Vice presidents do not have zero authority and I have no idea where you get that from. They are chosen for their political assets they bring to the table. Osibanjo was specifically selected to represent the christian electorate. If Osibanjo was a sincere person, his resignation would deal a severe if not mortal blow to the government.
