Nigeria doesn't have a single interceptor fighter jet nor do we have a single air defense and response in place .. is it this two 35 years old Alpha jet you want to scramble to intercept an aerial threat over Aso Rock...Oga keep fooling yourself with mediocrity I am not joining you
Then why hasn't there been any attacks since 1992?

Because an attack is usually the last resort. To sabotage the Nigerian economy all you need do is pay bribe to Nigerian politicians. Which is way cheaper than sending a rocket to destabilise the country

Naptu2, i LOVE ALL OF YOUR THREADS.

I really learn a lot from you, you are the Nairaland resident historian.

That State House Marina(lovely building by the way).....What is it used for now?

What of Dodan Barracks? You said it was rebuilt. Any pictures of the reconstructed one? What is it used for now?
The Presidency moved from State House Marina to State House Ribadu Road in 1967. However, State House Marina was still used for some official functions between 1967 - 1991 when the Presidency moved to Abuja. Ambassadors and high commissioners usually presented their letters of credence to the president at State House Marina. State House Marina was also the venue of the arrival ceremonies for certain visiting heads of state and government, e.g. Margaret Thatcher, King Juan Carlos of Spain and Robert Mugabe. President Jimmy Carter of the US stayed at State House Marina when he visited Nigeria in 1978.

Maryam Babangida often held her childrens day and independence day parties at State House Marina and Wole Soyinka was presented with a national honour at State House Marina after he won the Nobel Prize in 1986.

State House Marina was almost abandoned between 1991 - 2011. The only state activity that took place there was the signing of a condolence register when Stella Obasanjo died in 2005.

President Goodluck Jonathan hosted David Cameron at State House Marina in 2011 and he liked the place so much that he stayed there (instead of Ribadu Road) whenever he was in Lagos.

Governor Ambode sent a request to President Buhari that the Lagos State Government should be allowed to take over State House Marina. President Buhari approved the request last year and Fashola formally handed the house over to Ambode earlier this year. I think the Lagos State Government plan to convert it into a museum.

The Presidency was at Ribadu Road from 1967 - 1991. The president of Nigeria stayed at Ribadu Road whenever he was in Lagos between 1991-2011 (President Obasanjo celebrated his birthday there in 2004). The residence was seriously damaged during the Orkar Coup (I'll never forget that day) and it was rebuilt by Julius Berger. The other parts of the complex were not seriously affected.

The last time that I saw the Council Chambers being used was in 2002 when Obasanjo paid a state visit to Lagos. He and other Federal Government officials met with Tinubu and other Lagos State officials at the Council Chambers.

State House Ribadu Road has been used as a heliport since 2011. Whenever the president or vice president is visiting Lagos (especially the Island) they fly to Ribadu Road by helicopter and then go to their destination by car (the Ribadu Road complex is very big and it's got a huge field that can accomodate many helicopters).

.
Please enlighten us more. What would an ideal line of defense look like for that edifice? Thanks
First of all there should be a no fly zone restriction over the airspace ( which I am sure there is ) it will need a battery of about units of Russian built S 300 Grumbles in the tge surrounding hills to cover effectively to buy time to get the commander in chief out in case of aerial breach..on the roof within the compound they will need a reliable close in weapons system like the Russian built AK 360 to keep the compound safer , finally a Squadron of air superiority interceptors that can be scrambled with 2 minutes of an impending aerial close in ... Sadly we have non of this in place

Someday, one or all of the many buildings that make up Aso Villa will adorn National paraphernalia as it ought to be.

The presidency is still steadfastly militarised even with 19yrs of democracy.

Yet we claim to be a continuous democracy that is 19 years old?

Is it a crime for the media to take a photo shot of Aso Villa, since the end of military rule in 1999?

Now let the government of Nigeria go sue Google for exposing a structure that Nigerians should by right be able to draw as a primary school assignment.
I agree. should be some sort of national symbol. Many of us can ID the Whitehouse but not this. Nigeria doesn't seem to have a clear script but just to loot

Where will they take off from?

From the way i see it, the only way it can happen is if an airforce base is bridged and an attack helicopter hijacked. Even this may not succeed because the airforce cam quickly get a jet fighter airborne which will intercept the helicopters especially because the jets are much more faster.

You are thinking of the movie "Olympus has fallen".

I meant attack helicopters coming from non friendlies ...Truth be told the Airspce coverage of Nigeria is very poor military wise and we don't have any jet that can scrambled as an interceptor at the moment..non absolutely

Why don't you tell me what line of defence can stop the scenario Ibplayed out or just keep quiet...a country without a single air warning system in place or proper military grade radar coverage neither do we have single interceptor aircraft yet you are yappping nonsense ...I am sure you think very highly of the Nigerian military because you know nothing .

You mean the Nigerian airforce has no airworthy fighter jet? Do you know this for a fact or just assuming because of our ineptitude?

Yes i know there is no total radar coverage of the Nigerian airspace, however, any neighbourinf country that allows such helicopters to take off and sneak into Nigeria has earned itself a war with Nigeria. Basically, those kind of helicopters cannot be allowed to operate privately or for any non military operation in Nigeria. The only way for tgat to happen is to compromise our own military.

Take it from me Nigeria we have non ..A couple of very old unreliable Alfa jets with nor air to air capabilities is all we have and they are always busy in the North East doing nothing but fly bys.

True!

Here, a 13yr old can draw Pallati Presidencial because they re allowed to visit there and know so many things about there. Try it in Nigeria and see your child blown to pieces.
