Yesterday, there was a mild drama as thousands of followers of Tijjaniya Islamic sect celebrated Maulud of Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass, the birth of Prophet Muhammed in Abuja… A young man climbed the street light along with others to touch the face of their leader, Sheik Inyass who allegedly appeared during the Maulud celebration.

Also, the sect members, who came from all parts of the north literally took over the major streets in the Central Business District as they parked their vehicles indiscriminately on the roads and set up camps right on the expressways.

The Muslim faithful were said to have celebrated the Maulud at the National Mosque on Friday, but motorists and residents had to contend with serious discomfort as the visitors shut down the major roads and streets around the mosque.

I surely hope the OP is not trying to mix up Inyass and the Holy Prophet in the above statement cos they are not the same. Inyass is the guy from Senegal that some people will be committing shrik by plastering his pictures everywhere and claiming to be use it for protection. And even going to the extreme of bowing down to his picture which could be likened to the Highest form of shrik.

And even if they claim to be celebrating the birth of the Holy Prophet its still not permitted as we never ever read it from the Hadith, Sahaba or the prominent four imams doing it.

Hence people should kindly desist from it... We have neither completed the obligatory duty nor sunnah but people be jumping on the band wagon of innovative duties...SMH.

May Allah guide us aright and count us among the successful ones both in this life and the hereafter...Amin

Foolishness!!! The holy prophet(saw) never celebrated his birthday and didn't ask anybody to celebrate his birthday. Abubakar(as), umar(as), uthman(as), aliyu(as) never celebrated his birthday, even the tabi'uns never celebrated prophet Muhammad (saw) birthdays. Smh

Anyway Allah(swt) knows best but going out of the sunnah of rasool is like disrespecting him. May Allah(swt) guide us right.

Africans and religion ehn. Even the prophet never for once celebrated his birthday. Even the main people that brought the religion to us sef no dey celebrate am. But Africans especially Nigerians will go haywire to celebrate. We will never go forward if we put religion first on our front burner.
