I am concerned about what happens when the inverter feeds incoming mains (or generator power) directly to house appliances when it's in bypass mode. The other day my gen produced almost 290V and blew up the charging circuitry of my DC fans. Another time the voltage from PHCN was so low (it got as bad as 130VAC) the LED lights were barely providing any visibility, yet the inverter refused to take over. In both cases it just just fed the out-of-range voltage straight to house devices. I would like the inverter to only feed regulated power to appliances.

Pranil mentioned the AVS30 but it seems to only work with a range of 'acceptable' voltages - it doesn't step up/down and will just cut off if dirty power comes in. Would a 5kva relay-stabilizer (non-servo because i'm cutting costs and also because I don't mind the +/- 10% variation in output voltage) be appropriate to put in between mains power and a 3kva inverter proper?

most mordern inverters have in inbuilt voltage cut off, like must power...when phcn is below 160v, it switches to battery as source, and when voltage is above 280v its supposed to cut off..i guess [have not seen this happen, but have seen that of 160v happen]

Congrats, davodyguy.

But please permit me, guys... isn't the total watts from the panels in this configuration not supposed to be limited to 270 + 250 = 520 Watts? Or, have I been missing/muddling up some of my lessons learnt? (Honestly, I'm relatively new to all of this.)

Yes. Instead of 1060 watts, I'm getting 1040watts

The smallest wattage Panel is dominant of the higher one.

Try 200 watts +330watts, you'll get 400watts instead of 530watts

You need a stab after the mains, i.e. Ur inverter connects to a stab.
Otherwise, garbage in, garbage out!

Never do that . Your inverter is feeding the additional power consumed by stabilizer ( at 10 % lossess between 30 to 200 watt on fill load) . doesnot server any purpose

three alternatives

1. Stab before inverter ( again losses but acceptable as they are on NEPA/Gen)
2. Get a better inverter most of the good brands do it not necessary only high end PRAG,Ipower, sukam, luminous to name a few that I am aware off
with BAd voltages they cut the input and run on inverter mode
3. run two inverters ( one inverter charger large capacity for power-hungry loads with AVS 30 behind to cut really bad voltages and surges) with additional small inverter only model to power sensitive loads. Losses are high but this ensures a really clean supply like a gaint UPS

I run a 500 VA phoenix ( victron inverter on my 20 KWH bank fed by power ( to charge through neap and solar) the Pheonix power my computers and AV system essentially isolating them from NEPA , surges, bad voltages and allows me to tinker with main inverters while keeping essential stuff on

Not to belabor this, but I think my post was lost in translation, lol. What I meant is this:

Because your two strings are each in series, you should get just 270 Watts from the fist string, not 270+270.
And from the second string, you should get 250 Watts only, not 270+250.
So, total from the two strings combined in parallel should then be 270 + 250 = 520 Watts, not 1040. No?

Again, I stand corrected if I've got all of this twisted.

Anybody with experience with these kind of frame less Modules?

PV connection is different from battery connection.

You're mixing things up.

Just google 'Solar Panel combination' and you get to learn more

No personal experience but I have an expert called BIPV ( building integrated PV) in my Abudhabi office who has used that brand extensively in may projects and has no complaints. You can also order the glass in a different colour for large projects to match building aesthetics

Pay attention to mounting though mounting is different than normal as the joints have to be waterproof

Got lots of experience with this...

High efficiency Grade A glass panels, low light sensitivity, no ground required.

SEAM60 280w mono panels...

What do you want to know?

I love this option, I also checked out the inverter, are u using the 12 or 24v version (l know that u have a 48v system). The output voltage is 120v, is that right or do u ve d 220v type?

Good evening everyone,

I want to enquire if anyone has contacts of suppliers of the green innovation (GI solar)
DC air conditioner in Nigeria?

I hate inverters. I power everything directly from the battery. No energy to waste

hello spyglass,
those of us using inverters do so not necessarily because we 'love' inverters
but because of the convenience it provides.going the dc route may sound cool,
I.e no extra cost of inverter purchase, no power losses arising from stepping up
to a higher voltage, etc but when it comes to getting actual dc equipment to work
with your system, that is where the nightmare begins.besides that, the size of
wires you need for a dc only household would be like triple the size of wires
needed for ac.then you have to deal with availability of dc spares and the rest.
for ac however, once you get your inverter, every other thing falls into place.

grin second time Im seeing the comment on this thread

Yes, you can run everything from battery since your load is under 100watts in Total

To run 150watts plus applications then you need Inverters

Interested in the price list. I hope to go solar by the end of the year. Even if it requires buying the materials little by little wink

Same here, and hopefully before the end of the third quarter, even when wet. Hopefully such inadvertent timing will help to not have to later experience production any more poor. wink

NO EU version 230 V 50 HZ runs on 48 V since I do not want to unbalance my battery bank.

By next month I will have another 350 VA for sale with Bluetooth Dongle as I will be moving the lighting to Lithium based main system ( it was feeding my security lights and camera
