They seized properties in present day Rivers nd Bayelsa states during the war. What happened? Nothing.

Which reprisal? You want a new country to build its foundations by reprisals and brickbats?

How may non Igbos have properties in the SE? You want to fight those who have nothing to lose?

See, you'll be shocked at what even the SS guys would do to Biafra. It's a dog eat dog world bro.
The bitter truth.

Some Nigerians in their stream of thought look funny. If Biafra was allowed to stay and have its armed forces, do you honestly think a property would have been declared abandoned? The abandoned property saga achieved the enjoyment the northerners and Yari.ba seemed to have in today's Nigeria. It was used to create a everlasting enmity between Ndigbo and their neighbors. You should have asked yourself why are there no abandoned properties in western and northern regions of Nigeria. Does it mean that Ndigbo never had properties in western and northern regions before the civil war? Please just think.

If Biafra had any army, what would they have done? March into Port Harcourt? Lmao
It's like you're new onto international matters

What did Britain do when Nigeria nationalised British Petroleum in Nigeria?

FYI, Biafra had an army which prosecuted the war before losing. It is extremely naive of you to think that someone somewhere would sit down and allow your wishes come through.

We are talking about savages here not citizens of a western democracy.

Even under one naijeria, these savages never hide their hate for the igbo people. Imagine what they would do outside that umbrella.

If you want independence, you have to forget your properties because it will be lost. That is inevitable.

Go home, build a strong economy and military in 10-20 years and then slowly regain lost territories like china is doing to Japan.
Biafra should have armed forces and have certain controls over territories. If Biafra or Republic of Igbo land is actualized today, should it also be mandated not to have armed forces or have friends? It is very unfortunate most Nigerians draw conclusion from a situation of nonexistent nation called Biafra.

If biafra gains independence today hypothetically, biafrans would be like vulnerable sheeps trying to find their way.

There would be no military, no economy, nothing.

It now depends on the innate IQ of the populace to meander their way through all that systemic mess and create a working ecosystem just like Isreal did.

It is the IQ of the populace that would determine if biafra would become a small but mighty bully like Isreal or a somalia.

This exactly is now all major countries evolved. Even the United States was nothing after the war of independence. It is left for you to carve out your future and pursue it.

Some people think once Biafra comes, the solution to their problems has arrived. They are forgetting that in Biafra, you must provide solutions to not only your problems but problems of coming generations.

In your wildest of imagination, have you heard about a start up country without armed peasants? I guess the word, peasants, should make you happy. Biafra, without any conventional army, fought Nigeria and its allies for more than two years. If Biafra was given a year to live and build up its armed forces, Nigeria and its allies would have spent something times thinking about that silly engagement.

Are you this low? Port Harcourt was an integral part of eastern region and there would have been no discursion. Nigeria did not nationalized British Petroleum in Nigeria. There is still SBPC drilling crude oil in Nigeria till now. Nigeria just indigenized most corporations jointly owned since it is a republic.

Good you know this is human process which would-be Biafrans or Igbo people from Republic of Igbo land had resolved to face. I do not understand why some people are twisted out of human form because certain people seemed to be careless about the fear of the unknown.

then that is what we must do. I know some Nigerians no matter how small also have property in Igboland...they must also learn to forget it.

In 1984 Buhari forced Ghanans out of Nigeria...today Ghana is doing better than nigeria and wants nigerians out.. touchè

I also believe that wat will make or marr Biafra is not the ppl but the leadership. A responsibe leadership would be able to Negotiate with Nigeria to get a favourable deal for Igbos who have property in Nigeria.
Glo, Nigeria- owned banks, nigeria brewries and other businesses of nigerian origin would be used as leverage. Also the issue of National building will depend on leadership also. Ghana was battered by corruption after independence till jerry rawlings happened.
We have capable igbos. I recall how sullivan chime transformed enugu...how soludo transformed nigeria banking sector...we only need to put learned ppl in positions of leadership, and WICKEDLY demand accountabilty from them

Nigeria is indeed a shit hole

Hardly will you see a patriotic person in this zoo
Even the abokis and afonjas are not patriotic.

Apart from ndigbo; every other tribe in this animal kingdom is docile and lack vision

This country is a disgrace to any sensible human being

Tribalism and religious extremism is the order if the day

I am sick and tired of sharing same country with barbarians and savage terrorists

A Biafra Nation Will be miles ahead of this animal kingdom by far

You guys think a break will be gentlemanly. Who will declare them foreign investors? Who will register them as such? The same Nigerians they broke away from? You guys are clearly not thinking through this well. There will be a massacre of Igbos across Nigeria, especially in the North, as Yorubas are somewhat less violent. You guys need to research the history of the Biafra war, and if you do, you'll be a lot more careful what you wish for.

