved most of my investment back to Lagos and done with that useless, insecure, dirty and filthy state. And I know the next gov will also go and focus on some Ijebu village and spend a other eight years there. Useless state and it's monkey leaders.

Amosun messed up in this area and few substandard projects in other part of the state but still the best governor Ogun state has ever produced.

Of recent, construction activities has really picked in the state.

He shouldn't forget ogijo-sagamu, papalanto-sagamu, agbara-atan, akuto-Ijoko-sango roads.

Another means of choppery for dem leaders. Dem no go finish dat road till Jesus comes back.

I didn't jump to comment, what has PDP done that supercedes that of APC. Yes is not completed but am sure if Ogun state have another governor from the platform of APC, he will complete the construction. Look at lagos state today. Mind you is not up to a decade.

6 years after, this is still being built.lol. i remember lots of building were demolished along that axis with zero compensation.

I also wonder how people survive with all those red dust particles in the air, and the unsafe/dangerous abandoned bridge pillars. Shit hole state.

If only lagos had succesfully annexed that area like 18 years ago. The story would have been different.
