And finally, God makes it 4/4. My admission season is OVER!!! I return all the glory to Him. But, please I need advice now. Since this is a PhD offer in General Maths, it looks as if PhD is more convincing to the VO but then UIUC (Master's) is ranked higher than UTA. Please I need possible advice from gurus in the house

Cc bigfrancis, Twoods, Lagosismyhome, imperioux, femi312, paulbets, scholastica and other big guns...abeg
Brotherly...
Congratulations on this new offer.
You have topped it 10/10.
I sincerely will advise you to stick with UIUC.

Please i am just confused here.
I have just applied for an MBA program even though i am in the science field. I actually chose this course because i didn't have enough time to prepare for GRE as this doesn't require one. From what I've been reading, the embassy interview isn't easy at all. I am becoming tensed about this now. I know i have to prepare well for the interview to convince the VO why i chose MBA and the school but won't i be at a disadvantage because of no GRE or TOELF?

Please who can help with US immigration laws information? How easy is to stay back iin the US?

Wilbur Wright college
Malcolm X
Harry s Truman college
Can anyone suggest a low tuition Community college with less requirements?

I have two on my list but they both required that I evaluate my certificate, submit Health and Clinical care documents, including POF documents before admission is offered.

I would prefer schools that only need my

SAT
WAEC
HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT
SOP.

I would really appreciate any suggestion.

Thanks[/quote]

1. Calm down. Applying to MBA from any background whether science or performing arts is not an issue at all. People do it all the time, the VO is not going to have a problem with this so, stop worrying. However, you have to say WHY you did this if asked. The reason you gave here, despite being genuine and truthful, could be interpreted as being a lazy student who was only finding the easy way out. Better option would have been going for an MBA because you're more interested in being an entrepreneur and a business degree would complement what you already have as a science foundation. Think of better examples, please.

2. The embassy interview is quite easy, and this depends on how you define the term "easy". Once you understand WHY an interview is needed and what's expected of you, it becomes easier. That's why I always stress the word "prepare".

3. One step at a time. Immigration laws are too broad. I don't think you should be worrying about that right now. Having an immigrant intent is a reason for denial and a VO is trained to sniff that from 7000 miles away.

Feel free to ask more questions if you're still confused. Have a great day. wink

More private chat requests cry

Does kik work in Nigeria? If yes, we can chat there. Someone should try downloading the application "Kik". Let me know if it works, then we'll chat there.

Dont give much room for private chats.
In as much their will be genuine questions some might want to ask privately, some will start begging/borrow money.
Some will market scamming to you.

Please gurus in the House, I still need ur assistance in this tresh about my case.
"What has changed" I need more clue on how to handle the question this time and what it actually implies.

Thanks for the response I have received earlier.
God bless us all.

In your case, I think better preparation is what you need. I don't know which page but @lagosismyhome put up a list of past interview transcripts you can read and learn from. Read thoroughly and practice more until you are confident enough to answer basic questions that show your future plans in life and how getting this degree would help you achieve those goals.

Then, if asked "what has changed about your application", tell them what has changed. Don't say "nothing" or give answers that suggest the previous VOs made mistakes or didn't give you enough time, etc. You can simply say "in my previous interviews, I wasn't able to express how my plans to go for graduate studies would help me achieve my future goals".

9 out of 10 times, the interviewer's next question would be for you to show them how you have tried to fix this and this is where your preparation should come in... Perform better. Prove that you're a worthy student and you should be fine.

Please, prepare! Don't book that interview until you have improved.

Have a nice day. smiley

Hahaha. Thanks for the advice. While there are people who could/would do this, I still like to give everyone the benefit of doubt. I try not to punish anyone for the sins of others. Of 100 sheep, 99 could be bad but 1 good sheep shouldn't suffer because of the behavior of the 99.

That being said, my "ignore/block" game is on a level that's yet to be matched lol. I won't have my time wasted.

Good morning everyone, I migrated from Canadian student visa thread on here after denial and ever since I have been a silent follower. I had my interview today at Lagos embassy for 6:30 but unfortunately i was delayed. Here goes my transcript below for your input because i plan to re-apply soon.

Me: Good morning
Vo: no reply (passport and I20)
Vo: Where will you be going in the USA
Me: Lincoln university at Oakland in California
Vo: Where will you be staying
Me: Lincoln offered me a list of hostels so I could choose my preference once I get the visa
Vo: I meant what will you be studying (don’t know how I didn’t hear her)
Me: Oh, sorry. I will be studying International business
Vo: What’s your highest form of certification
Me: Bsc
Vo: What course?
Me: Accounting
Vo: So why the change to international business
Me: it’s not really a change, there’s no business without accounting and no accounting without business. I’m presently employed by my mums company that deals with import and export of fabrics and home decoration. So this course will enable me become certified professionally when it’s time to relieve her off her duties
Vo: keeps typing for long, how many schools did u apply to?
Me: Just one
Vo: Why?
Me: When I spoke to my cousin and best friend about my plans of going for masters, they referred Lincoln to me with great testimonials. However I realised that Lincoln offers me all the courses needed for the program which aligns well with my career goals so I narrowed my search to Lincoln only
Vo: Did you apply to any other school outside the USA!
Me: No
Vo: I mean outside the USA (looking to confirm from her system)
Me: Oh, yes. (Thinking maybe she saw something about Canada or so) I guess I fell for psychology here
Vo: What country/ school
Me: Canada/Seneca college. Before I could say it was 2017
Vo: cuts in...Have you travelled outside Nigeria before?
Me:Yes
Vo: To?
Me: Uk
Vo: Are you married?
Me: No
Vo: Engaged?
Me: No
Vo: who is sponsoring your education?
Me: My mum
Vo: Naso she just dey talk gibberish...I’m sorry you do not meet the requirements blabla (handed me blue paper).
I had my hands in my mouth.. I was confident but I don’t know what went wrong, I was the first to be interviewed by a black non smiling big woman
you are making me scared with all this write up. Your response to those questions were fantastic. May be because you lied that you have never applied to any other school apart from this present one. You should have even asked her what requirement ma'am? Pls what does the 120 she made mention of mean?

Part 13? Lol! Just like yesterday, that's how 2 years flew by o. This time yesterday, I was waiting for them schools to give me admission, now now I'm already completing my studies and planning to head home. It's been a fun experience.

To those who sent me PMs, I don't have access to that email anymore. I'll probably just create a new account.

How y'all doing?
Head home? Naija I guess?

I studied Arts for undergraduate and presently working as a customer care representative. I applied to Oklahoma State University to study International Studies.
