4rm information obtained 4rm by-standers{eye witness account},d inferno was caused by a woman{a landlady there} who deals on {black market} kerosene,on ds fateful day,her suppliers{allegedly bunkerers} supplied her over 500ltrs of adulterated kerosene which she,out of suspicion,tested by pouring it on ground & ignited. True 2 her suspicion, voom!!!,it caught fire & spontaneously spread 2 d already parked jerrycans,as d cans were,one after d other,burst by d raging inferno,d liquid in them formed a pool of fire & flowed downwards through Total filling station fence 2 d adjoining gutter by d ever busy Onitsha/Owerri rd. That was how 2 two-storey buildings wt shops as well as residents,1 one-storey plaza & batchers were razed by fire. By dint of luck,d fire didn't extend 2 Total filling station & luckily again,no life was lost. D only casualty would've bn a blind,bedridden old woman who was trapped on d 2nd floor of one of d buildings but was thrown down & cut by d gallant youths & rushed 2 Our Lady of Lourdes hospital Ihiala by d Police where she was revived. Worthy of note: but 4 gallantry of d selfless youths & a water tanker operator who held sway till d arrival of fire service men 4rm Nnewi,d fire would've spread farther. God bless them & save us all. |
