I hope this won't be the only time you'll hear about these guys. Where are those companies looking for brand ambassadors? They won't see intellectuals like these ones o.
Also, the hundreds of first class graduands we celebrate every year in Nigeria, where have they being or is this going to be the only good thing about Nigerian universities for years to come?
The problem is universal
The rule is Worst students become CEO and they employ the Best students.
The average students work for the government

Kudos to them. Getting a first class aint easy. If an individual is not derailed by ignorance of gp in his first year, it is by coursemates who are 'slys'. Most guys who graduate with first class have senior siblings who told them what to do and what not to do when they get into the uni. Or they have a relative who is a lecturer or academic who guides them. In my school days i gunned to graduate with a second class upper not a first class. That was a realistic expectation for me. In the history of my school Caritas university enugu. Department of archi. Only one person has ever graduated with a first class.
Strange enough people think that to graduate with a first class u have to be a super nerd, Antisocial, a recluse etc but 80 percent of the first class graduates i met in school were balanced in various aspects of their lives; socially, academically, recreation. I even know of a first class graduate from elect elect dept who clubs. I feel that certain special scenarios that have to come together to enable one graduate with a first class. They are; prior knowledge of the departments academic strategy before gaining admission, being close to God, being extra smart in ur dealings with students and lecturers, being focused on getting first class from day one. Great ability to comprehend lectures speedily,a massive retentive memory. (na why some people no fit make 2.1 talkless of first class despite the fact that they read from evening till the next morning. Those guys that make the top grade have this natural gift from God) and making friends with the brightest students in class. Their study culture will rub off on you and u will realize that u don t have to struggle as much as u would have if u were doing things alone.

I'm proud of Unilag! 245 first class. Kudos!! Schools in the east should learn. Depriving hard working students of first class is not the best. Tell me, how can you get a rich and influential alumni when you deprive them of that which will enable them to succeed effortlessly?

I won't be surprised they will be in the GRE thread. These kind of persons will smash the quant section. At least, 167. We've to show the Indians, Singaporeans and Chinese the stuff we're made of.

MIT & Caltech on point!!!! cool

Congratulations!!!!!

Nice milestone achievement for them; education gives you more choices in life yet doesn't determine who makes it in life.

The top 100 world richest men hardly have good grades. These great champs will still be employed by people who had lower grades than they.

I salute their doggedness and focus in attaining this level.

245 first class - that's cool.

If they had attended a private school, you would start hearing nonsense like come and repeat it in federal unis.

Actually, CU has challenged many schools that were in the habit of withholding deserved good grades to award it, so much so that some are have now even reduced the standard for excellence in other to be able to compete with CU excellence wise!!!
