Three Manchester City players dominate the list while Liverpool's Salah, Manchester United's De Gea and Spurs Harry Kane completes the list

- However, the Egyptian forward has scored 29 English topflight goals in 31 games - four more than Kane, who has 25 after the same number of goals

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah tops the six man shortlist for this season’s Professional Footballers' Association Players' Player of the Year.

Other players in contention for the prestigious award are Manchester City trio of Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Leroy Sane.

While Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Manchester United’s shot stopper, David De Gea completes the list for this year’s edition.

The Egyptian forward joined the Reds last summer from AS Roma and he has been superb all season long for his Premier League outfit, netting 29 EPL goals in 31 league appearances this term.

Salah has also scored 9 Champions League goal, and his impressive performance led to his side ousting Manchester City from the European elite championship at the quarterfinal stage.

He has scored 39 goals and 11 assists in 44 games in all competitions in his first season at the Anfield.

Harry Kane is the second leading goal scorer on the chart with 25 goals after the same number of games as Salah.

The England international has also been impressive for the Wembley Stadium outfit this term - helping them to rank among the top four teams while they aim for another UCL

The 32-year-old midfielder has played lesser games this season - 37 matches and has scored 9 goals with 14 assists.

He is third on the assist log in the Premier League behind two of his teammates, De Bruyne and Sane - who have created 15 and 12 assists respectively.

Last on the list is Manchester United most important player, David De Gea.

The Real Madrid target has kept 20 clean sheets in 39 appearances for the Red Devils this season.
He is one of the reasons the Red Devils' season hasn't gone totally wrong with impressive performances in all the games he has played.

The winner of the award will be announced at a ceremony at London's Grosvenor House on 22 April after voting must have been concluded.

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante won the 2016-17 player of the year award, while Tottenham's Dele Alli was voted best young player for the second season in a row.

Of course De Bruyne is equally good but as it stands, nothing will/can take it out of Salah's hands except injury which I doubt it.

One of the reasons why I'm rooting for Salah is because De Bruyne, Silva and Sane votes will be shared among Man City faithfuls.
