Hello thebigkendo, I'm back. I have gone through my Excel sheet and will list the services performed without receipt issuance and their dates.

16-May-2017 Vehicle Scanning service N6000 (Home Service)

18-May-2017 Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2 Replacement N10000 (service fee inclusive)

14-Nov-2017 Parasitic Battery Drain Diagnosis N12000 (Parasitic drain continued)

4-Dec-2017 Overheating Diagnosis N7000 (Affected by the charging system he fixed)

The above does not include some small amount I provided as tips for return jobs (As a little compensation for their time) which I didn't track...

Attached are the receipts in my possession

Since u can't collect the money paid to him without any service rendered, at least u can collect back the numerous tips you gave him.

Let us know how much all the tips amounted to, so we can start the #NoTipsForMayor movement

This receipt thing is just somehow. So you spent all this amount to fix or purported fix that car?

I'm more concerned about the overheating thing, and parasitic drain charges.

I'm trying to draw a correlation between a battery drain, and overheating situation.

So, are you saying the other mechanic did fixed the issues with the car, without confirming the car was overheating when you brought it to him?

I think we'd still have to wait for @mayor to respond to all these allegations.

Bro! Try to read the opening post and go through the thread as well. Car never overheated in the first place. It was the charging system he fixed that was supplying 16 to 18 volts at idle that was messing up with the guages and electricals. Making us believe that the car was overheating. The Parasitic drain was also coming from the alternator, which I paid him to fix. He removed my faulty after market alarm, thinking it was the culprit behind the parasitic drain (But it wasn't). He kept my car in his workshop for 5 days and claimed he had resolved the issue, only for me to discover subsequently that the drain continued. By that time, he had sent me away from his workshop like a dog (I thank God he did)...No refunds, no apologies for a grace period of 4 months, which I gave to him...

Broh, the tips were provided in good faith as I wasn't forced to provide them. Some even involved paying for drinks for the entire staff...I decided not to track them as I did that out of empathy...

oooooh Mr digimon... sorry digitech. I understand that u spent a lot of money without value... guess what?

so have I and a lot of us here... 4gt that crap that anybody that I give money.... bla bla bla... I'll make sure he pays.... not every time broda.

so he serviced ur injector/alternator/radiator with ULTRASONIC bath heck me I want me some ultrasound abi ultrasonic bath he can even service my compressor with it sef I don't mind.

I'm sure u all have learnt valuable lessons from this experience
.... that's more than enough to me.
for u, u have learnt that u need to treat ur car like ur wife cos they both have the ability to kill u; instantly! know ur car very well, read manuals and get technical. before u go to a mechanic, get some or all of the technical details first. else u come in a Porsche cayenne and leave with a horse.
if u took ur wife in for surgery and when u go to pick her u meet someone else won't u know? get that intimate with ur car.... and remember not everyone that wears overall is a technician, some are lazy damn quack mechanics capable of absolutely nothing other than pressing spoil button. test every spirit likewise test every mechanic.... every mechanic that doesn't preach or emphasize on the need for thorough diagnosis before treatment, isn't there in MY name!

mayor has also learnt to choose his customers wisely, and also to say no to some jobs... I'm sure cos he's damn smart. I'm sure Gazuzz learnt this the hard way.

In response to your questions

Did he come to do scan at home? Yes he did...

Did he change 02 sensors? Yes he did (the one under the vehicle )

The 12k parasitic drain thingy was a payment for his time and does not include purchase of an alternator. He actually billed me 25K because he claimed he spent time diagnosing my car for the parasitic drain. He held my car for 5 days and claimed he dropped other jobs for mine. I beat the price from 25K to 12k with serious argument ooh...

Diagnosing the overheating. He didn't know that the overcharging system he fix was bleeping the guages up. Car never overheated. The cluster guages were misleading as a result of the excess voltages going into them. Instead I paid him money for his incompetence and inefficiency...

Bro, there is nothing I can do but review his services and warn others...

Funny response but wise words my brother...It's been a really painful, nasty experience for me...Bitter lessons learnt as well. I hope you have a successful ultrasonic big dump (I wonder what you ate last night) and bath as you purported...lmao

Hmmm. If we aren't getting any response from mayor, and some folks are already coming up to concur on what their experiences had being, then, there must be something going on here.

