Senate Resumes Plenary With New Mace After Thugs Attack by Ebullience(m): 1:09pm On Apr 18, 2018 |
The Senate has resumed plenary barely an hour after armed thugs stormed the National Assembly and carted away the mace. The new mace in the chamber is smaller in size and more coloured than that of the bigger one which was catred away. The plenary which was disrupted at about 11.30am resumed by 12.10pm. Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu has assured lawmakers that the NASS will deal wit the situation fully, warning the attackers not to take democracy for granted. Meanwhile, The Senate has described the attack on the National Assembly and the carting away of the mace by thugs ash act of treason cannot be tolerated. Senate Spokesman, Sabi Abdullahi stated this in a statement. “Today, some hoodlums led by suspended Senator, Ovie Omo-Agege, walked into the Senate plenary and seized the symbol of authority of the Upper Legislative Chamber, the mace. “This action is an act of treason, as it is an attempt to overthrow a branch of the Federal Government of Nigeria by force, and it must be treated as such. All Security agencies must stand on the side of due process and immediately mobilize their personnel to retrieve the mace and apprehend the mastermind and the perpetrators of this act. “This action is also an affront on the legislature, and the Leadership of the House has come to express their support against this action. “The Senate is now in an Executive session. “An updated statement will be released immediately after the closed door session. https://leadership.ng/2018/04/18/senate-resumes-plenary-with-new-mace-after-thugs-attack-nass/ 4 Likes 2 Shares

Who's afraid of impeachment So 'some thugs' with 'useful idiotic' Senator Omo-Agege just strolled into the NASS complex bullied their way into the senate chamber cause commotions / distractions and then walked out with the mace just like that? What happened to the security operatives attached to the NASS? They disappeared into thin air? Nigerians aren't fools cos this is likely a calculated move from ogas at the top. 44 Likes 1 Share |

Ebullience:The fact that he has to emphasize the above bolded tells me this issue is as fishy as phurk! It's beyond merely ovie omo-agege striking back, he's also likely a tool of an APC/PMB Cabals. This charade will soon fizzle out with no consequences like all other ones before it because the guy will be untouchable like Kyari, Babachir, Magu etc This present administration is a joke on many fronts. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

muykem: What if you were told the one taken by the hoodlum was the fake one? That serves the suspended senator right...!!! Nice move, always have a backup plan while you deal decisively with the intruders. Am sure some of us were too young to remember the Chuba Okadigbo mace saga 11 Likes |

He is a disgrace to the entire urhobo nation and Niger delta in general. He already knows he can't win again so he try to remain on buhari good book for the purpose of political appointment next year. Since no hope for him in nexus election because PDP will clear everywhere including his ward ìn next year's elections in Delta State. But that's foolishness of the highest level 5 Likes |

First of all, suspended Sen. Omo-agege has denied his involvement in the matter. Yes, the thugs followed him in but while they were displaying thuggery and carting the Mace away, he was calmly seated on his seat. He didn't lead them out as this report suggests. Secondly, I'm not turning a blind eye on the suspended senator's involvement but I think we should focus more on how the hoodlums got into the national assembly, made so much noise, injured a woman and seized the Mace without the interference of security operatives. I mean, this is the top 'law making' building in the country yet no police/army could stop them going in or out. Why? If the National Assembly can be so easily breached, where is safe in this country mbok? 22 Likes 2 Shares

I think after the Chuba Okadigbo saga, the senate now has two mace, one locked up somewhere in case the main mace is snatched. If not, there is no plenary without a mace even if it takes weeks. 4 Likes |
