Policeman Arrested For Penetrating Woman With Fingers At Medina Estate Gbagada Lagos Remanded In Prison

A court in Yaba Lagos on Wednesday Court in Lagos, yesterday remanded a policeman, Sylvester Shamaki, following his arraignment for sexual assault.

29-year-old Shamaki allegedly fingered a 22-year-old woman.

He was arraigned on one-count charge of sexual assault before Mrs O.J. Oghere.

Prosecuting Sergeant Modupe Olaluwoye told the court that Shamaki committed the offence at about 6:30pm on March 14, at 9, Adebisi Tolani Street, Medina Estate, Gbagada, Lagos.


Olaluwoye said the defendant assaulted the complainant (name withheld) by forcing himself on her and penetrating her with his fingers.

The offence contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Shamaki pleaded not guilty.


Magistrate Oghere remanded him in prison and ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice. She adjourned till May 26.

He must have been out of favour with his people, or the girl has some powerful people behind her, for the police to prosecute a policeman for a crime against a citizen. Dem for turn the case around, throw the girl into cell and molest her multiple times. The Nigerian police will need TB Joshua to be cleaned up.
