Thank you for your prompt response. My school doesn't know my tuition for one yr. This is how my program is structured: The expected length of studies provided is minimum of 3-terms and maximum of 5-terms for the MENG program. We are expected to do 8-courses for the entire program. meaning you can register for 3, 3,2 courses and conclude the program in 1-yr or you do 2,2,2,2 and complete it in 4-semesters(1-year and 1-semester) and the total fees for the entire program is 27,500 for the 8-graduate courses. So this makes it difficult to determine the fees for the first yr because my plans is to do 4-semesters (16-months). Secondly, the current CBN policy on forex only allows a student a maximum of $15,000 per Semester which is what I have paid already(Maximum limit per term reached). Please advise I am really confused! |
The best way to tackle is to pay one full year tuition and make sure money in investment is liquidated and available in immediately exportable forms. If you do t want to liquidate, paying one year full tuition would do. Thank you for your prompt response. My school doesn't know my tuition for one yr. This is how my program is structured: The expected length of studies provided is minimum of 3-terms and maximum of 5-terms for the MENG program. Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by KlausMike(m): 8:33am On May 03, 2018 |
jnyuwa02: Thank you bro. The issue really is not about MBA being expensive, I have already paid CAD3000 as an initial deposit which I am willing to forego. I had tried severally to gain admission to study a masters in computer science but failed. I guess the reason was because my first degree was in electrical and electronics and I graduated 2009. I then decided to apply for MBA since I had 7 years of working experience with business solutions and applications. So MBA was more of a second thought. My main aim is to change careers to software development. I recently received an email saying my application had been successful at UBC to study an accelerated Bachelor's in computer science. I plan to pursue a masters in computer science immediately afterwards. |

KlausMike: Congrats, create an online account with CIC and enact that change in school. You will be ready to roll. If an office at point of entry asks why you used MBA to get visa, tell him the school you changed to admission came late and after much deliberation, you decided in favor of UBC. 1 Like |

jnyuwa02: Boss! The bolded is the best for Klausmike. Since he is trying to switch from MBA to an accelerated bachelor's degree. A degree that is way lower to his previous intended program, it's better he gets into Canada first before switching. My advise! 2 Likes |

Frankrobbn1: That too would work. Even before he gets to Canada, depending on which one he is more comfortable with. You really don’t have much to justify and might not even get a question at point of entry. |

jnyuwa02: Everything you stated above applies to everyone applying for study permit. Starting from showing good home ties to good job prospects. It all has to do with putting up a very good application. I feel there is no need to make him feel that his/her chances are slim because of the loan. How many people can afford to pay 80k CAD without a loan? Like every other applicant, he/she should put up a good application and the chances of getting approved is same as every other person on this journey. People submit good applications and get rejected while some others submit weak applications (plus lies) and get approved. 2 Likes |

Newman1010: Chances are not and can never be the same. A loan on one’s application are an outlier and not a good thing with the Canadians. He has to do significantly more than others. People who present a weak application and succeed through are just lucky. A person with loan has to do much more than the average person to succeed. I pitch on applications here based on evidence not luck. Anything tangent on luck is beyond the purview of my analysis. I can only make a call on what I see. It’s my honest advice to take or leave. I hold no monopoly on what can be. He should try. You are right there can only be two answers yes or no. Best wishes. 1 Like |

jnyuwa02: @ the highlighted statement, kindly confirm where you got that information from. Till then, @hilaryxoxo, kindly ensure that you put up a good application. Be clear on your purpose of visit, ties to home country, assets if you have any, your parents property can help. Also ensure your previous study/ current job is in line with the MFIN program, explain all gaps, share your travel history, share your after study plan and show proof that the loan can be paid with what you intend to do in Nigeria. Lastly pray, pray and continue to pray Come back here in two months to share your testimony. 4 Likes |

It would be advisable to put 27.5k as the total available for your studies since you are uncertain how much time and fees involved yearly. Concentrate then in showing you have the 27.5k in your account. Since 15k is the maximum through Forex, I will advice you look for alternative source in paying up the 27.5k required. If possible. There are private citizens who would do it for you at black market rate. This I am sure will tackle previous denial on insufficient funds. Walking past that, they can go ahead and deny you on other grounds. So make sure to cover all grounds. You need to justify why you cannot study in Nigeria and have decided to go the difficult and expensive route of a foreign education. CIC has started searching by itself the availability of these courses in NIgeria and not simply what people say in their SOP. You are better off saying other things that apply to you, rather than saying these courses are not available or well taught in Nigeria. You need to cover your grounds on ties and explicate the factors that would induce your return to Nigeria. Best! |

Hello everyone. Please is it a MUST that medicals must be done before you get your TRV? I applied less than 2weeks already and i chose to wait till i'm requested to do the medicals, even though it may take longer, but really, i'm not in a rush. I believe there's still time. Have there been exemptions? I just returned from Canada in March. Could that help too? I also read someone's post of not hearing anything after 9weeks of application. These delays still happen or there could be a reason. I'm already thinking two weeks is too long sef without hearing anything.LOL Maybe because i got my visiting visa in 2weeks. Please your responses would be appreciated. May God answer the desires of our hearts according to HIS will. 1 Like |

edosunday1: Hello @edosunday1, I also have a suggestion for you. I think its best to satisfy the VO's concern regarding the source of funds. Since you state that the funds were liquidated from money invested in treasury bills and fixed deposit, why not get the portfolio statement from your bank and a letter of reference for the liquidated funds. ( The bank will willingly give this to you). This will go a long way in proofing the source of funds. In my own case, ( even though I am yet to submit), i am not liquidating my investments yet, but I have a letter from the bank with the details of my investment and also stating that it can be liquidated at any time by me. I also have a bank reference letter to back this up. This should help. Goingforward. 1 Like |