Not true. That is like saying that all Nigerians living outside Nigeria can lose their investments and go back to Nigeria. That is not possible because international law protects properties and investments anywhere in the world.

Britain is officially leaving the EU next year but the over one million British citizens living in Europe have not been asked to go anywhere and non of them will lose their investments
My guy, you are comparing the Shithole/Zoo to Europeans. Again, there will be no gentleman agreement like the EU; this will all end in blood, African style. Please wake up!

Very Wrong about properties. Igbos who identify with the new country will become foreigners in Nigeria and will be foreign investors just like other foreigners that own houses and businesses in Nigeria today. There is no difference but I have this feeling that blind hatred towards igbos will create double standards.
If you believe that Nigerians would go ahead and register Igbos as foreigners and investors, you are daydreaming, and that's what you bunch are: daydreamers. Igbos will be deported enmasse and also violently (other tribes would expect the same, but as you know Igbos move around the most). They would be asked to pronounce kobo, or a telling Hausa word. You have not answered my question though. Again, which Igbo politician that has held office in the last nineteen years is not a thief?>

The Igbo nation has the most to lose from the arrangement you prescribe. Millions of Igbos would have to leave their properties behind and move back to the confines of Igboland. Igbos live with other tribes the most, even though the ignorant ones complain all the time. All Igbo billionaires/millionaires would have to go back to zero, except their wealth is not in Naira. This silliness (I want my own space!!!) would not end well. Are your Igbo governors not stealing funds like the Fulanis/Yoruba governors? Are they bringing any development to Igboland that is not seen in other regions? If they are, then why don't Igbo's stay home?

Not true, it is because Africa is still backward that people still fight to be together.

Czech Republic and Republic of Solakia broke away from each other, there was no noise

Britain broke away from EU, there was no noise

Its in Africa some people will say they want to go there way and you hear treason! Python dance! Terrorist!

Ridiculous logic. If you're a "Biafran", you're an embarrassment to their "superbrain". Are Yorubas the colonial masters of the Igbos? Because you use UK and Nigeria as your counter-logic (India and Pakistan is a lot closer). As for Czech and Slovakia, please go read the history between those 2 again; add Yugoslavia to your reading too. Well, we are in Africa, and in Africa, there will be bloodbath. If that is the plan of you and your Biafran ilk, to have it both ways (new country but stay in the old country as foreign investors), my brother, I have a bridge for sale.

Bloodbath is what Nigerians are about. Biafran are after a the democratic instrument of a referendum as has been used in civilised places like Scotland in 2014

Biafrans don't have to wait for that; they can just start moving to Biafra and save us all the pain. I don't know why this is so difficult. In the referendum, who will vote? All Nigerians? Or Igbos only? This issue is not difficult at all: Igbos, by their actions, don't want Biafra; if they do, they can always move, but no, they moving more into other tribe's community and shouting Biafra. Abegi!!

Why it is so difficult is because they have done that before but you Nigerians still came for them. In 1967, they moved home, declared their own country. You Nigerians still came to the East to fight for 3 years to bring them back into Nigeria. Now you want them to do that again? Nobody is going to repeat such mistake twice.

Referendum date first before moving.

First of all, many Igbos like me nowadays will rather not invest in property at all than invest outside Igboland. U may not knw this cos u still see so many igbo property in lagos.
Second on the issue of blood bath ....do u even realise that 1. There is an international community? 2. That Biafra will have a military? 3. Do u realise that many non Igbos are in igboland. FG civil servants, traders, pastors, bankers and professional? Would fg of Nigeria not move to calm violent protests in the north within days knowing wat is at stake? Or u think igbos are not violent? 4. That globacom, gtbank and so many Nigerian-owned business would be under threat also if nigerians move against igbos? I dont really think that all igbo business in the entire north put together is worth as much as gtbank assets in south east.

Yes i agree that there would be violent protests and property siezing if Biafra comes. But it would be short lived because the two govts will work to bring it under a manageble level.

Wat seems to make igbos seem unserious about biafra is because igbo youths dont have arms and igbo politicians dont want biafra

Again, who will vote in the referendum? In 1967 they moved? No, they did not; instead, they robbed the Central bank in Benin state and intended to finance the war with stolen funds. Again, you guys (SE without SS) contribute little to the national purse, so there's no issue of sending your taxes to the Federal government as such. So you guys interested in Biafra can just move back there and not come out.

Brother, breakups are not as cordial as you suggest. As for international community, where were they in South Sudan. While there are non-igbos in Igboland, they are small compared to well established Igbos in other areas. Businesses would have to downsize, of course, as there would be a loss to the customer base. But ask yourself, if Igbos withdraw their Naira, where are they going to spend it? Convert it to Biafra notes? Keep deluding yourself that there are more Nigerian assets in Igboland than without. What are those assets? Buildings? You guys are a waste of time now; no coherent strategy. I'll tell you more: if the referendum were put to Nigerians, and votes are not rigged per usual, Igbos would be voted out enmasse. Most Nigerians are tired of the language we've been discussing on this thread so far. My Igbo friends, that I grew up with, did not have less rights than me in Lagos, neither were they disallowed from doing whatever they wanted within the confines of the law. We both suffered Military regimes the same. Yet, you guys keep shouting Biafra. What do you want? We (Nigerians) disgust you so much, yet you keep moving over. Again, Abegi! Talk sense.

