Hello everyone,

Newbie here. Thanks in advance for all your help.
I am just about to begin this entire process. I intend to use my NYSC alone as my job experience. I did my NYSC at the Lagos State Ministry of Environment. I know it may be hard to get a reference letter from them so I just wanted to find out if anyone has done something similar (did NYSC at a ministry), and if they were able to get a reference letter in the required format.

Any help will be immensely appreciated.

Thank you!

Evaluate just your PhD. That's all you need to do for now.

If you feel like, you could also evaluate your other certificates, as it could get to a point in the future (perhaps after landing) where you may need them.

Thanks a lot. Will it cost extra charge if I evaluate two certificates from the same school at same time?

No, it won't cost extra charges with WES. But of course it'll cost extra charges with getting transcripts and mailing same. It may also cost extra time with having to wait for school to send transcript (AND time==money, if [you care]).

Yes, you can use your NYSC alone as job experience. A lot of people here have done that, e.g. GlitteringStar. About getting the reference letter from the Lagos MOE, I have zero knowledge.

Try to make enquiries first on how easy or hard it is to get reference letters from that specific ministry.

This is a fantastic thread!

I decided to join #TeamCanadaHopefuls and have been spending all my spare time going through the thread(s).

Special thanks to the people who started this. Glitteringstar... you are really a star! Thanks for all the links and summaries. They have been so helpful.

So far,
IELTS has been dusted! Got my result last Friday and it was LRSW 9/9/8.5/8.

ECA is in progress.

I am trying to gather documents so I'm ready when I get ITA.

1. PCC

I will need for Nigeria and UK. For those in Abuja how did you go about it? (Seems like a large number of the folks here are based in Lagos). I saw the online process and it seems straightforward in theory...not sure if it is, in reality.

2. Reference letter (Employer)
For those who work in very big corporations with plenty bureaucracy how did you surmount this? Can I get a letter from HR in my subsidiary or does it have to come from the Headquarters? I read that it can be addressed "To whom it may concern" rather than specifically to "CIC"

3. Proof of Funds

About 70% of my POF is in my UK account.
The bank won't send a reference letter and I can't travel to apply for one. I did see where someone's naija bank didn't give a reference letter but the person was able to explain this.

4. Passport

My international passport will expire in October but I am already in the process of getting a new one to be on the safe side. This one that we are not sure of passport booklet availability.

I will definitely keep the house informed as I go along.

To be honest, the reason I never took this serious was because I wasn't sure I wanted to leave the certainty I have in Nigeria to the uncertainty of starting a new life abroad. I do have a great career here and I am still wondering how I am leaving all that. I am very aware that life in Canada (like every where else) is not a bed of roses and one really needs to think critically about the future and all.

Getting to Canada is one thing, thriving there is another.

I wish all of us here the best in this quest for a "better" life.

Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for all the information and guidance!

I got my ITA on the 11th of April, 2018!

That was 2 days after my birthday and I lost 5 points from getting older.

I've been following all the posts here and quietly following the tips because I didn't want to raise my hopes too high but God has been faithful!

God bless you all!

We shall all get there!

Please continue to have patience with us and give us guidance.

Is there any support group for people prepping their PPR application?
Are u submitting regardless?

Did anybody come across an agent based in Abeokuta inviting people to come and apply for EE, promising them that he has many slots in Manitoba PNP? They even went as far as promising people that they will pay the flight, accommodation, visa fees and other associated fees because they are a Canadian Visa Agent. The beneficiary will only pay back when he/she gets to Manitoba. Could this be real house? I intentionally held back their name and a snapshot of their flyer to avoid being banned here in the name of advertisement.
Beware! That sounds more like human traffickers. It's one of their gimmicks. The entire EE process is straightforward only if people are ready to research and read.

Immigration consultants or agents must be members of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council to represent anyone for the sake of immigration to Canada. If you can not find their name on the list at this official link for registered Immigration consultants in Canada, they are fakes - http://secure.iccrc-crcic.ca/search-new/EN

Note that it is an offense punishable by Canadian law for anyone to provide Canadian immigration services for a fee or other consideration if they are not regulated by ICCRC, a Canadian law society, or the Chambre des notaires du Québec. Please 'shine your eyes'.

Thanks Cochtrane

I really appreciate this...

I am already thinking and doing a lot of research towards the big move (even though I never even enter the EE pool...lol). Looking at what career and job options i may have and how to position my self favourably so I can hit the ground running.

This journey is definitely not a sprint... it is a marathon!

Thanks again

Thanks so much

Diploma in Accounting and Business (F1-F3). Evaluated by Wes as completion of a college level certificate (1 yr )
Someone I know got this evaluated in February.

Hi @Pikipiki, can you tell us which certificate you used to achieve this ACCA 1 year college certificate?
I am guessing this is the Diploma in Accounting and Business (F1-F3 Exams)
Just for the sake of those who are still looking at obtaining additional certificates

I wish I can flog you first before providing you with an answer.
C'mon will you update that profile before I open my eyes? On a serious note though, you really don't need to wait for any length of time before you show POF acquired from sale of assets.
So long as you are able to show proof of previous ownership and sales transaction, you are good to go. You kuku still have 90 days post ITA to sort other documentation waka. Congrats on your IELTS.

Hi please regarding proof of funds, if the money gets transferred to my account from a friend how long should the money stay before I submit a bank statement? Considering the fact that my previous account balance have been way less than the requested amount.