Just my opinion though, from what the OP, and some folks have being saying.

I initially didn't want to say anything so it doesn't look like one is "badmouthing" another person`s business, but on a second thought I feel its better to state the facts to serve as a guide to others. While I will not classify Mayor as a "kazeem", the obvious truth is that, from my experience he may not be as good as he sounds here. He overcharges, has a very very poor customer relation skill and allows his ego to get a better part of him during business transactions making it look like he is doing you a favor. The high cost incurred did not justify the end-result in anyway even though it was more of a preventive maintenance check.
My advise to him is that he should improve on how he interacts with his client and should have the patience to explain things without sounding like the other person is a dullard. I hope he sees this as a feedback which he can use to improve his business without taking offence.

It's better to speak out so others can know and not fall victim. I currently have two vehicles I need to work on but my previous experience is making me reluctant to try a NL auto engineer again. The ones that have been certified as competent via people's testimonies here are super busy. How I wish these guys can work on their customer relation skill as you rightly observed

We don't rebuild engines because

1. We can remove and replace the current engine in a day, maximum 2 days. You cannot rebuild an engine in that time. We want fast money, not money that takes too much time to make

2. We do not want liability....pass on the liability if the tokunbo engine fails to the part seller...but we can claim the workmanship a second time to install yet another engine if the previous tokunbo was not fit for purpose

3. The parts to rebuild the engine have to be sourced from overseas, it will take time and our clients are not willing to wait or we have schooled them to believe that tokunbo engines are just as good if not better

4. Doing so is both a science and an art, not everyone is a master at both, and we don't feel the need to specialize or become master engine rebuilders, we don't believe that is where the money in this business lies and what is more, we have not invested in the education to make us great at this task

5. It is a messy job, we would rather not be bothered

6. We do not have the right tools for the job and because it is not a profit center we do not want to invest in the tools for such jobs

7. It is an exacting job that is unforgiving of mistakes, most of us are not that methodical and painstaking, we would suck at it, and we know it and so we had better not even try

8. We believe the cost of getting most engines tokunbo is less than the cost of workmanship involved in tearing apart and giving the in-place engines a new lease of life

9. our mates who do, do that without consulting documentation, and as a result such engines are not rebuilt to specification, and when they fail, we use those stories as warning to our clients that we don't want to do the same to your engine (but without the background that the job was not done properly and so it was bound to fail anywhere whereas were it done properly, it would be as good as a new engine)

10. We don't want to use the client's engine to do a test run of our capabilities or the lack of it.

By the way gents here is how it's supposed to be done.

1) Look at the estimate and look at the final total, see how close they are?

2) Any deviation from the estimate requires authorization from the owner. It's a law.

3) You can request your old parts back unless it's used as a core return.

If you're not doing business like this then I have no respect for you.

I'll charge a non-refundable troubleshooting fee that MAY be applied to the final bill. If you decide to go and do the work yourself or somewhere else then no bad feelings. I think this is one of the causes of bad belle that we see.

I fi I tell you that starter is bad and I changed it and started in not bad then I owe you a full refund for the starter. No questions asked.

The only time for ambiguity is stuff like opening up an engine and then finding that cylinder bores are work out of spec.

Fixing a modern car shouldn't be trial and error and most definitely not on the customer's dime.

#LazyNigerianYouths can make a killing in any industry if they put customer service first and foremost.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS! this is how we do business.complete transparency. We also explain everything we do to the owner. You leave now educated than when you walked in.

I'll be home soon. My site is up at TobiMotors.Com though my offerings are limited by design until I am in Nigeria full time. It's a different concept.

1) If I feel that I can't satisfy the customer then I won't take the job.

2) Customer service is job number one.

3) It will not be cheap but there are Nigerians that will value good customer service and "Fix It Once" Repairs.

Buhari/Atiku/Obasanjo can't fix Nigeria, they are just one person. It is the cumulative effort of average Nigerians that will turn the tide. It may not be in my lifetime but it will happen.

I would never in a million years post the name of a client online. Even if I wanted to my fingers won't agree grin