You shouldn't be discussing politics, it's above your grade. Did Scottish people have to move from different parts of the UK back to Scotland when the Scottish referendum was held in 2014?

Did British people have to move from different parts of Europe back to Britain when Britain had referendum to leave Europe in 2016?

Did the people of Crimea have to move from different parts of Ukraine to the Crimea Region when they had referendum to leave Ukraine in 2015?

In all these recent events, nobody was asked go back home. The common sense here is that until a referendum is conducted and the outcome known, the country is still one and anyone can go where they like. It is only after referendum is conducted and a people vote to leave that the talk of going back home can start. Try to reason like an adult, this is the 21st century.

Big, bad, politics-discussing, wise man - Scotland is still part of the UK, in case Kanu did not tell you guys that. And as for Crimea, they joined Russia and did not become a nation. The African example is South Sudan; see how that referendum turned out? Again, you are dodging the question. Who will be allowed to vote in this referendum? You keep forgetting that Biafra would be negotiating from a position of weakness, as all parties would know they have all to lose. To enlighten your village mind, Britain never lost it's nationhood; it left a club. It will be like Nigeria leaving ECOWAS. If you are one of the bright biafrans that IPOB touts, my brother, Biafra has no future.
Re: The Igbo Nation Should Forget The Politics Of Nigeria And Focus On Independence by Nowenuse: 1:10am On Apr 13, 2018

Let me add my voice to my brothers.
1. We need to start a new movement like IPOB and Massob. However this movement will not be called Biafra. It will be called Igbo nationalism movement. It will not include non Igbos. (Not yet anyway)

2. We need to get big Igbo names on board. Ezekwesili, Soludo etc. They need to be the face of the movement.

3. The activities of the movement will include radio propaganda (without insulting anyone), tv propaganda, newspaper (propaganda), blogs and social media.

4. We need to unite Massob, IPoB, Zionist movement and other Biafran agitators to this movement. The united faction leaders need to be given visible roles in the new movement.

5. We need to (through the efforts of the movement leaders) first of all pressure the Ohaneze to pass a motion supporting referandum for Igbos in Nigeria. Then we pressure state houses of assemblies to also pass a motion supporting referandum for Igbos. Then we pressure governors to adopt these motions. Next would be to get members of the national assembly of Igbo origin to introduce a motion in both houses, calling for a referandum for Igbos. (I dont expect the motion to pass in the national assembly)

6. We would then push for the Igbo nation to be recognised within Nigeria as an authonomous region. And For a premeire to be elected for the Igbo nation and recognised by govt, and for the premirer to be the head of an Igbo regional govt. And for the Igbo regional govt be able to manage resouces found in Igboland and pay a percantage to FG And also for matters such as power and energy; local policing; census and statistic collection to be delegated to the premiere and the Igbo regional govt.

7. We would go like this for a long time as an autonomous entity within one Nigeria (like hong kong, qubec or scotland etc), and then finally seek full independence from Nigeria as The Republic of Igboland. We may make certain concessions to Nigeria (for a start). Such as continuing to use the Naira; joining ECOWAS; Signing trade agreements and Maritime agreements with Nigeria; allowing free movements of people across the border and allowing for dual citizenships for Nigerians living in Igboland and vice verser.

8. We would then revisit the Niger Delta region and seek aliance if they are willing.

When we get independence, we should do away with the 5 state structure and remove all sorts of classification. We should take Igbo as one nation...one tribe....one people. No 'he is from Nsuka or from abakaliki' talk.
We would also be a democracy and republic like our fore fathers.
And if the Niger Delta joins us, we should integrate them well into the politics of the nation and then probably change our name to Biafra or any other one.
Dalu nu.

This is perfect and surely the way to go.
It's a pity that only few Igbo seperatists think well like you do.
The majority prefer to insult and blame others daily for their problems and think it will get them Biafra.

From what i have read many pro zoo fellas still scare us that Biafra is impossible to get. to them i say ask from people who have experience.
when we told people that Jonathan would loose in 2015 they said it was impossible for a sitting president to loose in the zoo but it happened. Nobody believed Trump would win a day to election, not even obama. Also who would have thought that North korea's kim who did nuclear test in October will be open to denuclearization by March. Assad can be overthrown before the end of April, zoo can also break up before 2020. never say never. nothing is impossible especially when international pressure is involved.
