A youth group of the SouthSouth, Nigeria Youth Project (SouthSouth zone) has commended former National Chairman of opposition Peoples Democratic Party for his loyalty and commitment to the cause of the party and Nigeria.

The youth body in a statement signed by its SouthSouth Zonal Coordinator, Hon. Inioribo Tamunotonye, saluted the former Kaduna state Governor for displaying such rare trait.

The group made the statement in reaction to the comment credited to former military president, retired General Ibrahim Babangida, when he played host of members of PDP National Working Committee led by Prince Uche Secondus at his residence in Minna.

The ex-military President had commended the loyalty of some party chieftains during the meeting.

The group's statement reads;

"We members of Nigeria Youth Project from the six states of SouthSouth geopolitical zone, welcome and receive the accolades to loyal members of Peoples Democratic Party by elder statesman and former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida with great relief.

After proper analysis, we believe that His Excellency, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, the immediate past National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party as the man that fits the bill as the only senior chieftain of the PDP whose loyalty to the party over the years has been consistent and unquestioned.

It is truism that in Nigeria's political environment it is rare to find a political figure that will stay loyal to the cause of his party even at the most challenging period. It is amazing that despite the loss of his senatorial seat in 2015 and the dramatics and troubles caused by former acting National Chairman of PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, Senator Makarfi remained true to the PDP and conducted himself in manner that put PDP at advantage.

It is due to the maturity and display of Senator Makarfi that the candidate of PDP, Senator Ademola Adeleke could dance his way into the red chamber.

Senator Makarfi stand ahead of his peers when it comes to loyalty to the party and the country, including to every governments of the party.

As youths, we believe that such rare trait is worthy of emulation and it has further deepened our resolve to work with our peers across the other 5 geopolitical zones that makes up the country to see that Senator Makarfi bow to the call of Nigerians to present himself to lead our country from the perilous situation that the present administration has put us.

We are strongly convinced that with the intelligence, charisma, antecedents and leadership of Senator Makarfi, Nigeria will experience a great turnaround.
