That's because at independence the pool of educated people to lead Nigeria was smaller than it is now.
Are u agreeing to the fact that Sowore is too young to become a president? We had better woke up and collect our future and that of our future generations from these old thieves. As youths, we can fight it out with Sowore if he messes up because he can understand our pains as young people. These old thieves still sees Nigeria from the eyes of the 70s,80s that is why they see us as fools. I refuse to be a fool. I am going with a young Nigerian president this time.

Abokii. Are you sure he knew what he was doing?
Ask about Tafawa speech on the floor of the UNO General Assembly of Oct.7th 1960, and you would be told he was the Golden Voice Of Africa

And the ibos had to kill him

The 'ibos' did not kill him....Ifeajuiana, and company (which included at least two Yoruba guys) did.

Plus Ifeajuana and Nzeogwu were from minority, Igbo speaking tribes domicilled in what is now Delta State. Techincally speaking, they were not Igbo.

Have you heard this man speak. He was the most eloquent man to come out of this country.

If this man was our president today, trust me, you would be proud.

When he spoke, western leaders listened with rapt attention.

Just go to YouTube and see one of his videos.

Is that what you're concerned with? How he spoke - how about what he did? How 'western leaders' listened?

How about what he did to develop the country? Especially the north?

Being 'young' does not mean he has the capacity, ability, skill, competence and knowledge to run this country. I will not sacrifice competence, on the altar of youthfulness. Sorry, Sowore will not get my vote!

Well, I think young people should take the bull by the horns...I was just explaining why Nigeria's independence leaders were young.

There are many tribes scattered around the major tribes that speak the same language, but technically speaking cheesy are distinct people.

Example...the Ikwerre of Rivers state. (If you want two Ikwerre people to fight, just get them to discuss whether they are Igbo or not...).

I once worked under a guy who came from the general area that Nzeogwu came from. Had an Igbo sounding name, spoke the lingo...but did not identify as Igbo

That guy who worked as your boss, was only one person out of many. sad Several people from his axis identify as Igbo. Many Ikwerre people also believe they are Igbo, even if a few do not. Go to Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu's towns today in Delta, and tell them they are not Igbo, and see if they would not laugh you to scorn. There have been several arguments about this on NL.

How will he perform when he knows there is no other term after this (if we mistakenly make him president again)?

I am not asking u to vote for him. He is certainly getting mine because I had seen him portray the guts that most youths of our days won't dare to. I have seen him take on the president, Senate president, members of both houses of assembly, past leaders of this country without fear. I think it's what we need for now, someone with courage to tell the world that u are a thief and proof it and then prosecute the thief if he has the power. Jonathan was competent, buhari is too to u I guess when we voted them? There are so much to learn on the seat of power only if u really want to make a change. Donald Trump isnt competent but was elected the American president. American economy has never been this good for decades and top American companies that left for China are coming back home and unemployment rate is drastically decreasing. He might be controversial but he is really what Americans need for the now to get better cos he has got the will to match his words. I see something similar in Sowore but not exactly the same as Trump though.

Balewa was killed by military supporters of Awolowo. These guys should have dropped their uniforms, joined Awolowo's party, campaigned for his release from prison where he was jailed for coup plotting and campaigned for him in election.

We are talking of Ademoyega, Nzeogwu and Ifeajuna.

America can afford to elect the likes of Trump, because they have strong institutions that have been running for years, that can effectively checkmate the excesses of a poor leader. Does Nigeria have that?

Even Carl Riccadonna, Chief U.S. Economist for Bloomberg Economics, claims that "the American economy is strengthening of its own merit,” and outgoing Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen was the one who put the U.S. firmly on the path to being great again. Some economic indices have actually worsened under Trump, while a few have strengthened. Those that were strengthened, did so because they were an offshoot of Obama's policies that were continued. undecided

Sowore may be a good voice for the opposition, but that does not necessarily mean he is a competent leader. sad The best critics never make the best leaders. Go and check. Oshiomole was a fire-brand labour leader, who was a thorn in the flesh of different military leaders. The minute he got into power as Governor of Edo State, what happened? He became one of those who worked actively against the interest of unionised labour, and could not even improve the lot of the workers in his state.

Guy, forget about Sowore's critical stand. He has not put forth any ideology or blueprint to show he can govern this nation effectively, or turn its fortunes around. undecided

Do your research. They planned to make Awolowo Prime Minister, taking Balewa's seat and giving him. Don't pretend you don't know. This issue has been over flogged in Nairaland.

He speaks pure British English as a matter of fact the queen's English. U probably go to youtube and download his videos. This is the only northern leader of those days that I still respect.
